1. Western states are dumb to fund the UN

Let Russia and China pay UN bills. Move the UN to Moscow
2. Let's speculate everybody
Tom ,   USA   (02.10.12)
Remember the Libyan events and its current aftermaths is cloaked in absolute silence by the Western press. No info is seeping out;-- the iron-clad stranglehold of the Pol.Corr. "free press" is unbeatable. Same now with Syria. Have you ever read or heard a word by the Western "free press" on the rebels? Who are they? Whom are behind them? Who are their financiers? Who are their leaders? The silence of the "free press" is deafening. Where are the garrulous N.Y. Times, the cognoscenti T. Friedman, BBC, AFP, AP? Please make your bet. Faites vos jeux!
3. Russia accuses West of arming Syrian rebels
Lazerbenabba ,   London, England   (02.10.12)
FM Ryabkov fails to differentiate between supporting a murderous regime which Putins Russia believes is OK but when other nations appalled by the massacre of its own citizens try to support defenceless citizens that is wrong; but then we all know how Putins twisted logic works. Desperate to hold onto power and the support of a similar corrupt regime, Assad the chinless wonder does not realise that his days numbered.
4. the cold war is back, thanks obama, clinton

dared threaten the west was way before Reagen stood firm and said: "Tear down this wal!." Then, USA resolve was firm and strong. Now, we have an apologist who will agree with Russia on anything!! An easy slap on the face.
6. Russia Taking Drastic Measures
Adam ,   London   (02.10.12)
What a load of crap that wall coming down in 1989 turned out to be Nothing Has Changed
7. If Russians were not associating with rogue states
Joe ,   Canada   (02.10.12)
Russia's policy of supporting two of the worst criminal dictatorships, in Iran & Syria, is part of the problem it is blaming on the West. Without this unfailing life support the Assad family would already be in exile in Iran & Iran may be less arrogant & menacing. Russia's alliance with unstable states destined like all dictatorships to oblivion is the difficult to comprehend for its longer term significant drawbacks compared to the moderate economic & military short term advantages it derives. Perhaps this illogic policy can be assigned to Russia's current political status as a failed democracy unable to find a common ground with democratic states. Russia feels better with, closer to quiet partners like Iran & Syria (who welcome its leaders with red carpet receptions) than western countries who keep criticizing its fraudulent elections & corrupt justicial system.
8. The Duma is a "rubber-stamp" parliament.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (02.10.12)
As for meddling the afairs of other countries, Russia has done this themselves in the Republic of Georgia. One wonders for whom such hypocritical statements are really meant.
9. Bravo and kudos to Russia! Most of the world supports you!
christianpalestinian ,   nyc   (02.10.12)
10. Russia the next superpower
paco ,   Canada   (02.10.12)
the US empire is crumbling, while the hate is growing stronger towards Israel. The US and israel have catalyzed all those fake revolutions from within Lybia, Syria, and attempted several ones in Iran. US and israel gov are totally corrupt and Russia, Iran, China etc. have all awaken to that. Russia and Iran, Syria and Leb will probably launch an attack on Israel and US in the incoming month. Maybe its time for u folks to get out for a land you do not legitimately own. Without you we wouldnt have problems in the world
11. Russia is run by a bunch of degenerate thugs.
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (02.10.12)
Just like Syria. The West can respond just as strongly to Russia's help in knocking off innocent citizens. Putin is a pansy leader with corrupt intentions.
12. interesting

13. Russia should focus on INTERNAL democratization.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (02.10.12)
14. West pathetically afraid of Russia
Anne ,   toronto   (02.10.12)
Unfortunately, the US is going to buckle and of course has buckled before in the face of Russian threats. The US knows as well as everyone else, should a confrontation go down somewhere in the ME between the two, then for the first time in years, the US would be totally humiliated. It's just plain difficult to get fighter aircraft into the air from the bottom of the Predeterminer.
15. putiin is full of it but dangerous
mohson   (02.10.12)
putin has a small man's complex doing everything from black belt judo to hockey to deep sea diving toprove his mahood.yet like olmert, weisglass, and livni, lawyers all of them, it is suprising how brainwashed he is with enemeis everywhere and of course rebels are being armed in syria as he sends huge cargo planes with rockets to via latakia. Putin will not let go because his fingerprints are all over the litvinenko polonium killing in london and other misdeeds. if he should step down, his files will be xamined and he will end up in lubyanka prison for the rest of his life. he knows it and he will take russia down if he has to go. Israel should not sell any advanced technology to russia as putin is an old soviet in the flesh and he cannot overcome the russian school of brainwashing.
16. cannot sustain
mohson   (02.10.12)
russia is in huge trouble backing assad because over time assad cannot maintain normalcy holding down 23 million though iranians and hezbollah operatives are doing their utmost to kill syrians. The syrians are wild right now and they will remember what has happened. So ultimately russia will lose its mediterranean port. for the good of the russian people, putin should redo the dec elections as russians have a long memory. and they will take it out on putin. it is best that he actually step down now.
17. #9 - how did you measure that?
William ,   Israel   (02.10.12)
"Most of the world supports you" - did you take a poll? Or do you just believe the whole world is united against the US and several democratic EU States? Talk about hubris. Fortunately, you're dead wrong and most of the world does not support Russian inaction on the Syrian slaughter of innocents, nor the arming of the Syrian regime which makes this all possible. Notice the only places where Russia intervenes in violent despotic regimes and civil wars where they supply hundreds of thousands of AK-47s - good for Russian military industries, bad for civilians caught in global conflicts. Dumbass.
18. #10 - you wish will not be Russia's command
William ,   Israel   (02.10.12)
Despite having access to the Internet, your knowledge of intl politics and history are surprisingly little. Russia has always been corrupt and involved in some of the world's greatest war crimes. Does Chechnya ring a bell? China as well in their cultural genocide of Tibetans, their rape of resources from the Yellow Sea to the waters of Malaysia and the Philippines, and land in Africa. As far as attacking Israel - Syria doesn't have the balls, Lebanon isn't prepared to have 1/2 the country become a smoldering cinder, China is too focused on securing enough oil for its own economy, and Russia is too busy trying to re-build its Communist empire under Putin while internal protests rage on. Funny, there were a tons of wars and problems before 1948 but for some reason, it happens to be Israel's fault there are global political friction. Talk about willful blindness. Before 1948 - Arabs were attacking other nations, raping their women, stealing wealth, occupying land, and taking slaves - from Southeast Asia to Morocco - and that started in the 7th century. Clearly - slavery, violence, despotic regimes, and oppression all exist very well in non-Anglo, non-Jewish cultures.
19. The Irony!
Robert ,   New Jersey, USA   (02.10.12)
Does anyone see the irony? Russia intervenes in Syria's civil war and excoriates the West for intervening? Interesting garbage out of Putin!
20. It is all happening under the Big O's watch
Golani ,   Vineland, USA/Israel   (02.10.12)
The geopolitical situation is really heating up and things are becoming dangerous now. The Arab Spring has turned out to be a complete failure and danger to the Israel and the West. Syria is a mess. Iran is about to go nuclear, and much much more is happening and it is all happening under the watch of the Big O. I am not sure if we can withstand another 4 years of this and hopefully people will open up their eyes and vote very carefully. Somehow though, the left always seems to dismiss anything that is not Marxist or extreme left and many of the people that always vote Democrat, really do not understand what the Democratic party represents today.
21. Part of the Problem
Douglas Fireman ,   Chicago, USA   (02.10.12)
Now let's be fair, Paco. You're pretty good at passing around a lot of blame, but aren't You also part of the problem? Cheers
22. The usual antisemite complaint

Open your eyes: in every part of the world (except Tibet) where problems arise, you have muslims. So, what do you have to answer to it?
