1. Why does the West always support the side that hates them?
Lobo ,   USA   (03.08.12)
Every Arab country in the region hates the West and what it stands for. They want to take us over, and, by helping them, we are hurting ourselves. Are people just that stupid and don't know that the enemy of my enemy is not my friend?
2. Look after the wounded. QUIETLY. Expect
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (03.08.12)
hatred and incitement for your trouble
3.  Be familiar with the devil you kno then the 1 you don't kno
David ,   Israel   (03.08.12)
4. This opinion is mostly true but...
Abraham ,   Sydney, Australia   (03.08.12)
...there are innocent people, especially children, being slaughtered. Judaism teaches to help those in need where possible. I do not know how Israel could achieve this but I know the Jewish state could make a massive impact. I wish it was as easy as sending a team of Sayeret Matkal and US Navy Seals to destroy key figures and Assad, together. This wouldn't surprise me if this actually happened. LONG LIVE THE JEWISH NATION!
5. We are about kicking people out
Matt   (03.08.12)
Not bring more in, they can never go back, then they will turn on us and there will civil unrest in the Golan.
6. THIS ARTICLE IS SPOT-ON!
Rafi ,   US   (03.08.12)
Israel (and the US) should not risk a single penny or life getting involved in the Syrian mess on any side... Nothing good will come of it.
7. I agree, but there is no needs
Yossef   (03.08.12)
to "solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict", just learning to live with it, managing it. That's enough, and we cannot do more. It will solve by itself. No rush.
8. Stay out of Syria? Of course...
TaylorT ,   Earth   (03.08.12)
..getting involved has to be one of the most foolish things I've heard. Why risk soldiers for a nation that will, in the end, be utterly ungrateful for any outside help (more than likely, any nation that tries to help the rebels will get the blame for all chaos that ensues.) Just say 'no.'
9. But it is okay
Sheik, Rattle & Roll ,   USA   (03.08.12)
for the US to intervene in Iran when it suits Israeli interest but not to save the lives of ordinary citizens.
10. Double standards
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (03.08.12)
Israel expects to get military help in Iran conflict, but denies to give even indirect aid for syrian rebels. What anti Assad forces need are weapons to continue the struggle. A similar situation to the Warsaw ghetto uprising and year of 1948 in Palestine.
11. The PSC - judge for yourself - BaronAss Tonge
Tim ,   Brighton   (03.08.12)
On Wednesday this week the London Metro published a letter from a Palestinian Activist about the tragedy of Syrian Children in Syria I cant quote verbatim..but the essence of the letter was..I cant believe the world is condemning whats happening to the children of Syria when this happens in wars everyday. And nobody seems to be condeming the worst crime of all which is Israels crime against Palestinian children When I showed it to some Palestinian friends the sense of outrage was palpable. To dismiss the desperate suffering of Syrias children and then compare their suffering to that of the condition of Palestinian children is a treacherous betrayal of the truth whichever side of the fence you are on. Its a cynical attempt to abuse others suffering to score a cheap PR point against Israel - and this has backfired BIG TIME This is just one example of the recent speight of cheap stunts the PSC and their Supporters especially in British Academia and the Unions will pull..all they have been reduced to is a sad pack of people who have done nothing at all to drive and encourage dialogue and promote peace and reconciliation and worse still whose lack of knowledge of the issues beggars belief And the head of this bunch? The Pointless..Pathetic...Purile BaronAss Tonge
12. When 2 dogs fight, you don't stick your arm in
Cameron ,   USA   (03.08.12)
Infidels have other concerns to attend to. No sense bothering Satan at play in Syria.
13. Presumptions and more presumptions!
Buskila ,   South America   (03.08.12)
The writer rehash a certain conception among 'researchers' of the final results in the dethoning of a dictator. Let me say, in each culture there are many components that help ceate a national mentality,a mentality shared by in large with the majority of its composants, so is the make-up of a population, and helps cement a nation. Dictators, rely on the lack of such cohesiveness to divide and rule. But, there are differences fromone State to another. Iran is made up of multiple minorities who in general share amentality. Afganistan has larges tribes that have more in commun with surrounding nations than with the Pahtun who is the largest Tribe in Afganistan but forms the majority of the Taliban and are on outside of the establishment. Syria, is made up of tribes that are equal in their number. The Allowites.the Assyrians Christians, tje Kurds and the Druzes are of different mentality and have no cohesiness among them: the Islamist are just one component, unlike Lybia and Afganistan and to some extent the Brothers in Egypt. To claim understabding the potential outcome shoulld Assad been dethroned, will be the same as in other parts of the Muslim-Arab world, is erroneous and misses reality on the ground.
14. As sad as I feel seeing the news and children so hurt
meghan ,   israel   (03.08.12)
I dont fell we should interfere in anyway, especially not taking in refugees who are likely to stab us in the back later. Also any help we give we will of course be accused of inciting "a riot" ! We can't win so charity begins at homes and we have enough needy to help out.
15. Helping Whom?
Andy ,   Canada   (03.08.12)
The problem is that no one seems to know who the rebels are and what they stand for. In Libya, Tunisia and Egypt, the rebels seem to actually be Islamists and the new enlightened administrations seem to be darker than the old authoritative ones. Why waste a penny of resources or a drop of blood on a rebellion that has nothing to do with the values the West truly believes in. It is a power play between one horrible brutal regime to the other. Let's intervene in 300 years when the Muslim world takes a step forward in civil development.
16. help
kfir ,   toronto   (03.08.12)
what do you expect? when israel invaded lebanon to help the christian militias the world hated them. why should they get involved again,
17. Confluence of the positive
Fahd alajmy ,   Kuwait   (03.09.12)
This article is wrong in principle and in real polities senses .Rarely does the the forces of the morally good converge with the politically correct stands , Syrian ase applies par none . The clear majority of the Syrians will come to Appreicate it in time and Iran will be weaker for the upcoming showdown with Israel . Supporting the mortally correct will pay .
18. Staying out of Syria, when Syria doesn't stay out of Israel?
Yair   (03.10.12)
19. When two dogs fight....
Roger ,   USA   (03.10.12)
Then the US should stay out of the Israel/Iran conflict.
20. send aid to the refugees by all means
Mike ,   St Albans, UK   (03.13.12)
but dont touch syria with a barge pole - the people who replace Assad will hate Jews with an equal passion efforts should be made to gather intelligence on the new enemy that succeeds Assad, not to help them
