Though the topic of this article is the NYT - allow me to digress slightly: Let's use the Toronto Star as an example of how a newspaper's editorial policy can border antisemitism... The Toronto Star allows Haroon Siddiqui to pen an endless stream of articles where he finds any and all excuses to mention Judaism or Israel - even the topic of Muslim honour killings has to contain examples of Orthodox Jewish behaviour. Yesterday's Star had an entire page detailing Beit Shemesh and the 8 yr old girl - in comparison - ongoing strife and killings in Syria ranks a quarter page. The Star also practices discrimination by omission - any event where Jews and Israel shine on the world stage either gets scant mention or is not even mentioned at all. Any crime or lawsuit where Jews are involved becomes front page news with the Star making great effort to somehow inform the reader that one or all of the parties are Jewish.
