1. they are right
Bernard Ross ,   st anns bay, jamaica   (01.18.12)
read israel hayom on the orthodox rabbinate efforts to deprive the eithipian jews of their JEWSH culture. The orhodox judaism is really a european mental colonialism and slavery of the jews is that even what they wear mimics the ghetto ashkenazi jew of europe. The disease of the mental slavery of the european culture has infected the religion by saying that only those practices out of europe are true. This is not only mental slavery but also the sin of vanity.
2. Racism
Rami ,   Hertzlya   (01.18.12)
We need some news laws in Israel that will stop racism at all levels
3. Never Again?
Dan ,   Florida   (01.18.12)
As Jews we proclaim "Never Again" but that must apply to everyone, every race, every creed or it applies to no one. The Ethiopians are Jews and we as Jews are, as G-D said, ONE.
4. Positive suggestions from the protestors ?? Zero
rebecca ,   Modiin   (01.18.12)
Just another band wagon for Labor and Livni. Where's Livnat? I'm sure Shalit would be there too had this been done a few months ago. Actually, now that he's gone political I'm surprised he's not there. But what do the protestors want done about it?
5. If they do prefer Ethiopa they can return there
(01.18.12)
6. Israel has much more important problems than that...
(01.18.12)
7.  #4 - What do they want?
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.18.12)
Rebecca - They want what we all want. Equality of opportunity in our Land! If you aren't aware of how they are treated it is because you don't want to be - and if you are aware and agree with the racist behaviour of our society then shame on you!
8. These protests are like flowers after a rainstorm
Al   (01.18.12)
they are cropping up like mushrooms. Its all about political change. Question...Do these poeple not work that they have time to protest? Who paid for the buses to buss them in from the towns they live in? Seems to me that entitlement is Israel is colour blind. Its all political theatre boys and girls. These moochers have decided they too want to be part of the social justice gang as well. They have turned into true Israelis hahaha.
9. Note the differences
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (01.18.12)
In Israel they are able to demostrate freely for what they want In an Arab country, they would be shot down in the streets for doing it
10. No to Racism but No to Dependancy either
CultureOfDependancy? ,   Jerusalem Israel   (01.18.12)
The housing discrimination must be ended however there is a feeling among many Israelis that the fast track the Ethiopians were put on has produced a culture of dependancy fed by left wing organizations which seem to have brainwashed many/If this continues there really could be a serious cutural and racial divide. Question why have so many totally and so quickly deserted Jewish tradition ?? Dont blame the Haredim it was the wonderful young people of the national religious camp that so lovingly accepted and received them so why?
11. every occasion is good for leftists to show us

their faces
12. To N 9, Ben Jabo
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (01.18.12)
You have written very well. Israel, in fact, is a democracy. Exactly because of it, her people needs to be ware about discriminations and radicalisms. Salutes from a Christian friend.
13. to many cultures to small country
zionist forever   (01.18.12)
Israel is not a huge place like America where everybody can find a spot they can call home. Israel is also a melting pot for different cultures and because of its small size nobody can hide away like the haredi try to do and so your going to get culture clashes. Jews, Arabs, Saphardi, Ashkenazi, Russian, Ethiopians, French, Anglos, Ethiopians. Druze, Bedouin. They all have their own cultures which often clash with others and the result is discrimination and hatred towards each other. Even the people who like to think of themselves as tolerant if they are honest with themselves will be able to think of somebody they dislike. For me personally its the Russians I can't stand with the possible exception of Liberman. Whilst there is of course racism in Israel same as everywhere else the majority of the problems are cultural issues and they can't be solved through protests.
14. We are the last ones who should be racist
meghan ,   israel   (01.18.12)
DO you see the units these boys serve in in the IDF? most are combat units. We should be proud of our fellow jews, whatever colour or country of origin, also to repsect beliefs whether secular or religious. Hope I am not expecting too much for our country, our homeland.
15. The racism these Ethipians are talking about...
Keren ,   IL-BR   (01.18.12)
exists only in their heads. It is all a matter on how one poses him/herself in society-if he poses his self in a position of somebody inferior , it is this way he will be seen. I think they are being fools by doing such a kind of idiotic demonstration. Nothing will change their state of mind ,only themselves. It is a complex of inferiority( social and individual) that they must overcome and this kind of demonstration will only make them to be seen as really fools. As for Livni,I am sorry to say but she is a clown.
16. WE DONT NEED MORE ENEMYS
michael ,   ZION   (01.18.12)
Im completly against racism and you cannot claim it has been stamped out in israel we already got millions of enemy's why do we need more? we should welcome them with open arms, in most cases we do :)
17. Only 5000?
nibor ,   israel   (01.18.12)
Where are all our liberal do-gooders when you need them?
18. a light unto the nations. lol
sweeter than honey ,   far away   (01.18.12)
19. We waited for Judah and now we have it
Basheer ,   L.A   (01.18.12)
Oh Oh it's on now, the real Jews(no pun) of the covenant.
20. Am Yisrael Chai
rj ,   tel aviv   (01.18.12)
Am Yisrael Chai ?? or is this just lip service now....we have a duty to stamp out all discrimination against fellow Jews and non Jews.
21. Can anyone deny the face we show as Jews
Josh   (01.18.12)
The oppression, racism and total disregard for what we know G-d and Torah expects of us, will turn the nation sour before our eyes. What can we say to heaven about what we do when we get our "good land"? Do we say we did what is "good and right" in G-d's eyes? The Ethiopians have been abused and shunned. I have sat on bars listening to KKK type rhetoric till I could no longer sit silent, yet no management seemed to mind. The racism is clear when you step one foot in far too many of the companies or restaurants in Israel and take a look around. Even some bus drivers pass them by in the stops and mock them openly before all not on behavior but on unfair prejudice. I have seen sharoots do the same and it sickens me. I once tried to hire a highly qualified black American for a technical position and was mocked for my choice with comments that come right out of American history books and worse overriden by upper management. The end result was what? I got an eccellent Israeli native employee who did his job or one deadbeat non stop cigarette smoking Israeli who coul almost always to be found on break do nothing? What do you think I got? ...and how could that contribute to the demise of a company? Shame on this practice. I cannot back you in what you do. I love the Ethiopians. They are good hearted. A shout out to Kiriat Moshe Rehovot. They are like a second family.

Why don't you convert-you spend a lot of time saying nice things about Israel and Jews.
25. to no 7
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (01.19.12)
Oh, please...Stop the b.s. Every Israeli citizen enjoys all equality and opportunity, regardles of race or skin color, as long as they do not violate the Law...It is how people use their rights, that makes them who they are.. You just can't resist seeking for conflicts, mr. A Jerusalemite... FYI, I still remember the excitement about the heroic project Izeya, initiated by Israel, with the help of UJA Federation, that enabled the rescue of the Ethiopean Jews from an opressive regime and near death starvation and bring them All to Israel...Do you know any other country, that would airlift a whole Nation to bring to safety ? The problem of Israelis like you is, that you don't want to know your history and that is too bad ....
26. to 21
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (01.19.12)
While I have no reason not to respect, nore dislike Ethiopians, I believe, they don't need your patronage... You on the other hand are a shmuck, no matter what is the color of your skin..What practice you are "talking" about ? If Israel is racist, you need to find another place to live...
27. 25 - Every Israeli citizen enjoys all equality and opportuni
split ,   US   (01.19.12)
Do you really believe what you saying and is that the way your "equality and opportunity" looks like? ,... "Just look at the official guidelines adapted solely for Ethiopian immigrants, whereby government housing grants are permitted to Ethiopian Israelis only on condition that their apartments are purchased on designated, predetermined streets and addresses (in impoverished and weak neighborhoods, thereby perpetuating the cycle of poverty) http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4177576,00.html
28. you're welcome to read until the end
i was in jerusalem ,   ISRAEL   (01.19.12)
It's kind of surprising that people ask why to protest? were do you live in? You all welcome to ask the ethiopian-jews you meet outside about it. After the Kiriat-Malachi story the next generation woke up. We won't let anyone to descriminate us. We'll continue to love this country and will die for Israel 'cause its our only homeland. For those who ask us to thank: THANKS GOD, THNKS to you for reading until here, THANKS to my previous generation for never giving up on their heritage(and we have a magnificent one- you're welcome to check it) and on the hard way to Jerusalem, and yes THANKS to my dear country! and THANKS to all the little racists- I become stronger each day thanks to you!
29. Jennie #25
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.20.12)
How many people from Ethiopia do you know personally? How much do you know about their problems in seeking higher education, in finding work even with degrees, in finding flats for rent? Yes, I remember the first Ethiopian Aliyah and I remember the first Russian Aliyah and the differences between them...do you?
30. e27 Split = No bank gives a mortgage
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (01.20.12)
to anyone that wants to buy a home in an area that has the potential of being a slum, where the property will be worth less, being underwater is a couple of years Many a downhill area has been improved by new tenancy who do their utmost to upgrade their new home, which in Israel, is a hell of a lot better than the one they left behind in Ethiopia I will say one thing for you, as per usual; you display your idiocy for all to see, talking about what you have no experience with I guess, it's more entertaining than your usual game of pocket pool
