3. Solution:
Marcela Araújo ,   Brazil   (02.08.12)
Find cat soldiers... :D
4. Very easy method
Oleg ,   USA   (02.08.12)
Old and very easy method, but nasty of course. Take several rats into close area. Keep them without food until one of them will start killing other to feed on herself. Then give her more rats. Then allow her a food and a live rat to see, what she will choose. If she will choose a live rat, you can let her free. She will be a cannibal killing any rat she sees.
5. Try an old fashioned solution
Israeli grandma   (02.08.12)
Dogs make very good ratcatchers. Especially if they are not overfed, they will supplement their diet with rats. One of Mother Natures oldest solutions to over-populations.
6. Get some cats for pets.

7. Rats in the IDF
Benjamin ,   Greenville USA   (02.08.12)
If rats are running rampant in the base, then sanitation must be poor. Moreover, the brass must have little concern for the ordinary soldier to allow this plague to continue. It is a moral killer. If you cannot defeat rats, then who can you defeat?
8. Better get them out quickly
BH ,   Iowa   (02.08.12)

13. On a serious note...
me ,   here   (02.08.12)
Rats - and roaches - will be a real trouble during a possible, prolonged war, when sanitation in cities and villages may become very poor. We had better learn the lessons from the IDF base now.
14. #12Henry..Don't be naive!
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (02.08.12)
You always hurt the one you love. Do I hear distant wedding bells? THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
15. Most definitely, #6
Cameron ,   USA   (02.08.12)
I had one helluva problem with mice and rats when I was living in an old building in Chicago. Didn't make much headway with those devils until I started keeping my neighbor's tough old cat, Tigger, in to prowl the apartment at night while I slept. My boy put the bite on 'em all and cleaned the problem up in a week. It's what cats do best.
16. Ratatouille.....
Koose E Mack ,   NY NY   (02.08.12)
Dogs, Cats, and Ferrets are a possible solution.. Also...sanitation is essential....Keep the garbage, especially food scraps in sealed containers lined with menthol/minty plastic bags. They repel rodents!
17. Dogs don't EAT rats
Keats ,   New York, USA   (02.08.12)
Terriers might catch rats, but I don't know of any dog that eats them. I also had dozens of cats over the years and never known a cat to eat one either. Certainly if the did, only the body part. I think "supplementing" a diet with rats, be it dogs or cats, is unrealistic. Catch and kill? Yep - let the terriers and the cats out. If these things are big and mean however, you might find some injured or dead dogs and cats!
18. I don't even wanna know Oleg
Keats ,   New York, USA   (02.08.12)

Rat terriers Cats. Ferrets ...other native rat catching animals
29. Try moth balls.
Mea   (02.09.12)
They work, believe me and you only need like four for a whole house. Place them under the buildings away from where they could be picked up, as they are extremely toxic. However, they will rid the building of mice and yellow jackets in minutes!
30. #4 That's really gross.
