It is unacceptable that people that called themselves religious could do that. First: if they are religious they should know that there are gentiles that can convert if they follow all the steps the halacha and the rabanut harashit impose for them in order to have a proper conversion. The second things is that we, as jews, are supposed to teach gentiles the 7 Mitzvoth Bnei Noach, because in the time of Redemption, all mankind will know Hashem and His name, and gentiles will serve Him thru the Universal Miztvoth given to Noach. The third thing if those are religious people for sure they did not learn anything about: Love your fellowman as yourself. Which according to the great Rabbi Akivah is what the whole Torah is about.. Having said that, Iam surprised, sad and ashamed to have jews, and ones that call themselves religious, doing something like that.

Where in the story is there any statement clearly saying these thugs were Charaidim. For all we know maybe it was relatives of one of the people whom she helped convert (ie. non jews) They were masked men and the victim herself doesn't know. I have been living with Chareidim for over 10 years and have never come across this so called modesty patrol!!!

This was a deplorable act and no one is arguing that. Of course no sane rabbi would condone such a thing. However I have just one observation: whenever there's an insane Haredi who commits an act of violence, everyone is up in arms, clamoring, "Where are the rabbis to condemn this?" which they should be. But when a secular commits an act of violence, no one calls on anyone to condemn it (mostly because when a secular commits an act of violence, it's not news, unlike when a Haredi does).
