31. Some forget that they WARN against therapy
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.13.12)
but don't rules it out completely . I think that a 100 % gay , who was BORN gay can't be "converted" to an heterosexual life . There are "gays" who have ADOPTED this as a lifestyle , they can certainly change . Hate of gays is the same as hating because of different skin or beliefs . Some hate , or dislike , without having met one who is different , without knowing someone . Religion is here also the guilty , it is "forbidden" in a certain way , so "believers" hate them . That's religion ? Where is the "ve'ahavta et re'echa kamocha" then ?
32. 20 Gadi I know many gays....
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.13.12)
and they are mostly more humane and sensitive then straight men. You say "i knew i was gay from an EARLY AGE" .Here lays the problem. Who told you are gay? and why? Because as a child, you did not feel attracted by girls the way adults do? Or because you liked to play with dolls? May be you had skills to become a "grand couturier" People don t comprehend that boys can have feminine tastes and still be a 100% boy. If G-D wanted you to be a girl,He would have given you the adequate tools. One doesn t play violin with a hockey stick. I don t judge you Gadi, you sound like a fine guy. But what i disapprove is exposing and giving a wrong message to fine and sensitive boys, who need to first find real love, before being attracted physically. It can take some time. I wish you lots of happiness,Gadi.
33. 21 JK If the child was told..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.13.12)
about the prediction,no wonder they were right.
34. 20 TRY II Gadi
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.13.12)
Most gay are fine and sensitive people. But i think they make a mistake by believing, they are born gay. How could you know from an early age that you are gay? Because you were not, as a child attracted by girls the way adults are?Or because you did prefer to play with dolls instead of a rifle? This to me just indicates that you were a sensitive and fine little child, with skills to become a women s dressmaker. Leading your lifestyle publicly and gay parades send a wrong message to young boys who did not yet make up their mind. This is what i resent. But i have all the respect for you as a fine human being.
35. 18 Henry no proof needed
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.13.12)
The same a hockey stick can t replace a violin bow ,a nice guy can t replace a pretty girl. The music is not the same. Henri ,you are never disagreeable.
36. Adam and Steve
Gene Graczyk ,   Santa Rosa, CA USA   (02.14.12)
Oh no! Not THAT old hoary chestnut again! I don't know whether G--d made Adam or Steve, but I DO know that G--d made me and loves me as his own creature, just as He made me. If straight marriage is threatened by anything, it is adultery and lying to each other, not my partnership. I am not asking you to be me. Don't ask me to be you. As for "conversion therapy", we in the gay community have watched it harm hundreds of wounded souls and can tell you that you cannot rearrange the human heart and soul so easily. We are not a disease to be cured. We are your sons and daughters, your parents and relatives, your friends and your teachers, your doctors and your dentists and, yes, priests and rabbis. This is not a passing phase or bit of experimentation. It is who I am, who I was born, and it is the life I have to live because it is the only life I have.
37. #36, +1, good sir, +1
Henry from New York ,   USA   (02.14.12)
We know God made Steve though. He's always there posting rather disagreeable comments from Minnesota.
38. #36 Correction--It's the life you chose to live.You had a
life chosen for you. ,   U chose not2live it.   (02.15.12)
39. #38 Chose to live?
Gene Graczyk ,   Santa Rosa, CA USA   (02.18.12)
And you know this how? Did G-d tell you something he forgot to tell me about myself? Mind your own soul, dear friend. Those of us who have struggled for decades of our lives with this question will tell you to your face that it is most definitely NOT chosen. It was and is a gift from G-d and I found peace when I was finally able to accept that. Suppose the show was on the other foot. What if it were forbidden to be straight and there were all sorts of clever Bible quotes to prove it. Could you change? Can you imagine it being a question for you? You and the Taliban and right wing Christian (hah!) fundamentalists lose all your marbles over this. Struggle more with the question of how you show love and care to those around you--it will be a much better use of your time and may even save your soul someday. Just sayin'...
40. Reparative therapy
Jean-Pierre ,   San Pablo   (06.07.12)
The "Torah Declaration" attempts to help Jews. But instead it hurts them because it promotes the view that people with same sex attractions can actually be "cured" or changed into people with only opposite sex attractions. The problem with that is that this is not true. The very people that would be willing to forgo the prohibited behaviors often also would very much like to believe that they can actually "convert" not only the lifestyle but the actual attractions completely. They end up finding out years later after this approach that is not the case and are devastated. This results in some suicides and leaving the faith. Aside from all the mainstream psychiatric, psychological, social work, the World Health Organization and counselling groups even many experts among people that have been involved in "reparative therapy" agree on this. It does not work. Dr. Abba Borowich, an Orthodox psychiatrist who practiced reparative therapy for Orthodox homosexuals for nearly 30 years concluded that this was an ineffective course of therapy which only increased suffering among his patients and their families . The leader of Exodus the largest public group of people who changed from a gay to heterosexual lifestyle admits that this does not include an end of same sex attraction. A side issue is that the Declaration group primarily relies on someone who is of bad character, in that he has a history of misleading people for profit. The declaration is steering teenagers and others to Jonah, as is evidenced by the signature of Arthur Goldberg. This executive and founder of the organization , Jonah, was disbarred and spent 18 months in jail for defrauding investors out of millions of dollars. He dropped his middle name Abba to disguise himself. It was one month after he got out of jail that he started Jonah to help himself to the money all these desperate families would give him. Also Jonah is using Christian evangelicals and counselors who ask patients to Touch their private parts in front of them. In contrast to the claim that this therapy works, consider the letter posted on Jonah's website in May 2012. A man explains that after 7 years and $20,000 of therapy with no change whatsoever, he now got excited looking at a female in a magazine. He doesn't want to use his real name because he is still looking for the right girl. But he thinks he has succeeded! He thinks he has changed his orientation. Let everyone in this matter be clear when saying that “change” is possible. Yes you can become celibate or marry (if you tell your mate) but you can’t change your attractions and desires! Orthodox religious therapists and rabbis can offer support in an honest and effective way. Then those people will have a better chance of being adjusted with their adopting a straight lifestyle without having to live a complete lie. Of course they should also offer support to all those who don't want any part of this, just as the other Orthodox group that stated exactly this.
41. Therapy Hoax
Dave ,   USA   (11.16.12)
No self-respecting doctor or therapist in the United States believes this "therapy" works. It's simply an attempt to make gay people ashamed and afraid of who they are. G-d created them just as he created straight people. Get over it and let them live their lives.
