The war is over but the memories of the events are not. If you feel that Iran is tougher or stronger or wiser or braver then that is your call. Israel's problem has never been lack of knowledge its always been lack of money. Iran builds midget submarine based on North Korean design. Midget subs are lightly armed and designed for coastal defense only. Ideal for Iran no good for Israel. For jobs where they need something which has a more significant range and more firepower even Iran buys Russian rather than attempt to design its own in the form of their new Kilo Class subs. Israel's Dolphins are based on the German Type 209 but modified to Israeli specifications and the new ones based on the newer Type 214 they are not midget submarines. The Dolphins are just fine for Israel's needs, it gets a big discount from Germany for the purchase of the thing and no need to go to the expense of spending billions to creating a big submarine production facility. Money is the reason Israel develops so few major weapons, and concentrates on small stuff which both the IDF and poorer countries can afford as they are the main buyers of all but the fanciest of Israeli weapons. Israel can't compete with the big boys so doesn't even invest money trying.

The Germans "donated" the submarines because they did not want to close their shipworks and have even more unemployment. In any case, the subs are a lot cheaper and give the Germans much more than the money which is being sent to Greece.

You ever been to a store where they were having a special offer on and you pay less than you would have done at any other time but your still paying much more than they are reducing it by? IWhen it comes to the arms trade worldwide there is an official off the shelf price but usually there is some degree of negotiation involved and the price you pay is based on how good your negotiating skills are. Buying weapons is not as simple as going to the supermarket where the price you see is the price you pay.

If Germany can never pay the "debt", then why pay anything? Germany should stop paying reparations NOW. Sell the subs to Israel for a 5% discount.

Germany owes Israel an "Endless" debt for the "Priceless" lives they murdered. And Israel can ask for all they want of them I feel even though it could never repay this debt. I just hope Germany is repentant for what they did to them, if not severe Judgement awaits them.
