1. Israelis don't get it?
Dave   (03.04.12)
A military strike will never work. Iran has more nuclear sites than declared, some built deep under ground. Iran is a huge and very mountinous country.
2. All this is merely sensationalism
Israeli 2   (03.04.12)
The USA will be there when Israel is on the offensive. The problem is that Iran may want to strike sooner....cause Iran is very very tense now. The article states that Netanyahu effectively brings with him an ultimatum... this will be seen as a provocation and Mr. Chamberlain will not have it.
3. Decided
ZivronNetanyahu   (03.04.12)
Its two states for two people with the Jews having stewardship over security as they are the minority .jewish scientists invented the thermonuclear weapons as a mass deterrent but without the USA superstructures it could not have wielded the terrible threat Let's hope the Iranian people and their leadership adopt Sanity and Survival.
4. Belated and insufficient
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (03.04.12)
First US should have acted effectively against the ayatollahs in 1979. Second instead of sanctions a total commercial blocade would be necessary. Follow the example of " boycot Israel " and boycot Iran.
5. it is netanyahu fault
fad egypt   (03.04.12)
he has been giving into hussein obama pressure since his first day as the PM claiming that this will help in the iranian issue , and what is the result now ?? the US muslim president is throwing israel under the bus , abusing netanyahu weakness to prevent him from defending his country security , obama will not give into these pressures , and netanyahu wont be able to attack iran in defiance of the US , why ?? because netanyahu used to be obama puppet !!!!!! , and obama became the master of netanyahu unfortunately this is the truth i hope i am wrong shalom
6. Obama's arrogance and pride will...
Taz Man ,   USA   (03.04.12)
...not allow him to succumb to any perceived pressure? He's a narcissist who truly overrates his own self-worth and importance. As the Bible says: pride comes before the fall. Israel cannot trust this evil man! However, if he does act it will be for self-interest and not for any love for Israel. God bless, Israel and His Jerusalem! A Christian Zionist
7. Any Jew that votes for Obama Hussein is a traitor!!!!!!!!
Period!   (03.04.12)
8. Quite funny!
M.W   (03.04.12)
:) "Israel and its backers (AIPAC want Obama ..to be more explicit about the circumstances under which the US itself would carry out a strike" the key world : ---> THE US ITSELF WOULD CARRY OUT A STRIKE. :) "Israeli officials are also demanding that Iran agree to halt all its enrichment of uranium in the country, and that the suspension be verified by United Nations inspectors" AND NO ONE CAN ASK ISRAEL TO HALT ITS ENRICHMENT OF URANIUM
9. #1 - Dave- when did you become smarter than
Eyal ,   USA Israel   (03.04.12)
the smartest Israeli intelligence? If Israel thought it couldn't do the job, than why would they do it? The whole world said the same with Iraq.
10. americans first
mike cohen ,   san diego, usa   (03.04.12)
anyone who supports Israel (a foreign country) over America is a traitor Americans for America... no more wars
11. #1: The impossible we do immediately,
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (03.04.12)
Miracles take a little longer! I am not religious but when you look that unbelievable odds that Jews have faced over the ages and Israel in the last 63 years, well, we seem to be quite able to carry out "miracles"! So what do you expect Israel to do? Wait until the Iranian lunatics fire missiles and Tel Aviv glows green? 6,000,000 we lost once. Never again! If you believe US Chairman of the Joints Chiefs that "Iran is a rational actor" you are suffering from the same delusion that he does!
12. No more illegal & expensive US wars for israel !!
christianpalestinian ,   las vegas   (03.04.12)
13. Iran
GeorgeUSA   (03.04.12)
Do I believe Iran is a rational actor? I know what Israelis write in these talkbacks and I know that most of it is irrational. I have to hope that Iran is more rational. I know that the Israelis never miss an oportunity to go to war. I hope the US has enough sense to skip it this time.
14. The US defense budget is gigantic and
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (03.04.12)
the Iranian one is laughable at best...! The military option is a WALK IN THE PARK for the US...only Hussein Obama is the one, who shields his mullah friends...!!!!!!
15. Obama CANNOT force Israels hand...he
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (03.04.12)
is up for reelection and if he continues to protect the Iranian nuke program, he will be KICKED out of office in November!!!!!!!!! Go Bibi go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
16. 11...you dont live in a bubble...
(03.04.12)
Its not a matter of Choosing Israel over the US. If it was, you would have a point. Support against Iran will enable Americans to feel more comfortable that a suitcase dirty bomb will not end up in the hands of Hezbollah who smuggles drugs freely into Texas from Mexico. This is not an Israeli Issue alone, this is a global one. Unfortunately all these wars against Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, etc...have jaded us and we are so burned out that even with a real threat on our hands, we sit back and do nothing.
17. "ask Israel to end its uranium enrichment"
Bluegrass Picker ,   Afula   (03.04.12)
Maybe you should ask the Jordanians & the Saudis if they actually want that
18. The sane way to stop Iran's Nuclear development
John R ,   NYC USA   (03.04.12)
The Israelis started a nuclear Middle East by being one of only three countries in the world not to sign the non-proliferation treaty and build a nuclear arsenal of at least 100 bombs. They could publicly state today, we will transfer all our nuclear weapons to a monitored facility outside of Israel and agree to stop further nuclear weapons production provided Iran halts all development, agrees to unfettered inspections and dismantles their enrichment facilities. Instead Israel will drag the US into a war guaranteed to kill Americans, disrupt the world economy which is already on unstable grounds and reinforce their unworkable foreign policy. The average Israel citizen will pay the price ,as always, of Israel's inability to make a fair peace with its neighbors. Your behavior is used by Iran to justify theirs and same can be said of other Middle Eastern despots. AIPAC cannot succeed indefinitely at which point Israel will actually look in the mirror and hopefully it will not like what it sees.
19. Israelis won't benefit from a war with Iran.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (03.04.12)
Already, the cost of living is up in Israel, and the quality of living is down. The environment is polluted with Depleted Uranium and other toxics. And the only people who will benefit from a war against Iran are the Jewish elite who control the arms industry. The average Israeli will only get more hardship.
20. Iran smokescreen for occupation and settlement of Palestine
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (03.04.12)
Israel loudly plays drums but the world will tire of it, and get back to the core problem, the occupation and settlement of Palestine.
21. with respect, shut up
alexi   (03.04.12)
bibi, stop whining and beseeching obama. lieberman is right in saying US will not intervenas it is recovering from iraq and afganistan, and obama is more inclined towards the moslem world which is his right. Don't talk. make sure iron dome batteries are delivered, fuel and arms extrasupplies are positionned, and the armed forces ready. Jews in the holocaust also begged the world to stop it. and it did not, all of them iincluding us and russia only at the end and only because they were atttacked. Now israel has the power. Iran repeats it will wipe israel off the map, israel should be prepared to wipe kameinei and his stooges off the map as well as his slaves nasrollah and quassem. If you find yourself hesitant, stay close to lieberman and yaalon and they'll make the decision. isreal must not puts in the security of anyone's hands, US or anyone else. The fact that hamas rings israel with thousands of rockets is becasuse olmert put israeli security in arab hands, arabs who are utterly untrustworthy.

mot in miami   (03.04.12)
#18 - stated just as one would expect from someone who spells john with an h.
23. Huh? That's one helluva lot of pushing and shoving.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.04.12)
You can be sure that Obama won't have the guts nor inclination to disappoint his direct handlers and the cabal that illegally and deceitfully pushed and shoved him into the White House. No matter what he says, it won't make a difference to what he will do - continue protecting Iran's nuclear program. If he fails in that, his head will roll. So Israel, you know what and who you are up against.
24. John R # 18
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (03.04.12)
That would be suicide for Israel. Iran doesn't want nuclear weapons because Israel has them but because they want to destroy Israel along with many of Israels Muslim neighbors. This isn't a case of Israel dragging us into anything. In the long run Americans are going to die either way. We are at war with Islam and will be until one of us is either defeated or Islam actually decides to become the religion of peace instead of just saying they are.
25. Rich # 19
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (03.04.12)
I didn't know Dick Cheney and Haliburton were Jewish. Who would have guessed?
26. Response to#14 and #15
John R ,   NYC USA   (03.04.12)
If the Iranians are so laughable why do need US support at all? What you are proposing is unquestionably an act of war which unquestionably will elicit retaliation. Simply bomb Iran yourselves and delay their program for a maximum of 2 years(and guarantee they will develop them thereafter) while the Israeli public gets bombed with their missiles. You are incapable of developing a sane policy but why are you dragging us into yours?
27. #8, #10, #12, #18, #19 et al
solomon ,   bklyn   (03.04.12)
#8, #18 Iran is the one threatening another's annihilation. They support terrorism throughout the world. Israel had many opportunities to use nuclear arms but didn't. Iran is the culprit, not Israel. #10, #12 We Americans have started our own wars, let alone gone to war to defend ourselves. Your suggestion that it is for another country is ludicrous. Although we have been known to help allies. Which you don't want to do? Great for the credibility of the US, yes? #19 What the average Israeli might get is survival. All your posts have one thing in common; you close your eyes and ears to history and the facts it contains. And you expect your posts to be taken seriously? Quite funny.
28. Reply
Styles ,   Canada   (03.04.12)
We get it. Let me tell you that if you think Israel has not considered all the options then YOU are the one that doesn't get it.
29. #18. So tell us John, why did N Korea get into the nuclear
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.04.12)
weapons business? Because of Israel? And India? And Pakistan? Because of Israel? And Iraq? And Syria? And Libya? And France and everybody else? Because of Israel or because they wanted the power that comes with it or what? Ask yourself how come Israel has no disputes of a similar nature from other countries in the area. Ask yourself how come some of them are NOW saying that if IRAN goes nuclear, they will also go nuclear. Are they feeling THREATENED by Iran? How come, they never felt the urge to go nuclear before now, even though they knew that Israel had nuclear weapons for decades? Is it that they never felt threatened by Israel? For YEARS now, the world has been subjected to Iranian rants about destroying Israel. You think those are idle rants? You think Israel would have been able to survive, surrounded by enemies on all sides in a volatile region like the ME, ruled by despots, dictators and madmen? Do you know the difference between offence and defence???
30. #20. Benassi, Israel owns the land and builds on it.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.04.12)
It does not need a smokescreen. Stick to the topic, will you. You are drifting - go take your medication quickly.
