I read the article with deep sadness but not shock because in many nations, Argentina is not an exception, Jews are the butt of all jokes and they get dehumanized regularly. This however is not the first time some paper or magazine publishes something like this, and life goes on. Some find it humorous or maybe many find it funny but the only ones that rise up are Jewish groups. No one else does anything and it's only a matter of time when this happens again. Governments there have not been particularly interested in waves of antisemitism. Jew hatred is taken for granted with laughs and general inertia by the population.

This is a comic strip published by one individual in one newspaper. The newspaper has been harshly criticized by Argentinian society and forced to issue an apology. Can Argentina as a whole be faulted for the strip? Clearly not. It's not as if state-paid priests are calling on their followers not to rent houses to Jews; or as if any synagogue has been torched recently; or as if the Argentinian parliament has passed a bill singling out Jews, and only Jews, for differential treatment in migration procedures.
