1. Why? B"G is not busy and there is a large cost
Charles ,   Paris, FRANCE   (12.26.11)
in operating an international airport, especially for the numbers of tourists it is likely to attract. It would be cheaper to build a high speed dedicated bus route from B"G.
2. I'm all for an airport in the Galil
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.26.11)
and hopping on a plane from the Tel Megiddo would have been very convenient, but all that noise would have been horrible for digging. It would have also wrecked the beauty of the Jezreel Valley. I'm glad they didn't build one there.
3. Hey Charles
Mr. T ,   Israel   (12.26.11)
You are clueless. Beer Sheva is becoming a large city and a high speed link opening in 2012 to TA will make the city even more attractive. Its a great idea. That whole area is in the development stage.
4. And we'll finally have some basic redundancy for air travel.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (12.26.11)
If Ben-Gurion Airport is attacked today, the country is closed off for air travel, in and out. That means tourism and goods over air are effectively closed down, not something I find appealing. And Jordan's land pass is not a reliable alternative over time - best to have something local as well.
5. #3, that post would have been much better without the first
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.26.11)
sentence insulting him. Using a personal attack diminishes any argument that you're trying to make. This is something that many talkbackers on YNet need to realise.
6. Nevatim was designed as a civilian airport from the beginnig
Shlomo K ,   Tel Aviv   (12.26.11)
Nevatim should have been developed during the last expansion - the " Natbag 2000 " project. This will be the biggest contribution to the development of Beer Sheva and the Negev. I wonder if they planned the new train line to go via Nevatim? It's not too late.
7. minister katz
sas ,   israel   (12.27.11)
so he is finally trying to do something..........................the man is not capable.
8. Maybe for emergency use but direct from US, WHAT?
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (12.27.11)
9. As if the landscape isn't trashed enough b'aretz!

10. #3 thank you for your comment.
Sephardi Leftist ,   Israel   (12.27.11)
Indeed here on ynet many of us TBers "forget" to be polite and courteous in our comments. Thank you very much for the gentle reminder!
11. Minister Katz rather expedite the train service ....
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (12.27.11)
to the Galilee! The Government is encouraging people to move from the center of the country to the Galilee. All very nice. Clean air, less congestion and the cost of living is a bit lower but there are no jobs, Minister! Instead of another international airport why don't you do some about the dismal state of public transport. Where is the Railway Reform your demanded by August 17th or "I will shut down the railways"? The Unions won, didn't they? By the time the railway to Karmiel is completed in 2016 on a good day or in reality probably 20**, the economic situation in the North will have sunk so low that population will be the order of the day.
12. Amazinf hoe the Yanks always know what WE must do!
Israeli ,   Israel   (12.27.11)
Fix your own screwed up country and leave us to fix up ours! Actually, with all our problems, we seem to be doing a lot better than you!
13. build more airports
nadav   (12.27.11)
not only should they build an airport in the Negev, they should expand the international airport in Eilat and build another airport in the north, near Afula or Beit Shean- but these airports MUST be linked with fast rail service to the coast and big cities, otherwise they will just collect dust. The same goes for sea ports, Israel must build private, artificial seaports in Tel Aviv, Netanya, Ashkelon and Atlit, this will increase trade and lower costs and prices for Israelis...
14. oops! my comment @10 was intended 4 Henry @5
