1. Bad taste is universal. Jews shouldn't take it personally
Shep ,   Memphis, TN   (01.05.12)
I'm a Jew and I understand the failings of the human species. Everyone needs to lighten up.
2. Pathetic Ignorance!
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (01.05.12)
“The idea of the campaign isn’t to upset anybody. The way branding works is … you want people talking about your business. " This moron knew exactly what he was doing. He's based in Dubai and played to his market.
3. I gets you noticed, but not in the best way.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.05.12)
I would think that some there would say he was supporting a "Zionist myth". What are the censored words by the way? Are they rude terms in Arabic?
4. Disgusting ! Shame !
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (01.06.12)
5. @1: Shep: Obviously the murder of 6 million Jews...
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (01.06.12)
must be taken lightly in your world! Maybe you even deny the Holocaust! If you are a Jew why don't you come to Israel and meet some of the few Holocaust survivors left with their numbers tattooed on their arms and you can tell them to the faces to "lighten up" on what they went through in the Concentration Camps! A real Jew would never lighten up about the Holocaust just as an American would never lighten up over Pearl Harbor or 9/11! What this Brit has done is nothing more than Antisemitic and he probably thought it would amuse the Arabs in Dubai! Your comment is disgusting!
6. something to do about nothing. #5 stop crying wolf
Joy ,   NJ   (01.06.12)
7. Its all part of the trivialisation of Jewish suffering
Alan ,   SA   (01.06.12)
8. I don't understand...
(01.06.12)
It is not clear: who complained about the ad? Dubai citizens? If yes, hats off for showing some human (and humane) face. If not, this is a non-news. Nazi images are used routinely in Muslim countries for whatever reason. At least Ahmed had the finesse to distance himself from it.
9. #1 I take the genocide of my people VERY personally!
(01.06.12)
10. #2 It's not ignorance. It's pretense of innocence!
(01.06.12)
11. # 6
Birdi ,   Israel   (01.06.12)
Instead of calling yourself ''joy'' call yourself ''misery'' then put a sock in your mouth & crawl back under your rock.
12. # 1
Birdi ,   Israel   (01.06.12)
Try growing up not knowing & not receiving love from your grandparents who were killed at the hands of the sicko nazis. You post is sick.
13. "We're not antisemitic, we're just anti-Zionists!"
Tahl   (01.06.12)
Well, so much for this washed-up, lame slogan. Your true ugly colors are showing.
14. 1
john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (01.06.12)
Not when it's about genocide Shep. I can't imagine a Jew making a comment like yours.
15. Fortunately there are good Arabs
Sami ,   New York, USA   (01.06.12)
Fortunately there are good Arabs. He thought they would like the ads.
16. #6
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (01.06.12)
Well I guess none of your ancestors ever saw Hitler's gas chambers. There are still survivors of the death camps alive in Israel today, not to mention their children and even grandchildren who would think you and your remark nothing short of disgusting. There are some things about which you just don't joke, period. Got that, oh joyless one?
17. Dont lose your heads
Bob ,   Canada   (01.06.12)
Well two can play at the same game. You show your stereotype Arab in saudi arabya beheading a person! The caption will say " dont lose your head" And lets see the arab reaction from Dubai.
18. Phil Parkinson.
Vlad   (01.06.12)
Doesn't sound like an Arab name to me. I thought it was a local Muslim businessman, because Arabs are usually more anti-semitic than westerners. Guess I should have remembered that only 1 in 8 people in Dubai are actual citizens of the UAE.
19. why don't they instead....
hacim   (01.06.12)
have an ad with some women in their burkas and have a funny slogan..or perhaps proclaiming that allah is a lesbian and she is pretty pissed off. that would certainly be received well, wouldn't it? he says, oops, sorry if I offended anybody...right, dope.
20. He should put up an Arab refugee camp Nakba photo
Marco ,   Spain   (01.06.12)
This will show how fat they are and a warning to avoid being in a refugee camp.
21. considering
(01.06.12)
the dubai audience, i am not surprised this idiot brit put up such a despicable ad.
22. Lack of humanity in suffering of Jews & other victims
Abraham ben Jacob ,   Canada   (01.06.12)
This guy is not just an insensitive idiot, he was purposely doing what he knew was horrible. Maybe he thought that this would get a "positive" response with a Dubai audience ?
23. F-15 shedding few pounds would help greatly.
leo ,   usa   (01.06.12)
24. Crying Wolf
Yael ,   Dallas, USA   (01.06.12)
To Joy from NJ: I did not mean to recommend your comment, oh no!!! I meant to ask you where is the wolf and what you mean by asking #5 to not cry wolf. The holocaust did happen (do you know what it was???). You are invited to talk to victims-survivors who can attest to it. Do you even know what the "crying wolf" comes from? How can you equate this with crying wolf? Ignorance or stupidity?
25. It means nothing...you people are too touchy...
(01.06.12)
26. # 25
Birdi ,   Israel   (01.06.12)
If it means nothing, it should not have been written.
27. Don't want to get too reactionary but>
HaifaGuy   (01.06.12)
>Parkinson's son has Parkinson's! Funny huh? And to #25: you people??? Why don't you put a name under your burp so 'we people' could award your insightfulness with some light-spirited mockery, like yo momma has liver cancer or somethin :)
28. So there was a Holocaust, after all?!
David ,   Beer-Sheva   (01.06.12)
29. anonymous #25
Jerome ,   Auckland New Zealand   (01.06.12)
Half of my people, my race, my religion murdered; of course makes us touchy. How about you compare it to 3.5 billion common pagan masses?....
30. Dubai Gym Photos
Jonathan Lyon ,   Berkeley, CA. USA   (01.06.12)
I do take offense at these pictures being used in that ad. My Uncle is in the picture on the lower left. So are Elie Wiesel (middle) and Mel Mermelstien (top-right). These were real people.
