With the islamists taking over in Egypt, Tunis, Lybia and on their way to power elsewhere, and with a growing islamist minority in most European countries, it is easy to throw them a bone in order to pacify them - Israel. Egypt, Tunis and Lybia are on Europe's doorstep and Iran is developing an atomic bomb. Already it has rockets that can reach all of Europe if fired from Egypt for example. It's much easier to sacrifice Israel in order to avoid this terrible truth to reach the European public and to appease the islamic hordes.
