1. Thank you Mr Meotti
Mosskyboy ,   London   (03.08.12)
I really enjoy reading your articles, i feel that you tell it like it is! growing up in London and having English parents i never really thought that much about Israel or being Jewish, yes i went to a Jewish high school and learned but was too busy messing around partying! however, i had my 'awakening' when thousands of Londoners in 2006 marched under the banner 'we are all hezbollah' it shocked me and scared me and i have become obsessed with the conflict and understanding our haters... i read books, articles, history, went to demonstrations etc over the last 5 years. Regret that this learning experience has darkened my view on humanity - it sickens me the amount of hate, lies and propaganda is spread about jews. go on any liberal website (Guardian, BBC etc) and just read the comments as to what people say about israel/jews, even videos on youtube with millions of hits. sick. shocking how folk who have no connection to israel or the conflict dedicate their lives to Israels destruction. anyway. rant over. but thank you.
2. If you don't like your life in Palestine
Jarda ,   Czech Republic   (03.08.12)
you can go back to homeland of Zionism. To Eastern Europe. You are not welcome in Palestine.
3. Useless and trivial
Ralph ,   Rome   (03.08.12)
I wonder how come this author floods all the Israeli news sites when all he does is that he attempts to appease rightists. No new ideas, no creativity, no insight, just repeating something he thinks people want to hear
4. a weak article
Arn ,   Yehud   (03.08.12)
Rachel Corrie was a virulent anti-Israel and anti-American anarchist. What this article failed to include was that famous photo of a raging Corrie in Gaza burning and ripping to shreds the American flag. That photo alone would have carried more weight than all these words.
5. Gaza
Brenda ,   London, Ontario, Can   (03.08.12)
If Israel had left Gaza before Rachel Corrie went there, she and a lot of people would still be alive. It;s possible her death prompted Israel to leave. Should have left a decade ago. What she wanted became government policy. Now maybe the West Bank.
6. To Jarda number 2
Shimon ,   Poleg   (03.08.12)
My dad was expelled from Aden in the Anti-Jewish Pogroms in 67 my mother from Tripoli in Libya where do you want me to go excactly. Ironically you yourself are from Eastern Europe unlike most Israelis. I don't really want to come and live with you. Jews are very welcome in Israel here you however are not!
7. This journalist doesn't exist
Dani Mortimer ,   US   (03.08.12)
His pen is so shining that I suspect that he is a fake. Thank you, Meotti
8. She burned an American flag too
DavidM ,   USA   (03.08.12)
One of Ms.Corrie's final acts was to wave a burning American flag at a rally in Gaza. The flag burning was captured by photographers but is always omitted by the anti-Israel media as it rebuts her image as a peaceful protster. The adults who filled an ignorant young mind with hatred for her own country as well as Israel have never apologized for their actions.
9. @ Jarda, #2
Michael Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (03.08.12)
Two generations ago, your grandfathers told ours that they were not welcome in Europe and that they should go to Palestine... now you're telling us the opposite.
10. Shimon #6
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.08.12)
Well said!
11. The problem isn't Rachel Corrie's Death..
Potash Katiftof ,   Safed, Israel   (03.08.12)
...The problem is Israel caring at all what others think.
12. Guilo Meotti writes it as it is! Well said!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (03.08.12)
The main problem though is that the world does not need Rachel Corries or Mohammed al-Duras to fabricate lies about Israel. Those who hate Jews and Israel were doing so long before the Six Day War and the so-called "Occupation". Antisemitism didn't start with the founding of the State if Israel nor with the Nazis. It has existed in Europe and the Americas for centuries. The Jewish presence in England continued until King Edward I's Edict of Expulsion in 1290. Jews were massacred in London and York during the Crusades. Add to this programs in Russia and attacks against Jews in Europe, the Anti-Israel thing is just a new politically correct version of Antisemitism and is assisted greatly by the Jew Hating Jews in the USA, the UK, South Africa and other countries! The only way to counter this is for Israel to become a little less "politically correct" and expose the atrocities committed by the Palestinians graphically and to make sure that the world sees them whether they like it or not! A good example of this was when the blown up bus was displayed in Europe! The other option is to sit back and let our country be vilified and maligned which is just as dangerous as the Iran threat as it will result in the de-ligitimizing of Israel.
13. Wow YNET very Ipressed that u printed such. rticle!
Jason white ,   Ra'anana Israel   (03.08.12)
Thanx for sharing some truth for once!
14. Nobody cares about that nutcase!
Rabbi Chaim Shapiro ,   NY, USA   (03.08.12)
If her folks would watch her she would not got involved with drugs & radicals. Beware, American parents!
15. #5 Gaza
Nick ,   Sweden   (03.08.12)
Israel has vacated Sinai peninsula, South Lebanon, Gaza and greatly reduced it's presence in WB. All that in hope of securing peace. The reality? Daily terror incidents from Gaza & WB, collapsing peace with islamist Egypt and warmongering by Lebanon. Israel has achieved nothing. Rachael Corrie was a pro-palestinian activist who made an error of judgement and played chicken with an armored buldozer. She lost. Brenda I sympathize with your outrage over her death but you're not even attempting to understand the problem.

Nick ,   Sweden   (03.08.12)
The reason for the existence of Israel is that there isn't any homeland for the Jews. Definitely not in Eastern Europe. What's your age Jarda, haven't you learned anything in school? The story of the Eastern European Jews used to be taught quite extensively in Czech Republic. Why don't you go to a library and read "Útek pred zlutou hvezdou" a very good novel. Educate yourself instead unloading antisemitic BS on Internet and giving Czechs a bad name.
17. fight propaganda with propaganda
daniel ,   helsinki   (03.08.12)
annoying article. i could've even written better. why not add reasoning to why she became such a virulent activist? people have reason to use her name for their cause. israel's cause is increasingly becoming annoying with constant self-victimization. even if israel had a case to build on, articles like these make its protractors look very naive.
18. Cry me a River!
George Rishmawi ,   Jerusalem   (03.08.12)
"Let’s hope that one day these Western peaceniks will ride on Israeli buses to experience the homicidal fear of terrorist attacks, or demonstrate on the streets of Haifa and Sderot, destroyed by rockets. Yet until that day comes, we can say that the human rights industry is rooted in the equality of humankind, with the exception of the Jews. " Do you really believe that you are the vicitms?! Equality of humankind means crying for the Palestinian Rachels also! No need to cite How many more women, children innocent etc.. on what side (the numbers) it is not about the numbers - but even on that front with equality as a criteria Israel is the greatest violator!
19. No. 2 Jarda
NYC Girl   (03.08.12)
Your comment is merely proof of your ignorance when it comes to the demographics of Israel. For your information, more than half of Israelis originally came from the Middle East and North Africa, not Eastern Europe. So, that being the case, why the hell would they want to go back to a place most of them never even stepped foot in?
20. Thank you Giulio, your help is priceless
Yossef   (03.08.12)
21. #2 Thanks for czech hospitality
Raphael ,   Netanya   (03.08.12)
Once your country hosts 20% muslims, like some wester european countries, you will feel as unwelcome in your own country as Sintis are presently.
22. Self righteouness
Raphael ,   Netanya   (03.08.12)
I wonder why no Rachel Corrie is heading to Syria to serve as a human shield for the local civil population
23. LOL
Karlo ,   Berlin (Germany)   (03.08.12)
Jarda, you are so funny :-) It was a very nice joke Kiss ♥
24. Rachel Corrie was hot
Osiris ,   Osiris City   (03.08.12)
She would have become queen of Israel and as Jesus as her king/
25. So again
Jarda ,   Czech Republic   (03.08.12)
where is the birthplace of Zionism? Did Palestinians asked you to come in Palestine and steal their land? What's the difference between "Lebensraum" and Zionism?
26. Washington State still thinks Hitler won the war.
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (03.08.12)
They are a little behind the times. Now if she had been on a plane hijacked by these jerkoffs. Then was shot in the head and thrown on the Tarmack.......mommy and daddy and all of Washington State would have welcomed in all the Palestinians into their homes and congratulated them for the experience.
27. What I see from the talkback
Yossef   (03.08.12)
is that we Jews can rely only on ourselves. Even if we don't agree one with each other all the time we are one people, sharing the same fate. Would we come from north Africa (like me) or from Eastern Europe like many others, we had suffered discrimination, submission, we have been murdered just because we want to stay what we are, respectful of the choice of our ancestors to follow the jewish path. I love my fellows Jews. I love our civilization, I love our way of life. I love Shabbat : the day of rest for everyone. I respect the people who respect me and my choice to stay a Jew in front of the adversity. To stay loyal to my family, to my people. I don't care about the price to pay, it's not high in comparison with the price my people paid already to let me to be a Jew today.
28. Good piece about "Israeli Rachels"! (end)
g   (03.08.12)
Good piece about "Israeli Rachels"!
29. #2 - You're a very confused person
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (03.08.12)
Who isn't happy? Everybody I know is very happy and wouldn't dream of living anywhere else. More than half (55%) of Israel's Jews come from Arab countries so why should they go to Europe? You even took about a country, Palestine, which doesn't exist. Too much puffing? ;-)
30. #7 this journalist exists
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (03.08.12)
A few seconds of search would have prevented you from posting misinformation. Giulio Meotti He graduated in Philosophy in the footsteps of George Steiner. He has written for The Wall Street Journal. And 'the author of "We will not stop dancing" (Lindau), investigative book on the martyrs of Israel, translated in the United States. And 'married. He has a son.
