31. ;;the gift of one god''
me   (12.29.11)
yeah, its the gift that goes on giving innit... in the ME there is continuos war, hatred and conflict while in Europe, Nth and Sth America, Nth and Sth East Asia , and the Pacific there is peace and goodwill between different nations. What do those regions have that the ME does not have? Why, I do believe it is a much higher proportion of ''pagans'' .
32. denial
henry ,   usa   (12.29.11)
"Next time they will say that the Jews never existed as a people." I agree that this would be a terrible tactic. It would be terrible if the palestinians tried it on jews, and it's terrible when Newt Gingrich tries it on palestinians.
33. How to reconquer the Temple Mount ?
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (12.29.11)
Hadsh Amin el Husseini was the nr 2 criminal after AH in the holocaust. Later is better, than never says a hungarian slogan. A political trial must be started against him regardeless he is dead since decades. In this trial, just like in the Eichmann the israeli court proves his horrible crimes against the jews. After it he will be aquitted as does not live, but all his properties - included the Temple Mount - will be confiscated. And the whole world will understand that, after seeing the grand mufti's photo in kissing with Adolf Hitler. It is very easy to prove, that the Temple Mount belonged personally to Hadsh Amin el Husseini. Also to confiscate all the houses and belongings of this band ( Husseini clan ) and Jerusalem will be jewish again. Halleluya. ( You can lough, but I think it seriously )
34. Temple Mount
Suzie ,   London   (12.29.11)
It is actually the Rabbis in Jerusalem that forbid Jews to go onto the Temple Mount because it is sacred ground, until the Messiah arrives. If the author knew anything about Judaism, he would know this.
35. jewish history
ana ,   us   (12.30.11)
what I don't understand is how a so called religion, that didn't come into existence until 6 or 7 century AD, can make any claims to holy places of the Jews and Christians who were there over 500 years before they were even thought of.
36. 10 & 18
Sam M ,   UK   (12.29.11)
Your feeble attempts to erase Jewish history from Jerusalem and The Land of Israel doesn't cut the mustard. The evidence to the contrary is simply undeniable and overwhelming. People like you who advocate this view are liars and charlatans. There will never be a city called al quds nor a make believe state called 'palestine' to replace the present day State of Israel other than in your imagination! STOP WHINING AND GET OVER IT!!
37. This "gift of one god" is a curse on humanity, not blessing
Karl ,   Munich   (12.30.11)
On the other hand teachings like Buddha's were a blessing to humanity.
38. If you don't

show respect for your own heritage .....why expect others to respect it
39. Let us pray on the Temple Mount!
I Eidus ,   New York, USA   (12.30.11)
40. Aren't there any physical evidence?
Veni-Vidi-Agati ,   USA   (12.30.11)
We should produce a huge advertising campaign using coins and other physical evidence from the temple periods to ridicule the claims against us.
41. We must protect Jewish rights in ......
zvi ,   Los Angeles USA   (12.30.11)
Jerusalem whatever the cost may be.Obama and all the others who would deny us our rights will come and go. But the Word of Hashem from Jerusalem is forever. It is one of the tasks of the Jewish People to protect the place from which His Word was proclaimed.
42. Correct, but ..
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (12.30.11)
This analysis is accurate. Had Israel insisted on Jewish rights of prayer on the 'Temple Mount' in places judged to be permissible for prayer as Rabbi Goren suggested , we would have a different and better situation today. However this does not mean it is clear as to what we should do today. One central element in the reluctance to insist on the Jewish right to prayer has been the long self- imposed religious restraint from praying on areas of the sacred Temple ground. The fault then it might be said is not only with the Israel government but with the various religious authorities who did not know how to re- think in relation to the new situation that came about in 1967.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.30.11)
Peace and goodwill in Asia? Oh, I think you might want to check with the Philippinos, the Koreans, the Burmese and the Chinese. Just ask them what they think of Japan. You might want to ask the East Timorese what they think of the Indonesians. You could ask the Laotians what they think of the Vietnamese. Might want to ask the Cambodians what they think of themselves.

solomon ,   bklyn   (12.30.11)
Please explain how two religions own every stone of Jerusalem when they began thousands of years after the religion you say owns nothing and therefore were in Jerusalem thousands of years after the religion you say owns nothing.
45. #40, there is some, but it's scarce as is usually the case.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.30.11)
There is no known concrete evidence of the First and Second Temple (Herod's renovations are often treated as a Third Temple as they basically resulted in a completely new building) and the two pieces that were claimed to be evidence (Ivory Pomegranate and Jehoash Tablet) were exposed as forgeries. The retaining wall of the platform for the Herodian one is what we see today. However, the actual remains of that Temple were cleared away when the Dome of the Rock was constructed, The stone was most likely reused throughout Jerusalem as is often the case (why quarry new stone when you can just reuse old stone?) Coins are a tricky thing as they were only invented by King Croesus of Lykia in the 7th Century BC (despite the Bible saying Solomon used them, which should help one date that book of the Bible) and then in widespread use by the 6th Century (or was it 700's and 600's?) and the only coins I have seen connected to a Temple is the five-year long run of coins from the First Jewish Revolt against the Roman overlords. The evidence is waiting for us under the Temple Mount, but while it's under the supervision of the Waqf, I'm afraid that the Second Temple remains a ghost and the First Temple only a legend. It is said in archaeology that if you're lucky you'll find 10% of what was. We'd be lucky to find 1%, but we can't until archaeologists are allowed to excavated the Temple Mount.
46. Palis Have NO History Beyond 40 Years
BG ,   NYC, USA   (12.30.11)
The falsely named 'Palestinian' Arabs never existed before the mid-1960s. It was a name given by Yasser Arafat (an Egyptian) in the mid-1960s to a rabble of Arabs squatting on Israeli land because their own countries refused to let them in after the first Arab war against the nascent Israel. Since there was no such thing as 'Palestinian' Arabs before that time, they ceretainly cannot claim they have historic ties to the Temple Mount, which has existed for thousands of years. The best they can say is that as ARABS they might have historic ties to the Temple Mount, but NOT as 'Palestinians'.
47. Nomadic, Primitive Arabs
Truth in History ,   Boston, USA   (12.30.11)
While the Arabs were still wandering around following their flocks and cooking their meals over camel dung, the Jews had built and continuously lived in Jerusalem for THOUSANDS of years. There has been a continuous Jewish majority in Jerusalem since its inception despite Arab/Muslim lies and revisionist history. (BTW, many Arabs still cook their food over camel dung!)
48. JERUSALEM IS JEWISH, PERIOD!
David ,   USA   (12.30.11)
Islam never had any presence there. The Quran and Mohammed never mention Jerusalem once. So, all the "false babble " just like the "invented Pals" are all figment of a very sick people, always trying to covet what's not theirs. They have Medina & Mecca. They bow to Saudi Arabia. Jews have bowed to Jerusalem for thousands of years,

The law in any country you can name is: When you build on property that doesn't belong to you, you had no right to build, therefore what you built doesn't belong to you, it belongs to the property owner, which has always been Israel I have given you numerous opportunities to prove that you had a claim to the land, as of yet you have yet to prove that any of it belongs to you One more time: Where was the ancient Capital of Palestine, who were the last three rulers of your fictional land, where can I see some coins that were minted in Palestine by Palestinian's Last but most important Explain why Palestine, Jerusalem or Al Quds aren't mentioned even once in the Quran

You should be ashamed of yourself. That isn't journalism or even an opinion piece but a rampant tirade of hysterical assertions. I don't even think it would make it past the highly conservative editors of Giuliano Ferrara's Il Foglio. The next time you talk of bulldozing Jewish history, reflect at least for a concessive clause that Israel has, and still does, obsessively erase, deface, elide and crush all traces of its Palestinian and Arab heritage in numerous villages, in Israel and in the territories it occupies. Stop the whingeing, and start accepting the fact that the 'lacrymose version of history' sounds ridiculous to all but ultranationalist keepers of the faith.
53. Halakha forbids you to enter the TM
Observer ,   Italy   (12.31.11)
It's weird watching all of these gungho bloggers following the dunam after dunam land grab policy of Zionism. There is an halakhic ruling forbidding Jews to set foot on the Temple Mount, you guys, or is that you goys. Even Kook, and his son Yehuda Zvi after 1967 issued a responsum regarding the consequences of a mora hamikdash, and avised it was offlimits to the public. So don't blame Arabs, blame Yitzhak Nissimn and Yehuda Unterman who laid down the ban from the august perspective of Israel's chief rabbinate..
54. #49 I don't know where you learned math

What was the name of your Capital city, every nation past or present has one? Your last three Arab rulers were? What Museum has a few of your Ancient coins?

Which was responsible for the Crusades, Spanish Inquistion & Pogroms of Europe There is a sign by the entrance to OUR Temple Mount, which doesn't exclude Cohanim & Levites, they are the only ones allowed to unhindered access to Our Temple Mount, all others, most especially your Arabs are excluded, since they're an abomination

It's weird watching the arabs following the dunam after dunam of their land grab policy. As usual, you repeat truth only backwards. Not everyone follows halachic rulings. You are not an expert on anything, let alone facts; how can you even think you are an expert on Judaism?
60. #52 blindman
solomon ,   bklyn   (01.01.12)
As usual, you take the truth and turn it around and upside down. It is the arabs who are bulldozing Jewish history, exactly as stated in the article. They are trying to obsessively erase, deface, elide and crush all traces of its Jewish heritage (Rachels Tomb was always a mosque. Yea, right...). Your version of history' sounds ridiculous The Jews were attacked and won. Most arabs left at the behest of the arab armies. They lost. Sorry to disappoint you.
