1. Staying Strong
Ellen ,   Netanya/NYC   (01.13.12)
The article indicates the reason for this action is tightening ties between Ankara and the US. That MAY be one reason. The REAL reason is that Israel, instead of bowing backwards to kiss their tuchos, stood strong and refused. Turkey couldn't lose face, attributing this to US ties is a face saving gesture. Bottom line, the more Israel stays strong and true to herself, the better off we will all be. When she shows weakness and bows down to her enemies, they will, as can be expected, extort this to their advantage.
2. Just like Egypt stopped gas they will sue
Miron ,   USA   (01.13.12)
when convenient. Israel won the engagement. What part of it you do not understand?
3. Turkish people
jeff ,   Beverly Hills, CA   (01.13.12)
althou the new leader in turkey is a muslim radical and as many say the hitler of the current generation, the turkish people themselves are good people, they dont like wars, they like peace. Too bad they made a mistake and elected erdogan, bad for them bad for the world, at the end the turkish people will throw him out.
4. OK, but Channel 2 TV News reported that .....
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (01.13.12)
Jewish Turkish Eurovision singer must apologize for being a Jew! When are the Turkish Jews going to wake up that Erdogan is the new leader of the Antisemitic World in the Middle East? When is our Government going to stop importing Turkish products and so suppurating the economy of an enemy country?
5. Turkey droppings
Susya Bar Dror ,   IL   (01.13.12)
what has it got to do with turkish "law"?
6. Erdogan face looks like Hitler's face
Zev ,   USA   (01.13.12)
I am just saying the guys resembles Hitler physically as well.
7. But ...
Doug ,   USA   (01.13.12)
It wasn't long ago that the State Department claimed that the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood had agreed to honor the 1979 Peace Treaty - a claim that was immediately denied by the MB itself.
8. A small thing has been forgotten
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (01.13.12)
A legal issue shouldn't be prejudged.Just because the Turkish government wanted to initiate legal proceedings against Israelis, that doesn't mean that they'd win the cases...especially as the evidence looks against them. You'd think that the Turkish government might have learnt its lesson after the publication of the Palmer Report, the conclusions of which were far,far from what it expected. The Turkish government made itself look like big fools with the petulant way it reacted to that Report. Perhaps it's finally occurred to them that it's about time to stop digging the hole they've dug for themselves before they become a complete worldwide laughing stock. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
9. Good. Let's get full reconciliation.
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.13.12)
Israelis are itching to resume vacationing in Turkey while Turkey needs the money. Follow the money and everything becomes clear. Full speed forward!
10. Ha, guess they finally saw the light!
Carl ,   USA   (01.13.12)
IHH was wrong and Turkey was wrong for supporting them. Israel acted in accordance with international law and has been exonerated by even the UN. About time Turkey stands down from their untenable position.
11. Turkey drops lawsuits...due to US pressure
William ,   Israel   (01.13.12)
and of course the fact that the Turks didn't have a case to begin with. Better to bow out under the guise of diplomacy involving the US than to announce to the world that the courts rejected it due to lack of evidence which has occurred on all other lawsuits against Israel brought by "Palestinians" and their Leftist supporters.
12. #1 - it's tough to charge someone with war crimes at ICJ
William ,   Israel   (01.13.12)
when the UN releases a report claiming those actions were justified and legal.
13. To: No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.13.12)
The decision to abandon those silly lawsuits has more to do with the fact that Turkey learned that they were destined to fail. The Palmer Report was embarrassing enough for Turkey; they did not wish to compound their humiliation. It has nothing to do with a desire to mend fences with Israel. Moreover, Israelis are not itching to resume vacationing in Turkey.
14. turkey droppings indeed!
Yoseph ,   USA/Israel   (01.13.12)
The bad news hidden within the supposed good news. Relations tightening between Turkey and USA. What fellowship has darkness with light? The friend of my enemy is my enemy! How can the US be the strong ally of Israel she claims to be and at the same time goes to bed with Turkey?
15. The Turks are a downright hot mess.
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (01.13.12)
Like most muslims, all talk and no action. They knew they were wrong and just can't make themselves admit it. Perhaps this move shows more of a practical matter than first thought?
16. #12 - not to mention the fact that it would be impossible to
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.13.12)
prosecute the IDF soldiers without Israel's acquiescence. The ICJ can only prosecute individuals with permission from that individual's government. They, like every other international body, are required to respect national sovereignty.
17. #9
Malone ,   Hfx   (01.13.12)
