Of course the Cenacle does not belong to Israel. My house also does not belong to the country I live in, but me. Still, I have to pay property taxes. Or do you mean that the land on which it is built, Mt. Zion, is not sovereign Israeli territory? So you deny Israel's right to existence even west of the 1949 armistice lines (aka the "Green Line", often falsely called "pre-1967 border"). Thanks for clarifying that.

in America are tax-exempt if they file for and get a 501C3 tax exemption. That includes Jewish religious properties with a 501C3 status. In Scriptures, Joseph in Egypt did not tax religious properties or force them to sell the properties to the State (nation of ancient Egypt) when there was a famine. The religious priests were given food instead of having to pay for it. Churches acquired property from the late 18th century. Each building owned by a church has the church's insignia on the facade, demonstrating ownership.
