The US has a lower interest in protecting Israel from Arab terrorism than Americans believe. The truth is that America deals with the same Arab terrorism as Israel does, and Israel, being an elite fighting force, matches the professionalism and tactics as the US military. The US gains a tremendous amount of intelligence and combat info through Israel on new anti-terror tactics, urban warfare, and operational info on weapons used in the field which translate back into R&D by the US. We are the US' proving grounds for many things. Their support is only partly altruistic.
