1. Excellent article!
yossi ,   israel   (01.24.12)
Put into words perfectly the hypocricy of the all leftists, arabs, and especially the holier than thou europeans out there.
2. Which reality do you inhabit?
Philos ,   Herzliya   (01.24.12)
A one where three Arab tyrants weren't brought down by the West I presume? In two out of three cases with Western bombers....
3. Its simply Antisemitism..the question is:why antisemitism?
who cares   (01.24.12)
4. human rights groups farce
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (01.24.12)
The human right groups are slanted. They ignore the real problems and fixate on the minor problems in open societies. Why not focus on Africa and South America? Why not focus on the Arabs? Israels allows these groups freedom of speech and they enjoy much prestige. In other places where they do not talk about, they are basicaly banned.
5. I agree with you on that 100%
Benjamin ,   Sweden   (01.24.12)
6. Because the NAZIS in this world want the arabs to kill all..
Mark ,   Ohio   (01.24.12)
the Jews for them!
7. The biggest issue with human rights orgs
Allan ,   Delray Beach   (01.24.12)
is their sources of revenue. When the bulk of the money they receive comes from violator states, these human rights groups turn a blind eye to the violations in order not to offend their benefactors and cause the funding stream to dry up. That's how hypocrisy is born.
8. It's the NGO's funded by Europeans and operated by Israelis
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (01.24.12)
I can never understand Israel with it's backstabbing NGO's funded by some of worst enemies of Israel in Europe and who knows where from outside Europe. These groups constantly barrage the Western media with supposed offenses in Israel no worse then any other western country and much worse then any 2nd world country. Then you get the Israeli "Academics' like Shlomo Sands who have no idea of genetics or ignore them giving ridiculous speeches how Jews are not a people. If a professor in any other country wrote a book with no knowledge of the science involved he would be laughed out of academia. Since Sands in talking about Jews all the clowns shake their heads in agreement except the scientists
9. Western media has a bias
DavidM ,   USA   (01.24.12)
The western media has an extreme bias against Israel. The New York Times for example ignores oppression of homosexuals in the middle east but featured false accusations of gay bashing against Israel allowing no rebuttal. Two Times columnists, Roger Cohen and Thomas Friedman, routinely accuse Israel of buying Congress while ignoring the Saudi lobby altogether. The Guardian in the UK does not even bother to conceal its bias. These publications are proof of a double standard.
10. true, true and true but
Mike ,   London, UK   (01.24.12)
you are preaching to the converted this message needs to be aggressively taken to the international media
11. True but , so what ?
Yossef   (01.24.12)
what do we do with Judah-Shomron ? a) Do we annex it (zones B and C) and give the big arab towns to Jordan control ? Gaza is already free and independent. b) Do we really believe to a palestinian state ? But then the sooner the better. Tomorrow is possible if we really want. It seems that nobody can really know what exactly we want, even us. It's too easy to say that the world is not unfair with us (why would we expect something else btw ?), we need to give a position and stand with it, whatever the position is.
12. to # 10 true, true, true
shamil benyaminov ,   US, New York   (01.24.12)
"this message needs to be aggressively taken to the international media" LOL are you serious? have you not learn international media likes to demonize Jews....btw even though this article is great but i knew about this issue long time…
13. Israel is an easy target
Carl ,   USA   (01.24.12)
The liberal leftists can easily placate their guilt by sacrificing Israel on their alter of self-righteousness, turning vicious oppressors into victims. There are no personal consequences to vilifying Israel, like the terror reprisals to the Mohammed cartoons. Everybody expects the Arabs to behave badly.
14. Human rights
Nadya ,   Garden Grove, USA   (01.24.12)
Does pointing out the human rights violations of other countries make your human rights violations of Palestinians more acceptable or right?? I don't think so, this article is pointless.
15. Has to do with expectations of Israel and
Stephen in New York   (01.24.12)
lower expectations for most if not all-Arab societies. Are there civil societies –as understood in the West- in the Arab world? (They, too, are culture-bound and dismiss how we organize our societies.) Bottom line is that “world opinion” expects Israeli Moslems to have civil rights, but Moslems in the Arab world are not expected to enjoy civil rights.
16. B'ruch H-Shem Mr. Ha'ivri, you have 8 children
Moshe ,   Usa   (01.24.12)
I wished I could have had so many & I wish my daughter & son will also have so many. G-d Bless you & your family.
17. Nadya #14 it does if you have a brain
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.24.12)
The fact that those 'human rights violations' are not actual violations and entirely due to the Arab actions it sure does. I think you are pointless and moronic
18. #14 Nadya, Yes it is important
Carl ,   USA   (01.24.12)
One cannot put a single country under a microscope while ignoring truly egregious violations by other countries. Doing so points out the overriding political agenda of these NGOs that has nothing to do with human rights.
19. Easy...
esnuffnstl ,   USA   (01.24.12)
It's not so much humanitarian concern as concern over things that can (and do) have profound implications for world peace. No world war will come if one African tribe viciously attacks another. Nor will a cross-border conflict (likely) occur when an Arab nation persecutes one of its minorities. However events between Palestinians and Isarelis have the potential to drag in other nations (especially the US) and can (and have) caused cross-border wars in the past. What happens to Israelis and by Israelis, is therefore international news. Second reason: We have higher expectations from Israel than Arab/African nations (perhaps its unfair, even racist, to do so but it's true nonetheless.) We expect Israel to act 'better' in how it treats its minorities and how it responds to threats. Perhaps we shouldn't, but then again if we didn't expect them to act better then we (the US) probably wouldn't be supporting them in the first place.
20. The best way to deflect attention ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.24.12)
... from the non-existent so-called "plight" of Israeli Arabs would be to send them to Ramallah or Gaza. When there are no longer any Arabs in Israel, it will become a non-issue. We don't have to put up with the excessive scrutiny of an overzealous world that ignores REAL human rights crises.
21. The BIG trick
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (01.24.12)
Rights belong to people as HUMANS.Unfortunately Mohammedan propagandists are experts at confusing human rights with Mohammedan rights and because,in an equal society there are NO special Mohammedan rights, they claim violations of Mohammedans' human rights. And the Human Rights Dolts fall for it and criticise Israel. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
22. To: No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.24.12)
Do you REALLY mean to suggest that international convention and statute be turned on its ear to accommodate the ersatz "Palestinians?" Why should a separate set of rules apply to Israel than that which applies to every other sovereign nation? Must I remind you that Israel has been drawn into six wars (the Arabs were the aggressors in all six), has had to endure seven decades of unrelenting Arab terror? Is it also necessary to remind you that the ersatz "Palestinians" have rejected a two-state solution on no fewer than three occasions? The last offer would have awarded them 90% of the West Bank and East Jerusalem as a capital. They rejected it in favor of starting the second intifada. Bad decision, but hardly the fault of Israel. What should be evident to even the most ill-informed observer is that the ersatz "Palestinians are not in the least bit interested in peaceful co-existence with Israel; they are interested in supplanting Israel. That is never going to happen. For you to suggest that Israel must adhere to a higher standard than every other nation in the world is unconscionable. But it speaks volumes to your hatred of Jews and of the State of Israel.
23. To: No. 14
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.24.12)
Matter of degree and method. I think that when the United States as currently constituted restores ownership and/or control of the country to the various native American tribes whose land American settlers REALLY stole, you might have something to say. Unless and until, shut up. The only true and identifiable indigenous people in Israel are the Jews. Everyone else is an illegal squatter and interloper.
24. #23
Jonathan ,   MN/US   (01.24.12)
"Everyone else is an illegal squatter and interloper" you can say that all you want but it do'snt make it true. And your comment just proved his point, your using the civil rights violations of others to cover israel's.
25. Jonathan #24 let's compare
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.25.12)
Do all of our citizens have equal rights - yes they do. There is no restriction on them and we all have equal rights if not responsibilities. Now for America - do all Americans have equal rights? No they do not. You have a two trier system were some people have more rights than others. And that is in your Constitution - clean up your act before telling us what to do. Our record on civil rights is far better than yours.
26. hUMAN RIGHTS
JOSH ,   sWIZERLAND   (01.25.12)
HAARETZ WON'T APPROVE THIS ANALYSE I GUESS !!!
27. One More Irrational Response of the Anti-Israel Crowd:
Dallas ,   Canada   (01.26.12)
The Security Barriers compared the the Berlin Wall: It's to keep murderers OUT, not to keep citizens IN.
