I remember 1991 and all the claims about the Patriot Anti Ballistic Missile capabilities.....just a bunch of "smoke and mirrors" and half truths.....I pray that this is really a working Ballistic Missle Destroyer....as I believe in the very near future our Iranian enemies will put the system to one hell of a test of the Hetz's true capabilities.

3. How about missiles that are used to destroy

the enemy? We need weapons of destruction and not just defense. We need to hit the enemy hard and destroy their infrastructure as well as their population.
4. Steve Goodman @ 1, I do not understand last thing about

missiles, but I know the difference between 1991 and 2012 - it is 20+ years.
5. Steve,no.1, in such a case, Israel will also

put Iran to a double-hell of a test. As far as I know, the Iranians do not have any missile interceptors. IF THEY ATTACK US, I hope they will "intercept" our missiles right on their military and intel installations which will surely be shreded to little particles.
6. IRAN WILL BE THANKFUL

IT IS JUST A MATTER OF GETTING ANOTHER DEVICE TO COUNTERACT THIS COCKROACH MISSILE. BY THE WAY WHEN IS ISREAL GOING TO STRIKE. ITS LIKE YOU ADOPTED THE IRANIAN STYLE OF ANNOUNCING ANY DEVELOPMENT. THIS IS COPY CAT.

20 - 21 years to create a flawless working system to destroy any type of missle is not a long time, especially when the opportunity to run tests under the real pressure of Ballistic Warfare is quite limited, when it comes to intercepting great numbers of incoming missles in large quantities....Iran has some 70 million citizens, we have 51/2 million citizens...and we are all packed into nice small confined areas....kind of a "Hells Half Acre" so we must be right on TARGET....OUTGOING AND INCOMING......not just blowing steam...

Jericho I, II, and III ballistic missiles? The III can be equipped with a 750 kg nuclear warhead and has an incredibly high impact speed.
9. #6. Avi: yeah, ISREAL is like MontREAL!

Don't you know that Israel is not in Montreal?
10. Steve @ 7, that I agree.

the trouble is that this isn't a "typical" conflict. israel and the mullahcracy represent opposite ends of the spectrum, especially in terms of values. for israel, loss of life is always tragic, even those of the enemy. on the other hand, the islamists celebrate and welcome death, even of their own, and make no bones about their genocidal intentions. particularly in the case of iran, where the iranian people have always been friendly, there is no need for massive bombardment of civilians, and israel's objectives would be limited to the nuclear facilities and possibly the leadership of the mullahcracy. tehran has declared its intention of "wiping israel off the map", and has armed its proxies in gaza and lebanon with tens of thousands of rockets, whose primary aim is to inflict civilian casualties (because they lack the precision to hit military targets). and if there's a war, israel has a significant disadvantage, having to shoot from a distance, whereas iran's proxies are less than 100 km from the heart of israel. jericho missiles, even armed with nuclear warheads, are not very well suited to israel's goals in this conflict.

impact.
13. Henry @ 12, it depends on what your goal/target is.
leo ,   usa   (02.10.12)
For surface target you are correct, but if you need burrowing/sealing power you would try to use conventional means to penetrate as deep as possible before nuclear explosion.

I actually personally agree with each and every thing you say. Nuking a civilian population would be a horrendoes thing to do. I was only reacting to a poster who assumed Israel didn't have the capabilities to deliver. As to the last things you said: I know. I also think there is little to do about it. The moment Israel strikes Iran, and we're currently at the point were this is no longer unthinkable, you WILL have those missiles raining down on the Israeli civilian population. The only thing Israel can do, is evacuate as many people as possible and carry out attacks on Hezbollah's, Damascus's and Hamas's rocket depots at the same time the attack on Iran is carried out, to minimalize the damage. A very tricky operation.

so far, because we are often on the same side of Israel's security. But I feel I must say, you do us a great disservice by expressing such blood lust. Better we should speak softly and carry a big stick. I fear your comments make the Jewish people look bad - out for blood. Our military pursuits should be strategic, and not focus on destroying "their population." I respect you and your service in tzahal, but I must wonder if your comments are helping the situation. That said, let me repeat that I have major respect for your service in IDF on behalf of your people.
