2. eliminate the heads of hamas
marcel   (03.10.12)
haniyeh, zohar, musra and their significant advisors have to go to allah and fast. To hell with eygptian noise and their conspiratorial paranoia which has not changed over 4000 years.
3. #1 snide, uninformed
(03.10.12)
LOL, it's not a matter of Israel wanting to strike Iran, but to prevent Iran from leveraging its beligerancy against Israel. The weapons it provides its proxies are part of Iran's beligerancy.
4. 1 Don't worry there are good surprise for Iran and gaza
dovdevan ,   ashdod,paris   (03.10.12)
that wait for them ! hamas is aware of the heavy prices it will pay
5. Palestine was a refuge for Jews fleeing the Nazis
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (03.10.12)
...and in return the Jews have wiped Palestine off the map, and imprisoned the native population, and now call them terrorist for fighting back.
6. Sense of justice
Josh ,   NY   (03.10.12)
We need to assert our just cause and start talking in terms of justice and inalienable right to our land. Hamas and other antisemites fill the vacuum that wss created when we stopped applying ourselves and when we stopped tellling the world that its our land and no one else's. Lets create a Jewish state = jewish culture + jewish democracy. Cheers to that day we wake up!!!!!
7. #5 - You lie
Pedro ,   Brazil   (03.10.12)
Read about Muhammad Amin al-Husayni, a Palestinian Arab nationalist and Muslim leader in the British Mandate of Palestine.
8. "Palestine" was invented by Romans
August West ,   US   (03.10.12)
The region called Palestine was an invention of the Romans. There has never been a Palestinian nation nor people. Further, the Jews wanted to be friends with their Arab/Muslim neighbors. It was Arabs who rejected friendship in favor of war. Also, the so-called Palestinians already have a country. It's called Jordan. Anyone who hates Western hegemony in the Middle East ought to remember that the word Palestine was an invention of the West, and it was invented to spite the Jews, who managed to survive.
9. SECURE BIG ISRAEL, nonviolent transfer, BALANCE, time, peace
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (03.10.12)
10. # 5
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (03.10.12)
America was a refuge for people fleeing Europe. I imagine the Indians feel the same way about you unless your real name is something like "Chief Buffalo Chip Benassi".
11. #5 Israel was also a refuge for Jews fleeing Arab lands
Cynthia ,   USA   (03.10.12)
And home to Israeli Arabs who constitute 25% of Israel's population. Poor Steve is too lazy to read history. He missed the part when Arabs declined the UN Partition Agreement so that 7 Arab countries and militias could attack Israel in '48 and drive the Jews into the sea. The Jews defended their land yet assured the local Arabs they could remain safely in Israel. An estimated 160,000 Arabs remained in Israel. Others followed Arab League orders and scattered into refugee camps and other countries as a result of a war started by the Arabs themselves.
12. No. 5 - Oh give me a break!
Faith ,   Israel   (03.10.12)
You know that you are totally distorting the facts. Get real.
13. Number 1 read this!
Mina ,   Haifa, Israel   (03.10.12)
If Israel would be forced to, it can beat Gaza easily and within a matter of days. The reason that Israel takes greater care, is beacuse the terrorists in charge of Gaza, use their own civilians (incl.children and women) as human shields, which Israel continue to make every effort to avoid hurting. If Israel will decide to defend itself fromIran, it should also do quite well. In order to understand why, you should take the time to read about the survival of the Jewish people, the history of modern Israel and its military achievements to date.
14. Number 5 - read this!
Mina ,   Haifa, Israel   (03.10.12)
You have made unsubstaintiated allegations against Israel, too many to bother to educate you. Please take the time to read about the history of Ancient Israel, the re-establishment of Modern Israel by the UN, the alleged history of the so-called "Palestinians", the Muslim and British occupation of the the Holy Land, the wars against Modern Israel and much more. I hope that after that, you would take greater care when accusing Israel of what you just have.
15. Helping too much
Fadi ,   Beirut   (03.10.12)
there is no Doubt in our mind that your action escalation is for diverting the attention from the syrian regime who has been doing an excellent work for you . Gaza escation falls very well in that category added to Barak asking the US to ease the pressure ..let us not forget that your politicians never commeneted on the on slaughter of syrian civilians and describe it at least as an atrocity to feloow human being .. you are the so-called people of God ( LOL ) you should know better .
16. No. 15
Faith ,   Israel   (03.10.12)
Are you and talkbacker no. 5 here related by any chance?
17. Jews Gathering
an American Muslim ,   USA   (03.10.12)
in one place ( the holy land ) is one thing that Muslims and christians agree upon . it is one of the sign of the end of time ( judgement day ) that jews dont belive in . your migration to Palestine is one big fulfillement of the Quran prhesies and actually one among so many miracles .
18. Targeted assassinations
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (03.11.12)
These targeted assassinations carried out at the orders of the Zionist leadership constitute a major war crime. The planners and operatives would be arrested by Interpol and brought in chains to the International Criminal Court if there were any justice.
19. pre-emptive? empty
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (03.11.12)
what kind of nonsense is this? there is not pre-emptive strategy unless we are dealing with changing meanings. the IDF only strikes back, but not before there is a rocket attack. doesn't anyone notice the double think tactics here?
20. @18 target attacks do NOT violate international law
Joe ,   St Louis USA   (03.11.12)
...but if you'd prefer a full scale invasion I'm sure Israel would accomodate. While you're waiting for that, take a moment to read the 4th Geneva Convention and tell me which section prohibits targeted attacks. (Hint: there isn't one.) Or you can just keep spouting "law" without actually knowing any.
21. CAST LEAD 3
Mike   (03.11.12)
Time for IDF to go in again to kick ass
22. Preemptive Or Preventive Strike?
Patrick ,   New York   (03.11.12)
Pre-emptive war is what happens when a state targets an enemy that represents an imminent threat of attack. The Six-Day War was a pre-emptive war. Preventive war is what happens when a state targets an enemy before they can become an imminent threat of attack. The attack on Pearl Harbor was a preventive war. If it was a preemptive strike then Israel is justified in launching the strike. This would mean it was an imminent attack. I don't think this was the case. I think this was a preventive strike to stop an attack down the road at some hypothetical juncture. Killing an extremist groups leader is asking for a renewed violence. Another unnecessary escalation on the part of the aggressor Israel.
23. Preventive strike does violate international law
Patrick ,   Los Angeles   (03.11.12)
I assume you know the difference between preventive and preemptive strikes? You are correct if the targeted strike is preemptive. You are incorrect in this case because it was a preventive strike illegal under international law
24. # 15
Birdi ,   Israel   (03.11.12)
You are totally out of your tiny mind. Go fast, seek professional help, you need it badly.
25. # 18
Birdi ,   Israel   (03.11.12)
yes, & you continue to make an idiot out of yourself everytime you write a talkback here whilst showing your complete zero knowledge of international law.
26. Hello..wait a minute..Premptive?????
Lioness ,   Israel   (03.11.12)
They, the Palestians, have been firing rockets at us for weeks now. . We have the right to defend ourselves!!!!!!!!!!!
27. The consequences
asking ,   Jerusalem   (03.11.12)
You are sure that "we can assume". We shall see soon if you are right. I hope you are right.
28. All the nonsense of 'international laws'
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (03.11.12)
First off the Arabs have declared war on us and have been targeting our civilians. We can use whatever force we deem necessary to end those war-crimes including carpet bombing. Second there is absolutely nothing in any international law against either preemptive or preventative strikes against an enemy force. It does not exist and anybody that claims it had better show us the source otherwise they are nothing more than an uninformed idiot. There is also nothing in international law about proportional response. We can respond with any force we think is required. I am sick and tired of idiots inventing laws that do not exist and have never been applied to anybody else ever.
29. #5 Steve Benassi - Palestine wasn't
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.11.12)
a refuge, it had never existed in the first place No Capital City of its very own, none of its own rulers, not even a few measly coins that proved it was ever and independent entity, nothing, nada, zilch Your Native populations would be ever so much happier in Arabia, where their name says for itself, that's where they came from in the first place Oh yes, let us not forget Haj Amin El Husseini, who went to Germany during World War Two, with the express intentions of helping the Nazis to wipe the Jews off of the face of the earth You really should bone up on your history, where the Arabs & Jews worked hand in hand, to solve the "Jewish Problem"
30. Critical time
michaelpielet ,   Israel   (03.12.12)
