Actually, I do have issues with Barbie. I don't like the way that she creates unrealistic expectations among the 95% of little girls who will not grow up to be tall, incredibly slim, etc. It feeds into the low self esteem that results from the marketing of women in advertising, magazines, etc. And I think that modesty is an excellent way to increase self-esteem, as the woman or girl projects herself as a human being and not a sex object. But what I do object to is the coercion of modesty standards on those who interpret it differently. Not to mention those who attack children of those whose interpretation of modesty is a long skirt and sleeves to the elbow, but not including stockings in summer. That is where we start resembling Iran...
