1. His name proves it
David ,   On this planet   (01.26.12)
Another Egyptian claiming to be a SO called palestinian. Gingrich is right, A fake made up Nation building an illegal city
2. I hope Hareidim buy there
Avi ,   Jerusalem   (01.26.12)
Within a short period, it would be the largest Jewish community in Samaria.
3. very interesting, so..
SA ,   USA   (01.26.12)
Okay, so if they are starting to build their own cities, that means they must not be refugees anymore! They have practically made the camps into de facto cities anyhow. Now we can close the offices of the UNWRA as they are no longer needed, and stop treating them like the biggest human rights issue in the world.
4. #1 the name of all your prime ministers
Nour ,   One State   (01.26.12)
They prove you are a bunch of economic migrants from Europe so spare me. Palestinians are close relatives of their neighbours...i.e the real Semites.
5. #2
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (01.26.12)
The Arabs believe in apartheid. When they say "Israelis" they mean "any Israeli who is not Jewish". But what is missing here is Netanyahu. He illegally froze Jewish building and encouraged massive Arab building including a new city, while received nothing in return. Not only do the Arabs refuse to meet him (after he froze Jewish building), they make heros out of the murderers he released.
6. a town for the middle & rich paid for with foreign aid
zionist forever   (01.26.12)
Rawabi is going to be a nice little upmarket town designed for the rich and the middle class but poor people will never be able to live there. The residents will live in their own little world where they can go shop in the malls and go to the country club in their spare time. The majority will still live in the likes of Jenin which is all they can afford. All this of course paid for by foreign aid money, nice to know its going to going to help the ordinary people. The JNF also disgustingly donated thousands of trees as a goodwill gesture, they were later all pulled up when it discovered that the JNF donated them.
7. 4 years for permission. About normal for Israel.
rebecca ,   Modiin   (01.26.12)
BTW doesn't PA law have a death sentence for selling homes to Jews?
8. This is a Palestinian settlement, not a city.
Jake ,   USA   (01.26.12)
Unless you consider Ariel and Maale Adumim a city also. Will this be dismantled if there is a one state solution?
9. PERFECT place for Israeli leftists, time to move.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (01.26.12)

QUDS ALYAHUDI   (01.26.12)
Ya Noura. Jews were in israel before Islam was invented. Jewish Immigrants from all over the world are coming home after 2000 years in exile. What is the meaning of Judea & Samria. Judea comes from the word JUDAH, and JUDAH and in Arabic you say YUDAH which stands fro YAHOOD. We have your quran as our witness
12. Let me get this right...
Eli F. ,   SomeWhere, China   (01.26.12)
Al-Masri is as the article states " Took part in the first Intifada as a Fatah activist and was expelled from the territories". And it goes on to "At this time he resides in the United States, but spends some time in Ramallah as well"...So, a known Fatah terrorist, is living in the U.S.? How does this Scumbag get into the U.S.? Who does he pay off? How, from g-d knows what he did in the "Intifada", did he become a millionaire? Anyone notify the U.S. Immigration Authorities yet? .
13. They are building on JEWISH Land!
Arik ,   Hadera Israel   (01.26.12)
This is our land, all of it, Judea Samaria is where the name Jewish come from, they are stealing our land, step by step, with the help of the US, EU,corrupted israeli politicians and the rest of the world. But in the end, all the land will be ours, like promised by G-d to Avraham. So thank you for building a city which in the end will be ours...
14. no 4
LION OF JUDAH   (01.26.12)
Nour, Your Quran is against you, because Quran acknowledge Israil are Yahod or Yahodi Islam have no claim whatsoever to the land of ISRAIL
15. It's a good thing and
arne ,   chicago usa   (01.26.12)
here's why--when the Pals are brought into the modern world they will begin to appreaciate the Israelis for what they've accomplished and will want to live the better life. Death will no longer be an option.I'm happy and hope the city will bring a new thinking. It's a start anyway. P.S. Israel should not block easy access to the new city.
16. you talkbackers wanted nothing short of Armaggeden!
avramele   (01.26.12)
This is a positive development and a positive response on the part of both the Israeli bureaucracy and in the statement of the developer... In the two state peace to come why not have some settlers remain as citizens of Palestine? But no, we have only a misguided belief that another war will solve all your problems! You are the descendents of the destructive messianists of Massada and Bar Kochba's followers and the rest of us are the heirs to the true rabbinic tradition. so tragic that innocents will suffer on both sides as a result of your folly.
17. #4 big difference between immigrants to a sovereign State
William Geller ,   Israel   (01.26.12)
and people who claim to be some ancient unique ethnicity. Our PM never claimed to be from the region for hundreds of years but he was born here, which is more than most Arabs who claim to be "Palestinians" where their parents were illegal economic migrants and their children after 1948 was mostly born in another Arab country. The point of #1 post is simple - you're a made up people with a fabricated narrative of being some unique population (even though DNA tests and years of documentation prove otherwise), and the name "al-Masri - the Egyptian" basically proves his point. And - there is no "real semite" or fake semite. That's yet another fabricated narrative concocted in lieu of a real history and real culture.
18. Let the arabs finish building it,
jason white ,   afula, israel   (01.26.12)
then we Jews can move in. It is on our land and we do not need another illegal arab settlement.
19. Appartment in Rawabi
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (01.26.12)
If I were an israeli, and had to decide, where to live, in a lion cage, together with the tenant, or in a flat in Rawabi, I should choose the lion's cage, because it is more secure.
20. maybe I will move there
alsky ,   toronto   (01.26.12)
as a new immigrant I will look for cheap housing. Not sure if its worth getting a knife in my back.
21. 6 - poor people will never be able to live there ,...
split ,   US   (01.26.12)
Can the poor in Israel live in towns or neighborhoods designed for the rich, can the Israeli poor live among the poor, let's say Etiopians among Haredis? ,... You're full of BS no wonder you call yourself a zionist ,...
22. #16, cowardice is nothing to be proud of
Jake ,   USA   (01.26.12)
Whoever you are, you claim to be sane & rational unlike us crazy Jews who dare to demand a whopping 1% of the middle east as our sovereign homeland. With all due respect, you can wait patiently for the Temple to come crashing down from heaven, but most Jews are beginning to realize that the ultimate redemption is as much a human undertaking as it is a Divine promise. I am not a member of Chabad but I agree with the late Rebbe who said that the land was restored to the Jewish people in a miraculous manner, and we are forbidden to "give back" a gift from God. From a logical perspective, there is nothing wrong with the argument that the West Bank belongs to the Jews because it is within the ancient borders of Israel, the great nation that never dies. The PA will eventually replace the Jordanian sham of a government in Amman, and West Bank Arabs will live peacefully among Jews under Israeli rule. Shalom.
23. to # 1 (David)
Marco ,   USA   (01.26.12)
I suggest you take some cultural lessons. Al-masri is afamily name in Palestine and doesn't mean he is from Egypt. some cultural lessons won't hurt you.
24. to Jake #22
avramele   (01.26.12)
You say: "The PA will eventually replace the Jordanian sham of a government in Amman, and West Bank Arabs will live peacefully among Jews under Israeli rule. " And respectfully will you give West Bank Arabs the vote and full political and Civil Rights? And will you integrate them into Israel's social service system? will you pay for their schools and housing? Will you build up the infrastructure of Jenin and Rammalah? And when the expanded state of Israel is 25% haredi and 35-40% Arab where is the zionist dream. Maybe a different two state solution is necessary --- Your bi-national greater spartan state of Judea and the free and democratic zionist state of greater Tel Aviv.
25. # 21
Birdi ,   Israel   (01.26.12)
Dont worry, no one in Israel is as poor as you are.
26. 21 - Another hasbara loser ,...
split ,   US   (01.27.12)
27. That city should not even EXIST !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (01.27.12)
28. #24, The Palestinian government will have autonomous rule
Jake ,   USA   (01.27.12)
...over predominantly Arab areas in the West Bank, just as they do today. So no, it would not be Israel's responsibility to fund roads, schools and infrastructure in Jenin and Ramallah, since those territories will be administered by the Palestinian government in Amman. We can work towards a simple peace settlement such as this one, or we can perpetuate the status quo forever. I prefer peace.
29. Right way to go...
Golani ,   Israel   (01.27.12)
"We wish to change Palestinian mentality where life is confined to the home…we wish to return to the warm neighborhood feeling I remember from my childhood in Jenin, where everyone knew everyone, but to do so in a modern fashion." Right way to go...
30. The truth is...
Israeli ,   Israel   (01.27.12)
Reading the talkback of that article makes me both anxious but also, some how in a way, a shame of being a Jew, or Israeli… There are only 3 alternatives to come out of our situation. a- An all war where the goal is, “kill them all”, as a Jew or Arab. (Erase what you don’t like between Jew and Arab) b- One (Jewish) stat solution, where everybody lives together in love and harmony… (we may all dream) c- 2 stats solution. I find it necessary to remind you all, the politically fact Israel is a recognize stat by the entire world, is the result, of the good will of the UN in 48… I find it necessary to remind you all, the politically fact UN did not ever, in any form of resolution what so ever, demand, or even try to force Israel as a free stat, to move back to “67 border line” with no room for compromises… (Read 48 ceasefire line as border between Israel and “Palestine”) I find it necessary to remind you all, that if the entire world was, politically, “anti-Semitic or Jew haters”, the entire world would have for long a go, forced Israel to move back to 67 border line with no condition… I find it necessary to remind you all, that the entire world, politically, is fully clear that Israel have the right to leave in peace with no treat for her existence. Oh yes… I’m wrong… Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran (obviously) wants to destroy Israel… Well, when you guys obviously, write here you see only one alternative to our problems… I don’t blame them… And just to make it very clear to all of you… No… I’m not a leftist… And yes… Yes, I fought for my country, children… I even gave my blood for the “right case” in 2006 with no regrets… (Even if I’m P… about the outcome of it) But I certainly won’t give my blood for an all war (kill them all) you guys obviously see as only one solution… You should stop thinking like Hamas, Hezbollah or/and (obviously) Iran, and start thinking about your children’s future guys… Of course… I may be wrong… Maybe there is a 4th solution… In this case, please tell me about it in your comment, otherwise I wont even care about what you guys write… Shabat Shalom
