1. Poor girl. Hope she will recover quickly.
Suzanne   (01.31.12)
2. Oh, my!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.31.12)
Let's see. Imprison a woman for nine years. Put cigarettes out on her body. Encourage her to commit suicide. Slam her head into a sink. Perfect peace partners, don't you think? How much money do they want? Disgusting. Disgraceful. Nauseating. There are no words. How do you co-exist with people having that mentality?
3. Done by
Sam ,   Australia   (01.31.12)
And all of these inhumane acts were carried out but her own father? She has never asked to be born into her father's family but then she would be persecuted by her own father. SIMPLY UNBELIEVABLE. EVIL IN ACTION BEYOND MY UNDERSTANDING...
4. A BIG question from that couple: Why?how can you defend...
saed   (01.31.12)
Yourself?and what we are capable to do with you?
5. These people are 3500 years late
Yossef   (01.31.12)
It's time for them to learn how to live in a civilized world, according to rules of justice and compassion. Is that our role in the middle-esat ?
6. we have worst cases in israel
to No. 2 ,   israel   (01.31.12)
we have worst cases in israel, and do not mention sexual harrasement of israel president , and PM office manager.
7. not less than life sentance
mohamad ,   jerusalem   (01.31.12)
the man , his wife and their extended families should go to solitary jail for life , am sure both sideds families is partners .. at least how could the families of the woman and the father did not notice the absence of the poor girl ? am sure they new was just didnt care
8. Sorry 2, this has nothing to do with nationality
Y ,   Israel   (01.31.12)
Cruelty is cruelty, and in the past few years we have heard horrible stories of child abuse in the Jewish community, in Israel and abroad. All of us-Jews, Arabs, every religion, every nationality-need to treat our spouses and children with the love, respect and kindness they need and deserve.
9. How many more children are locked up?
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (01.31.12)
When they learn to love their children then may be they will be able to make peace.
10. Sorry #8 - it happens with some cultures more than others
Mark   (01.31.12)
11. #7.mohammad,please don't wash the blood with blood.
saed   (01.31.12)
Search for the reason and think how a person is reaching to a place that is imprisoning his daughter for 9years in bathroom.and to n.9.moshe,don't generalize 1thing to a whole community.it will be called racism and searching for excuse in order to reach to your aim.
12. #6 Sexual harrassment BY Katsav etc
Roseanne   (01.31.12)
The men did the sexual harassment, it was not done to them. Israel is no where near as bad as some former Soviet Union countries and every Arab country. Bill Clinton was/is guilty of the same crime, and his wife condones it - for her own political reasons. In Israel the positive is that even the President can be prosecuted, declared guilty and sent to jail. America and UK allow sexual harrassment to exist esp at high political levels. Democracy and Freedom at work
13. How ridiculous a comment
Rain   (01.31.12)
six months ago a Jew brutally murdered a Hasidic boy in NY, and an Israeli Jewish father murdered his own children. So your logic follows " Perfect peace partners, don't you think?Disgusting. Disgraceful. Nauseating. There are no words. How do you co-exist with people having that mentality? " People are people. Just get it..
14. oh my god
johnny ,   norway   (01.31.12)
i hope the Israel authority sentenced both of them to life in prison. i don't think there humans.. no one in there right mined will do this to there daughter. those people are mentally sick.
15. Girl 9 years
me ,   Israel   (01.31.12)
Please don't attribute this case to others, they are very sick parents and there are alot of ill people thru out the whole world. Its not one race nor one religion, it is sick people...
16. "Victim: I felt like Palestinian prisoners", really?
leo ,   usa   (01.31.12)
17. #6, what is the worst case example that you have in Israel?
leo ,   usa   (01.31.12)
You may be right, but surely you do not expect me just to take your word for it, do you.
18. #13, Rain
Anna ,   Montreal, Canada   (01.31.12)
We find sick individuals in every society. The examples that you presented are showing different kinds of madness. That's why healthy population is trying to isolate mentally sick people with aggressive behavior. Very often it's difficult to detect and prevent the tragedy. In case of this family, the imprisonment by one member of the family was covered-up by many others. It says a lot about cultural values which are difficult to accept for the more advanced Western societies. People are people and can take away the other peoples' right to exist. When you'll get it then will make a peace The value of the human life must be appreciated. We are born without our consent. We all live once ( at least in our present skin) We all want to be happy. And there is no one has the right to take our rights away. All people have a survival instinct which dictates us how to take care of our offspring. Both natural parents of this young woman must be accountable.
19. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.31.12)
Sorry, but I know of no instance where a Jew encouraged his or her child to be a suicide bomber. I know of no instance where a Jewish parent committed murder of a daughter to preserve the family "honor." I know of no instance where a Jewish parent dressed their child as a suicide bomber for class photo day. The foregoing are rife in the Arab community and go far beyond the pale of mere child abuse.
20. Anna @ 18, you can also add that mother
leo ,   usa   (01.31.12)
of that girl could not speak up for nine years because she feared that local law will not support her claims. To me it is sign of sickness of society as a whole. Let's hope it is beginning to turn because freed girl could also be seen as sign for the better.
21. To: No. 13
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.31.12)
So, those who would imprison and cruelly torture and brutalize a child consitutes your idea of "people?" How about fathers who slaughter their blameless daughters, allegedly in order to preserve family "honor?" Are they "people," too? How about those who laud and praise the massacre of a sleeping family of five, including three children, one of them only four months old? Do they constitute your idea of "people," too? What about the riotous celebrations on the part of the ersatz "Palestinians" in the PA and Gaza in the wake of the events of September 11, 2001? Still think they're "people?" You can point to isolated incidents where perpetrators of vile and inhuman acts are Jews; unfortunately, in the Arab community, such behavior seems to constitute the norm. Do you have any idea how many streets have been named for suicide bombers? Don't you find it revolting? I do. You need to get over yourself. You're an idiot.
22. Sarah B is correct # 8
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (01.31.12)
What other group has honor killings, slits the throats of babies and fires rockets at school busses and passes out candy for these things?
23. Rain # 13
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (01.31.12)
People are people. No Rain, some people are animals. Worse than animals because they choose to be the way they are. You can't co-exist with people who are sworn to exterminate you and don't want peace. People who happily kill children and celebrate not as individuals but as a collective group because the children are Jewish. You are the one that doesn't get it Rain.
24. Qalqilya
BA ,   Sweden   (01.31.12)
"... the two were arrested by Palestinian police, who turned them over to Israeli police" WHY? Qalqilya is Zone A…
25. A degenerate act by degenerate people from
Harry Wright ,   UK   (01.31.12)
a degenerate society. Theirs is a culture of cruelty and barbarism. From it were spawned: stoning to death complete with rabble spectators who hugely enjoy and participate in the spectacle, honour killings (never mind that civilized societies consider these grossly dishonourable acts) - unwelcome baggage that they take with them when they immigrate to other countries, like the four females killed in Canada, suicide bombings, beheading, chopping off limbs, perpetual jihad, blood-letting for religious reasons, killing off non-muslims, unbridled greed and lying.
26. #6 - not really worse, just more reported
William ,   Israel   (01.31.12)
I have never heard of an incident like this occurring in Israel although we do have our issues of domestic abuse. The difference is - our's end up in court and the criminals indicted. In Arab lands, this is hushed up or the victim is further abused in order to protect the family's honor.
27. #24 - the man is an Israeli Arab
William ,   Israel   (01.31.12)
and since legally the PA doesn't really have jurisdiction over their own people, they definitely don't have it over Israelis. Thus, the father atleast needed to be transferred to Israeli custody.
28. To #21
Rain   (01.31.12)
Racist generalizations. How many Arabs or Palestinians do you actually know? How do judge a whole segment of Israeli society from far over there in the US. You take an extreme case and pin that behavior onto a whole group of people. That's racism pure and simple. I invite you to come and live here in Israel, with Arab neighbours. Or perhaps not. After all, it's far easier to see everything in black and white. see everything in simplistics terms. If we don't see the other as human, then we are not obliged to behave as humans where they are concerned, right?
29. Rain @ 28, there are cases when generalization
leo ,   usa   (01.31.12)
is not only allowed, but is necessary. For example when you are describing behavior not of individual, but of society as a whole. Most of the people commenting here are very well versed in the subject so you can spare us your demagoguery and cheap charges. I suggest you stick around and learn before trying to pass any kind of judgement.
30. Lock the sick bastards up in a toilet
Talula ,   Israel   (01.31.12)
and let them both rot there for what they did to this poor kid. I must say, she is amazing, she never lost her will to live during this terrible time in her life. I hope she can put it all behind her and move forward to make a healthy and happy life. I'm just wondering why it took so many years to find her.
