The United States couldn't even rescue American pilots in that pathetic attempt to free American hostages held in Iran. Not only actual, direct military / financial support - but how about the US always bailing Israel out at the UNSC with vetos whenever needed? Without the US protecting Israel in the UNSC, there would have been a UN peacekeeping force in Israel / Palestine years ago already and Israel would have lost its independence altogether. As for the Iranian problem, I think focusing on covert operations and on missile defense (ie, the Arrow, Iron Dome, and other such systems) rather than on full-scale offensive strikes which could trigger a regional war.

I generally don't support Obama but in this instance he has a point. The way to effectively prevent a nuclear Iran is to get them to agree it is not in their best interest. Unless strikes are accompanied by regime change---something Israel couldn't even do in Lebanon, attacking too early will just rally Iranians around the regime and make them much likely to rush a new nuclear program. Let the sanctions toughen to the point that the "green movement" has a chance to reach the tipping point and remove the radical theocracy in Iran.

Go and bomb Iran and wait for the results. Please don't knock the US taxpayers' doors for aid and military help. Just do it yourself. Period.
