1. an Israeli is NOT Israel ! Always the same anti-semitism
(01.03.12)
2. This is absurd
Josh S ,   USA   (01.03.12)
So now a country is responsible when one of its citizens commits a crime abroad? If this becomes common practice, I'm going to catch the next plane to Chile and start robbing banks. Just send the bill to the local US embassy/consulate. I don't know about Israel but my US passport has a statement on it specifically warning me that I am expected to know and obey the laws of any foreign country I visit. If I break them, I am subject to that country's judicial system.
3. Shaded
Beary White ,   Norway   (01.03.12)
And the norwegian leftist newspapers and state leftist media do their best to tell how bad the israelis are. As said before, if a mouse fart in Israel, or an israeli fart outside Israel, the norwegian leftis media loooves to comment those very bad incdents.....
4. He will do time or pay the fine.
Matt   (01.03.12)
Torture well everyone goes through that during POW training. Once he is out he can plot his revenge.
5. You will get your compensation.
Matt   (01.03.12)
Don't worry about that.
6. How about Chile compensating for Israeli traffic deaths?
Mea   (01.03.12)
After all, if the logic works one way it also works the other. Several Israelis have been killed on subgrade Chilean roads so I'd say you're even stephen on the unproven accusations against this young man--It's called an accident.
7. Ridiculous
Frank ,   Canada   (01.03.12)
Will they ask compensation to Chilean starting fires? On the other hand, Israel could ask Chile compensation for the defense cost created by Chilean support to the Arab agression.
8. Oh, yeah?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.03.12)
Well, I demand compensation from the government of Chile for having allowed neo-Nazi Colonia Dignidad to exist and live and thrive and practice virulent anti-Semitism in Chile. There you go, Chile! What's your answer to that?
9. Profitable then to find ANY foreigner guilty, not a local.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (01.03.12)
Total corruption of the court system. One donation by one government does not make international law. Did Africa pay for the cost of running the Entebe raid?
10. How many hours till incompetent Chileans fought fire?
Serge ,   Montreal, Canada   (01.03.12)
It sounds like they are trying to find others to blame for their laziness.
11. ?????
aline silverman ,   israel   (01.03.12)
other countries have paid Chile compensation? ,,,,
12. Easy on the neurosis, brothers! He didn't cause an earthquake
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.03.12)
13. Wasn't it a Jewish Israeli Doc who helped the miners?
How quickly ,   they hate   (01.03.12)
14. We had a fire last year, and a lot of international help
Deena ,   Tel Aviv   (01.03.12)
Did you forget that already? ------------------------------ Probably Israel shouldnt pay, but should be the first one ready to provide help and support. Here we are not talking about monetary damage, but ecological damage that will affect us all. Shame on this israeli guy... This is why the goverment should look as they care, to show that it was an individual feeling and not that we are indifirent here in Israel.
15. to the Chilean Senator...If I set the fire I'd pay....
watcher ,   Israel   (01.03.12)
but since I didn't set the fire I am not paying! Sir when are you and your fellow countrymen going to learn: 1. that we didn't kill Jesus Christ (the Romans did) 2. that we are tired of your non-Christian behavior (what is it with you people and all these foul comments?!) 3. if the young man set the fire, charge him with arson and leave us out of it!
16. Not anti-semitic?
Sandy ,   Seattle USA   (01.03.12)
Yes, what the senator said IS anti-semitic. If a Chilean were to come to the U.S. and start a fire, should we demand the Chilean govt pay us for the fire? What about if they came and murdered someone? What if they bombed a building? What if.... Bet they would say they aren't responsible for what one of "their people" did. This seems to be a trend starting against Israel lately. Even Turkey did this, didn't they?
17. Brilliant Idea.
Frankie Littlehammer ,   New Herstal, TX, USA   (01.03.12)
This is a brilliant idea. The US can ask the Saudis to pay for the damage caused by the Saudi 9/11 terrorists, we can ask the PA to pay for the damage caused by disgruntled "Palestinians' (Abbas's sons in the Gulf are fabulously and miraculously wealthy) and the British can offer a drink to all those in discomfort over having to take their shoes off at security, caused by Brit national the shoe bomber.
18. Saudi's
michael ,   canada   (01.03.12)
Using that reasoning, the saudi's owe America about 2 trillion dollars.
19. @17 and 18
Finch ,   USA   (01.03.12)
The Saudis did offer compensation to the USA for the 9/11 tragedy. The United States of America through its then president Mr. Bush and the city of New York through its then mayor Mr. Guiliani REFUSED TO ACCEPT the Saudi Payment. In my opinion the United States and the City of New York reacted correctly in that matter.
20. #14 Easy dude! Remember: innocent until proven guilty!
(01.03.12)
You're fanning the flames, while the Chilean gov is already looking for new causes for the fire! Better be ashamed of your pitiful self hate and self-flaggelation for unproven mistakes allegedly done by somebody else. You are pathetic!
21. #19 it was not the "Saudis". It was a "donation" by a Saudi
(01.03.12)
billionaire! And the situation is different. 9/11 was a deliberate act of terror. This is ALLEGEDLY an accident cause ALLEGEDLY by a tourist. The Czech gov was NOT requested to pay compensations - it OFFERED the payment as a contribution to the families impacted by the fire. If governments were be to held responsible for the damages caused by their tourists in foreign countries, everybody would owe to everybody billions of dollars! This senator is a racist pig and his statement is racist. By placing this impertinent demand, he is looking for political gain and revealing his dishonest political greediness.
22. YOU SHALL ASK FOR HELP AND YOU SHALL
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (01.03.12)
RECEIVE IT. We helped you with the miners. We can help you with the fire too. The action of one dumb Israeli does not reflect on all. We regret the fire, andyou can deal with him with your own laws if he is found guilty.
23. @21 agree w/u except...
Finch @19 ,   USA   (01.03.12)
that the Saudi Billionaire happens to be a member of the royal house of Saud (the Saudi Arabian Royal House) and therefore it was as if the money was to come from the Saudi Royal House. Thank you for the additional information and comments most enlightening.
24. How about compensation for Chiles post WW2 government
Hippocrates ,   Earth   (01.03.12)
hosting numerous mid to high ranking nazi officials? If this is worldwide protocol then fine, but if its an oddity then something stinks and it isn't just the unfortunate fire
25. #20
Deena   (01.03.12)
I do think that he is guilty. For any reason he fired a toilet paper... and suddenly there is fire... Is logicall that he has to claim that he didnt! Leaving that aside... Israel should help anyways. We had a fire last year and we got cooperation from many places. Do you remember? Or you will expected Israel to offer cooperation for this fire in 2-3years when the court decides? ---- BTW I dont understand how Ynet allows your posts...
26. #12 and # 13
Mother Nature   (01.03.12)
I guess that you are the same person... So far the fire destructed 19,000 hectares and they havent been able to calm it down. The World is in a situation where can not stand any other disaster and worse when is provoked. Next holiday try to get there or check on the Internet "Glaciar Perito Moreno" or "Torres del Paine" to understand how huge responsibility all humans on earth have over this place.
27. # 16
Thomas ,   US   (01.04.12)
The senator said if a Chilean national caused damaged to another country's heritage site, then Chile would be legally and morally responsible for the damage. (See second paragraph below the picture). He's not picking on Israel but holding Israelis to the same standard he would his own people. Perhaps Senator Navarro should consider that he's dealing with a people who produce the likes of a Rotem Singer who at the age of 23 enjoys lighting toilet paper on fire. Way to go Israel.
