1. Does this mean only men will get tickets
meghan ,   israel   (01.17.12)

2. Undercover assignments
Babishka ,   USA/Mea Shearim   (01.17.12)
They can identify troublemakers and defuse potential riots, however they may be condemned as "informants"
3. Amazing
ecr   (01.17.12)
my husband and I were talking about this yesterday!
4. Haredim to to Police
Rachel ,   Maoz   (01.17.12)
All this because the chief of staff demanded that boys listen to girls singing! He could have given them guard duty or had them peel potatoes for a night and the whole thing would have been a non-issue. This government wants to destroy our country as a Jewish state~the only one in the world where Jews are supposed to be able to practice their religion freely! Time to clean house in the next elections.
5. 1# when she is arrested

When will realize that the only reason you enjoy freedom in a Jewish country is because of the IDF? You religious people puzzle me. Whom do you think fights the terrorists? Was it a bunch of whimsy religious guys in 14th century furs in 120 degree heat? We ALL know the truth, that the reason this situation has never boiled up before in 6000 or so years is simply because the religious are using Torah to knuckle under those who are not religious. THEY are the ones making extremist demands. After all does no radio play through a window as they walk along a street? What if a soldier who is female happens to unconsciously hum? Frankly they seem too weak as men to do much besides sit and read.
7. Oh no, more women-hating cops!

Yes , time to clear Israel of scum bags that dont pay their way in Israeli society.
9. Religious Jews cannot be cops
Ephraim   (01.17.12)
What if you have to arrest R. Dov Lior? What if you have to upkeep a law that is clearly against halacha? Have they even thought about the great spiritual danger they are putting themselves in?
10. To #4
Norman Gellman ,   Rehovot   (01.17.12)
First of all the ban on women singing does not stem from anything in the Torah it is a “Halacha” perpetuated by an ultra-orthodox rabbi many years ago. The original ban was to listen to a women singing solo it has now been expanded to cover women’s choirs, women on stage or walking in the public street or seating on a public bus. This so called ban is not real Judaism and is not held by the larger orthodox Jewish people. The sheep like adherence to these dictums spells ill for Judaism. Actually the government insists that although we may be a Jewish state we are a democracy and not a theocracy. If you study your history you will find that the Zealots were instrumental in the destruction of the second temple. The extreme ultra-orthodox equates to Zealotry and we must make sure that the modern land of Israel is not destroyed again by Zealotry.
11. just sing a song girls
(01.17.12)
...........and they will run away

Sholom   (01.17.12)
While I wholeheartedly support any efforts on the part of Chareidim to be productive contributors to society, I would be very concerned if chareidim became a large segment of the police force in Israel. Judging by the lack of condemnation of the behavior of the fanatics in Beit Shemesh by the Chareidi community, what are the odds that they will take seriously their jobs to curb chareidi riots, and thug activity?!
13. Haredi policemen
oy vey! ,   israel   (01.17.12)
and!!! will they be able to break up a Haredi demonstarion? Thier relatives and neighbours will recognize them! and they won't do it!! And if they have to arrest a woman? will they touch her to handcuff her? REALLY!!!
14. won't face problems of women singing,
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (01.17.12)
how about hearing curses of street walkers, and female drug addicts, or even have to restrain the ladies physically ?.
15. Cops from an abnormal society
Ruben Jacobi ,   UK   (01.17.12)
The only job I think of these Haredim would be in call centre, where they could cut of a woman who was in a hysterical situation, and they mistook her cries for help as singing.
16. #8 Here came out the haters
Yosef ,   Boca Raton   (01.17.12)
Before they did not participate in the army and didn't work. Now army dodgers no more but we have to fill them with destructive criticism. Some of them do work and do serve in the army. It seems like there is a need to shot themoff society once they start opening up to new jobs and places. Not every Haredi spits on women, not every Haredi is a woman abuser, not every Haredi is a nutjob, not every Haredi lives of the overnment. There are plenty of other societal members from different backgrounds that do the same. Labeling a sector of society for the actions of a few is just nonsense.

Birdi ,   Israel   (01.18.12)
Nope, its much more than ''a few'' who dont do army service, who do spit on women, who do abuse women, who do insist women sit at the back of the bus, who do not work, who dont want to listen to women singing, who do riot& protest at the most trivial things & are a great burden to the Israeli taxpayer.
18. The IDF today is a joke and that is putting it lightly
Al   (01.18.12)
The real job of an army is to protect the country. Lets see what they have been doing of late. Spending tons of time and resources destroying huts and flopshacks in Judea Samaria all in the name of kowtowing to an Obama and the Eurodreck, who are our enemies. Playing political games and ensuring that the troops are properly entertained. Spending time, resources and political capital worrying about wether the religious should serve or be exempt. PS.. You dont need soldiers who dont want to serve , that includes the youth of TA who want to rave and party. Basic training is a suggestion. Soldiers cant aim their fire for their life. I should know my son tells me this all the time. He trained to be a long gun bolt action shooter here in Canada before he went to Israel. He tells me that most soldiers cant shoot and aim for their lives. They havent spend enough time on the range. YOu are ready to take junk from the Americans in the form of used humvees, while you skimp on basic repairs on your own equipment. The COS spends more time being a coffee tea drinker than a heads down manager and planner. You are in trouble. Its time to wake up and get ready. War is coming very soon.
19. You can take a horse to water but you can't make him,...
split ,   US   (01.18.12)
Heheh, another dodge ;) ,... If this is a swap option pay them for their service as much as you pay the soldier according to rank and wait.
20. Has Judaism become so sexist? A woman singing is wrong!!!!!
Jo   (01.18.12)
It saddens me to see and hear it. There are far worse "sins" of the heart and deed. murder, lust, violence, greed. The little respect they have for woman and the chauvinistic attitude they have to their own gender. Holier than Thou is a common attitude. Good that they work a little now. What is sad is that the Haredim were not always like this, once they know classical literature, always worked for a living, and had respect for all. True piety has gone.
21. Dammed if they do, and dammed if they dont.
rebecca ,   Modiin   (01.18.12)
You hipocrites are so quick to complain. These guys are really trying. They're breaking with their way of life and trying to bridge the gap between them and you. And all you can do is condemn condemn condemn. You make me sick. - you spit on those who are trying to do good. You're in the same category as those who spit on little girls.
