1. In eth golus..the religious in general do very well
Al   (03.10.12)
In Israel they seem to gravitate towards poverty. Why is that? Could it be that negativity towards religious Jews in Israel blocks their advancement. I betcha it does. Another interesting observation. When all the social justice petz were demostrating last summer whining about everything and anything, you saw precious few utra religious Jews in the crowds. Why was that? Could it be that is was all a political show.

There getting the picture:don't work,no handout! It's about time.
3. there is NO shame in WORKING! but the OTHER way around.

4. fewer hours: good news, not bad
shai ,   midwest, USA   (03.11.12)
The fact that hours worked per week is lower is good. The ideal in Torah is to work part-time, leaving time for Torah study. See Pirkei Avot 2:2. People need to know they can get a job and not have to work such long hours they don't have time for family or Torah study. Money isn't everything. Most people, religious or not, would would probably want to work fewer hours if they knew their basic needs would be met.
5. You've totally skewed your results
chava ,   yerushalayim   (03.11.12)
Your figures are skewed. If a hareidi man studies after yeshiva to become a professional of some sort or goes somewhere to learn a trade, according to your definition for purposes of this survey, he's no longer counted as hareidi. So, of course the percentage of those working is low.
6. Er... that's about 20% more than Irlandian in Ireland.
Miron ,   USA   (03.11.12)
7. take that welfare teat out of everyones mouths and they will
Al   (03.11.12)
run to a job like they got the runs. Welfare makes you stupid, lazy and fat. Unless you are infirm, old or retarded you should not be getting any welfare.
8. where
sean juroviesky ,   boca raton usa   (03.11.12)
where did they work in a kolel collecting charity how many had actual jobs that arent based on charity
9. #8 -true, there is work and there is work,.
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel-Aviv   (03.12.12)
And why is the govt aiming towards only 63% of them in the future? That's still a lot less than the non-haredim. So the special privileges continue?
