31. #4Abdel Karim Salim:Still not quite right
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (02.10.12)
The Arabs might say that Israel is the root of the so-called refugee problem, but they are wrong. The root is the illegal invasion by Arab League countries in 1948 that caused the influx of displaced persons. They STILL refuse to face up to this and THEIR responsibilities. If they can still blame Israel for a situation that arose 64 years ago, they should be prepared to look back 64 years at their own misdeeds. Even more, after 64 years,it's no longer a refugee problem but a problem of people whom the host states REFUSE to absorb and grant the usual civil rights, preferring to maintain an apartheid system., The Arab tyrannical regimes have maintained the deception that their peoples' problems are the fault of the west and Israel, for decades. That lie' has been busted and the truth has been laid bare that the responsibility lies with the evil regimes. The 'refugee' deception is just the same. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
32. Further proof people do not think.
JMK ,   NYC   (02.10.12)
33. Cynic #2 not exactly
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (02.10.12)
Not a single Muslim scholar of any note agrees with a single thing you wrote. Islam does not have 3 holy sites. That was an invention of Arafat's Uncle the Nazi Grand Mufti in the 1920s. A vast majority of Arabs don't care about Jerusalem. It's ours and has been for over 4,000 years now.
34. The Palestinian Kabuki dance.
John Prophet   (02.10.12)
It was ALWAYS the good cop bad cop scenario, anyone with a modicum of intelligence could see that. Now, that this little charade has been made clear by the parties themselves, idiots on the left will be falling all over themselves trying to spin this as a positive. In the years this little dance has been going on, the enemies of Israel have been arming to the teeth. Israeli governments and the West in general have been anesthetized by the false sirens of peace. The Palestinian unity now, signals the enemies of Israel are now where they want to be. Positions are now ready for the great struggle of our time!
35. UNRWA/UN should organize NEW LIFE via NONVIOLENT TRANSFER.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (02.10.12)
36. #6 - now they number 10 million?
William ,   Israel   (02.10.12)
They went from 700,000 in 1948 to 10 million in 6 decades??? Unless they're all having babies 24/7 or recruiting "Palestinians", I fail to see any credibility in your obviously inflated numbers. Two important points exist here: 1) Yes, they, like all humans, have human rights and deserve them. However, racist terrorism is not one of them, and therefore they paid the price for years over their inability (but not lack of effort) to perpetuate a monumental war crime. Winning wars of survival does not make us responsible for the losing party. After years of hatred brainwashing, I doubt highly many would live in peace with Israelis. That has been the consensus for decades. 2) No matter how many "Palestinians" there are - 1 million, 10 million, 100 gazillion.....only those who were born in the region before leaving or had been in the region and legally owned property have the right to return, if that option is available - not those born in a refugee camp in Lebanon, not those who squatted on public land illegally. The big question which no one seems to ask is - if "Palestinians" - Arab hostiles basically - were allowed to immigrate to Israel, they would most likely head to Arab neighborhoods. What do the Israeli Arabs think about this prospect and the straining of limited resources on education, infrastructure, employment, and basically a mis-match of cultures and mindsets?? Israeli Arabs will bare the brunt of this unfair surge, which outsiders are trying to thrust on Israel, and the only people who will see this as positive are the likes of Zoabi and Tibi who see a fresh group of ready hostiles.
37. #2 - except that Jews were killed in massive genocide
William ,   Israel   (02.10.12)
while "Palestinans" continue to grow in size and hostility. Not exactly a similar situation, nor do the "Palestinians" warrant an immediate attention as they are in no risk. But I do agree with you - during WWII, the Allies largely ignored the fact that Jews were being systematically exterminated, in order to focus on fighting Nazis.
38. Making money out of the paleastinians
Beautiful Burnout ,   LOndon UK   (02.10.12)
The British newspaper the GUARDIAN and their writers are one of worst offenders by promoting the palestinian conflict for their own interests, they must have made a lot of money out of this conflict. They have writers who write about nothing else usually anti-Semitic anti-Israeli anti-Zionist articles.
39. "palestinians" to #4
ef ,   USA   (02.10.12)
Palestinians are invented people, and invented with only one goal to destroy the State of Israel and would never call themselves “ Palestinians” otherwise. They try, by adapting this name, to prove they are indigenous people of this land. They are not. Most of “Palestinians” are emigrated here from multiple Arab countries in the end of 19th century, when Jews start to rebuild their Land. So their claim about native people are fouls. They had equal rights as a Jews but lost them when they try to destroy right of others. Everybody have rights to call themselves whatever they want but not to make the goal to destroy others by using this name.
40. The only problem remains
Oleg ,   USA   (02.10.12)
Is that, when situation in Arabs countries stabilizes, conservative religious groops will take power, they will immediately turn their fingers back to Israel. they will have exactly the same problems, because they won't be able to slove them and plus, there is no democracy, arabs do not even know what it is. Saying this, I have to add, that arabs use democratic values established in the West for their advantage.
41. #5 Abdel Karim Salim
R ,   Israel   (02.10.12)
The Palestinians did not have to flee in '48, they chose to. The Arab states you mentioned should have absorbed them instead of keeping them in refugee status. After all, aren't they your brothers? Israel has absorbed hoards of refugees over the past 60 years. And Israel is currently absorbing Muslims (!) from Somalia. That is, the ones who aren't killed by their Egyptian brothers while trying to get to Israel. How alternate universe is that?
42. Obama Cares
Dan ,   USA   (02.11.12)
He will continue to try to sell out Israel until he is defeated in 2012. If he wins in 2012 Israel will be sold out by his administration.
43. Great article. Truth always gets out but can take a while.

46. Refugees
Mikep1738 ,   New Jersey   (02.11.12)
Abdel is 100% correct except for one critical statistic: Recent actuarial studies show that the number of actual Arab refugees from the Arab genocidal wars against the Jewish state is at best between 75,000 and 100,000. Interesting enough, if not for a special unique definition just for this relatively small group of people, most of them would be categorized as displaced persons; the offspring of these refugees most likely number in the millions and have become a unique category of institutional "refugees" by special definition. This group as a whole is one of the easiest refugee problems to solve as they are in countries with homogeneous cultures, religion, languages, etc. Alas, the Arab League cruelly decided to treat their plight as a political issue rather than as a humanitarian issue. Treated as humanitarian issues, many much much larger refugee problems of the same time period have long since been resolved; millions of real refugees and displaced persons following conflicts between Indian and Pakistan, North and South Korea, World War II, Greece and Turkey, etc. refugees by virtue of a one-of-a-kind special definition. It is rather bizarre that while Palestinian Arab leadership demands a state of its own, it simultaneously insists that their people return to an entirely different state whose people they’ve been taught to hate, whose culture is alien to them, and whose very existence is eventually hope to end.
47. # 41 the Arabs did not have to flee in 48
ben   (02.12.12)
like the Arabs of Dier Yassin who made a treaty with the Jewish before they were massacred. The residents of Houla Lebanon did not flee in 48 either. They didin't even oppose the Israel troops when they came to thier town but were quickly slaurhtered
48. TO # 2, STEVEN BENASS
David ,   HERZLIA,iSRAEL   (02.12.12)
WHAT?, YOU STARTED SMOKING AND INHALING VERY EARLY TODAY? WHAT ARE YOU ON ABOUT ?
49. #47 So how come more than 20% of population are Arabs?
Sam ,   Framingham USA   (02.12.12)
50. Native Americans? Who cares! Benassi is occupying your land.
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (02.13.12)
More bunk from the white man. Benassi has a hard time admitting that he's an illegal settler on illegally occupied native land. The Jews come from Israel. Benassi comes from Europe. Go home, Benassi.
51. it happened before
mueer ,   jordan   (02.18.12)
