And cause an issue with the strait of hormuz, this could also suffocate an already hostile economic defiecency that is already dragging the western economies further into unstability, which would lead to a flexing of muscle from NATO/western countries.

With Iran making deluded statements about how easy it would be to close the Strait of Hormuz and the US Navy confirming that it will keep shipping lanes open, Iran could be set for a fall on the other side of the wall.

The Obama administration is trying to keep all sectors of the electorate as happy as possible: the isolationists followers of Ron Paul as well as the interventionists in the Gingrich & Romney camps. It has the daunting task to get reelected while US unemployment exceeds 9%, a feat that has not been achieved by any past incumbent president in similar economic situations. So we can expect a continuous flow of contradictory statements. But if the Obama administration remains in place its will to prevent Iran getting nuclear is not likely to be any stronger than it has been when it disregarded various past "red lines". The result would likely be an Israeli preemptive strike which will bring about all the economic & military consequence the US & European politicians are fearing so much in the short term while hoping that kicking the can down the road will not make them face in the longer term a much greater danger.

Ending a war takes time, manpower and tons of money and blood. There are no cakewalks. The US is currently downsizing its defense budget. Our credit card was about used up in Iraq and Congress is balking at spending more. The US military does not have the manpower to do it alone. hundreds of thousands from other countries would be required. Is Germany ready to commit 100,000 for a decade? Is Israel in for 50,000 or 100,000? How about Canada? And Australia? Can both of them be counted on each for 100,000 troops? This would just be to find the secret hidden sites where it is claimed that Iran is making bombs. The other sites are provably not places making bombs; they are monitored. Three to five trillion Euros would also be needed to finance the operation. Will Germany and the UK and Israel and France and Italy pony up? US taxpayers don't even want to pay for public schools in many places any more. And who is to deal with the Russians and Chinese and Indians who have their economies destroyed. And if it does go nuclear, who will placate the downwind countries? The US was sold the cakewalk story for Iraq. We were told it would be free and pay for itself.
