1. Good Thing
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (01.01.12)
B"H A rabbi is a rabbi if he stays under Torah, nothing else. That military "rabbis" come clear and say that they are in fact no rabbis, is a good thing. They maybe are officers educated or well versed in Torah, but they are no rabbis and soldiers as well as the general public should understand this.
2. And this is why we don't serve in the army
A Religious Jew   (01.01.12)
3. What "growing discrimination against female soldiers"?
rebecca ,   Modiin   (01.01.12)
What growing discrimination? Only the news media is making this bigger than it is. We just had 5 females graduating as pilots. That's great news. People singing are entertainers, not soldiers. If anything there is discrimination against the religious soldiers.
4. If this present brouhaha doesn't open our eyes on the true
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.01.12)
nature of Religion (in every form&shape) then nothing probably will. Why I do think so? Because if 20 years of Arab terror has not convinced our own, Left-wing part of Am Israel, that the truth is written on the wall for all to see.... Who said that "Reality" is real?!
5. To 2
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.01.12)
Arafat also FOUND an excuse to reject Barak's peace offer . You are not better . And if you think that with such ideas we will respect you , you are wrong .
6. Looking at discipline in the IDF having some religious
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (01.01.12)
soldiers not listening to women sing seems to be the least of of the problems.
7. # 3
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (01.01.12)
Did you ever serve in the IDF ? I think not because you simply dont understand what you are talking about. Not ALL soldiers are combat soldiers. Also the rights of religious soldiers are well defined in the army regulations.
8. Don't serve? Then don't expect anything!
Moshe ,   Rehovot, Israel   (01.01.12)
The haredi public and their political leaders have long acted as if they exist on a different plane of reality. if they do not want to serve in the IDF, then they should not have to. They should also not receive the right to vote, drivers licenses, passports, welfare payments or stipends for their yeshiva students. Maybe their special universe will provide these things!
9. Court Jew
Yoni ,   Shomron   (01.01.12)
Interesting. Why didn't Rafi Peretz call this meeting 3 months ago?? Nooo, nothing to do with pressure from the radical leftist media, or the ordering of Benny Gantz, of course! For a so-called "rabbi" to say that military orders come before Torah orders is a CHILUL HASHEM! No wonder large numbers of Jews returning to Torah Judaism choose to become Haredi -- even though the Haredi world has abandoned a number of essential mitzvoth, such as settling the Land of Israel, serving in the army, and secular studies. When they see the wishy-washy Mizrachi/Mafdal "rabbi's" not standing-up for the Torah with pride and courage, they think to themselves, "Is this what religious Zionism is all about? If so, better to be Haredi!"
10. IDF rabbis: Orders precede Halacha
Baruch ,   Sweden   (01.01.12)
Dead Wrong! Deadly wrong… :(
11. Torah above the state! I explain:
Netahnel ,   Jerusalem   (01.01.12)
Lets say the State of Israel would decide that circumcission is equal to genital mutilation (and don't tell me this could never happen), than tell me whether you still would be first a law abiding citizen, or a Jew who breaks a law?
12. refusing immoral orders
chava ,   yerushalayim   (01.01.12)
I came too late to serve in the army, but I've been told by some that when you enter the army you sign a paper saying that you may (or maybe it's must) refuse immoral orders. If an order goes against halacha, and it's not in any stretch of the imagination pikuach nefesh, is it immoral?
13. State above Torah
Michael ,   Haifa   (01.01.12)
Let us say that Israel continues to slide down the slippery slope to Fascism (which is becoming more apparent) , then Fascism puts the State above everything including the Torah.
14. #7 Yossi Sarid
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (01.01.12)
Leftist icon Yossi Sarid wrote a book explaining why every soldier should be ready to refuse orders. I am certain he would be very angry to hear that the rabbis have decided to descend the slippery slope of following orders at all costs. I think that every combat soldier should read that book.
15. separation and discrimination not same
moron ,   galut   (01.01.12)
16. discrimination
David ,   Los Angeles   (01.01.12)
How is not listening to women sing discrimination?
17. 11 The Tora states,that as long ..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.01.12)
the State[no matter which state] doesn t give orders that contradicts the laws of the Tora,Jewish citizens have to follow the State laws. Clear and simple.
18. IDF's racism is defending race instead of religion
observer ,   Egypt   (01.01.12)
19. Mibehaving haredim are provoking this decision
Susya Bar Dror ,   IL   (01.01.12)
This decision, orders before halacha, guarantees the very existence of Israel and Jews world-wide.
20. 19 Susya,orders not contradicting...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.02.12)
Halaha guarantees the very existence of Israel.Little difference.
21. Jewish country clueless about religious Jews
Yoni the JEW ,   Jewish Homeland   (01.02.12)
The Jewish army is clueless and does not realize that if it orders religious soldiers to go against halachah it will fall apart and cause civil unrest. It would be wise to talk to religious leaders of our generation to gauge the reaction of religious soldiers and impact it would have on the army if such orders were in fact given. I cannot believe that the army would put itself in such a position to make religious soldiers choose between halachah and orders. This is crazy!
22. The only security in the world is HKB"H and his Torah
Chosid ,   Golus   (01.02.12)
There is nothing else that will secure the Jewish people.
23. real chilul HaShem
yosef ,   williamsburg   (01.02.12)
Really sad...and the leftists, centrists, rightist, national religious ask how a Jew can be anti-zionist? In the words of Rebbe Teitlebaum ZT"L: "how can we be silent when we see such violations of our faith and the principles of our entire Torah?"
24. Chosid , 22 .and you still believe in this?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.02.12)
Six million Jews have'nt seen this security .
25. Haredim do not contribute anything
Susya Bar Dror ,   IL   (01.02.12)
to the economy, social life, academies, history and religion for the people and state of Israel. They are a constructed entity without responsibility towards Israel and its people. Without IDF - no Israel.
26. 22 Chosid,Remember:Help you and..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.02.12)
G-D will help you. Israel needs the IDF. Also Jews caring for as well material and spiritual needs. Ysashar [in charge of Tora study] was ordered to respect Zevulun [who helped Ysashar for parnassa].
27. an authority outside of halacha?
Aliza ,   NY, NY   (01.02.12)
Does this mean the IDF Rav is a conservative Rabbi?
28. 24 Charles The Shoa is one of ...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.02.12)
the important motivations why Jews gave their blood to liberate Israel. It is our duty to do everything we can to keep Israel for our future generations, and see to it that the six million Jews did not die for nothing.
29. 2. You are just a coward...
A religious Mensch   (01.03.12)
30. #21The boss is the Rabi or the General
Salomon ,   France   (01.03.12)
Do you think that in the battlefront the General will call the Rabbi to ask what to do for not disturbing the precious religious soldiers ? Stop to live in a parallel world, you are blind, you don't see what it's happening in Syria... How muslims kill other muslims... Do you really think that prayers will protect israelis from this hatred... Wake up and defend your familly, prayers are good but not enought How strong you can believe in God the reality is the reality Mashe haya haya you can't turn a Lemon in an Orange And if you tell me the Boss is God I'll tell you don't forget the Shoah!
