1. Oy vay! They're trying to sell us their lemons!
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (02.27.12)
The V22 has a TERRIBLE record. Not just the gazillion megadollar cost overruns, but it took years and years and crashes and crashes to get the thing to work. So, does it work? For $120 million each do we need these, or should we get a fleet of helicopters instead of each one we'd buy? Beware of defense salesmen bearing gifts...
2. Put obama in one of those,
2Mad ,   צרפת   (02.27.12)
let him make it to Damascus and back, and only then decide if anyone need this. I mean, c'mon - it cannot even make a sonic boom over an empty smuggling tunnel, and looks like any slingshot would ground it.
3. Israel needs helicopters not the V22
zionist forever   (02.27.12)
The V22 is just not something Israel needs because its designed for longer range missions like the US would carry out. Israel has a DEFENSE force which deals with threats close to home and for longer range missions like say Entebbe its to small. Large helicopters like the Sea Stallion are ideal for transporting troops, they are cheaper and probably use less gas. If Israel is looking to increase the size of its rotary aircraft then its more helicopters it needs rather than the V22
4. "PERFORMED EXCEEDINGLY WELL"
MR KIPLING ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (02.27.12)
In other words : a white elephant f''''ng disaster ( and an expensive one at that )
5. If so interested in keeping lines open, costs down ...
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (02.27.12)
If the motivation for selling to US allies was to drive down the cost and "keep the production line going", why were those factors not considered where the F-22 was concerned? Japan and Israel were both very interested in the plane. But the US not only refused to sell it but pushed to shut down the production line, idling untold thousands of highly skilled technicians and engineers. So Japan, Israel and others have to wait until at least 2016 to get a new fighter (F-35) to replace first brought into service in the 1970s (F-15 and F-16). The V-22 is both expensive and *very* vulnerable to surface fire. I've yet to see a case for it.
6. Military aid
David Asleson ,   Minneapolis USA   (02.27.12)
#1. USA gives Israel over one billion dollars for military aid.
7. #6 - and we have the right to decide which products we want
William ,   Israel   (02.27.12)
If the US was only interested in giving away defective products, what good is their aid packages? Keep in the mind the US aid to Israel is spent 100% in the US, which translates to many thousands of jobs and income for families there. Not too bad when you consider the huge cost of Wall Street and Auto bailouts with questionable results.
8. Another batch of F-35s would be better
Vlad   (02.27.12)
Israel needs air-to-air and ground support fighters more than these, because it already has the conventional helicopters needed to land commandos. And these things are terribly unstable. They have repeadely crashed, and one crash killed the craft's entire complement of Marines.
