Iran is already hurting from current sanctions and other (far more intense) sanctions are coming. Iran is no where near the point of having a nuclear weapon and if they come remotely close to getting one the US will bomb them back to 1950. The EU and the US are solidly behind the idea of increasing pressure on Iran to get it to send sensitive nuclear materials abroad in exchange for fuel rods. Iran is getting close to accepting this--only the details need to be worked out and a way found for Iranian leaders to save face with their people. This whole thing will probably be over by the end of summer.
