1. Easier and cheaper way to help Israel
elhrac ,   USA   (03.22.12)
would be to stop funding the PA terrorists, and Hamas via UNRWA, and the Muslim Brotherhood regime in Egypt with millions of dollars every year.
2. elhrac @ 1, there is even better solution.
leo ,   usa   (03.22.12)
Not only stopping funding as you suggest, but diverting this funding to support of Iron Dom batteries. . PS. We can dream, can we.
3. Never miss an opportunity to bring up hatred from Americans.
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.22.12)
Once a schnorrer ... Why would the American taxpayer need to pay for Iron Dome? Israel haters will be speaking up, I am sure. Can't Israel put the Haredim to work, or at least stop paying them the huge welfare? This would pay for many Iron Dome batteries while not stretching the friendly relations with America. Ambassador Oren, why are you missing so many opportunities to be fair toward the U.S.?.
4. I agree with #1, plus move embassy to Jerusalem
David ,   Boston   (03.22.12)
What better way to say we stand with Israel than for countries to start moving their embassies to the capital, to Jerusalem. Tell the PA to stop putting up road blocks, sit at the table and make peace with Israel or live with the consequences. They are like a child who wont do anything without getting everything they ask for....not going to happen. Israel settled for less than 20% of the land promised to them and compromised because they were forced to and it was more important to have Israel recreated than 100% of what they wanted. Think the PA can learn something from that?
5. #3 Michael
Rob ,   Orangevale, U.S.A.   (03.22.12)
Couple of things Mike... #1 is that you dont speak for the American taxpayer. #2 you dont have much knowledge of things political or military #3 nobody in their right mind hates Israel. Let me explain the obvious, since it eludes you. The reason Congress has moved this bill forward is to save lives. Israeli lives and American lives. Ya see Mike, if we invest in Israels security with a few million dollars, or lots of millions of dollars, we the USA are less likely to have to go over there and do it ourselves. Make no mistake Mike, The IAF and IDF, as well as the Israeli navy will do their part. We are protecting CIVILIANS with the iron dome. Is that what bothers you. No?. Just a little dim upstairs? Ok Mike, I'll let you slide this time, but now you know. Shalom Israel, Rob
6. Americans wrongly believe US funds to protect Israel
William ,   Israel   (03.22.12)
The US has a lower interest in protecting Israel from Arab terrorism than Americans believe. The truth is that America deals with the same Arab terrorism as Israel does, and Israel, being an elite fighting force, matches the professionalism and tactics as the US military. The US gains a tremendous amount of intelligence and combat info through Israel on new anti-terror tactics, urban warfare, and operational info on weapons used in the field which translate back into R&D by the US. We are the US' proving grounds for many things. Their support is only partly altruistic.
7. To: No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.22.12)
What part of strong bipartisan response do you NOT understand? If you want to take the pulse of the American taxpayer, check with their Congressional representative. Israel is not a welfare state. The United States reaps huge benefits from its investment in Israel. Can you say the same about the billions upon billions of dollars that are poured into that stinking sewer which is the Arab and Moslem world? What have they done for the U.S. lately? Apart from cutting oil production, jacking up the price per barrel, and harboring the most wanted man in the world for ten years? The United States does not HAVE a short range missile defense system. No country besides Israel does. Now, there is one. Everyone benefits, including the American taxpayer.
8. Take it from the $300M PA funds now that hamass are joined
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (03.22.12)
to them, they are all terrorists for sure.
9. #5 Rob, Orangeville.
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.22.12)
Those texts are clouding your brain Robbie. Take your #3 for instance and make a little survey for yourself. Count how many Americans will be speaking out against this speech by Ambassador Oren (who spoke, of course, for Bibi.) You can start with the major newspapers in the US, this coming weekend. Or, read the talkbacks to online press worldwide. No, I will not let you slide as you have better things to do than reading stupid books.
10. more sucking of out tax $$
Joy ,   NJ   (03.22.12)
11. At least regarding Egypt USA can look forward to saving bil-
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.22.12)
lions! The "Peace" is going down the drain, so no need for transfusion to a corpse... While the "Dome" will save some lives it won't save Israel from the Bomb. Actually only the Bomb will do that. Cheaper & faster too. I venture to say that bombing Iranian research sites with highly radioactive/low magnitude nuclear devices is more justified than killing thousands of Japaneese civilians in Hiroshima &Nagasaki was . Make the whole area "hot" for the next 100 years , so they won't be tempted again.... Sounds humane to me.
12. Raytheon already using Iron Dome technology
Stephen in New York   (03.22.12)
to develop a similar system for the US.
13. Isreal gives US far MORE hi tech than it gets
Stephen in New York   (03.22.12)
Israel provides an UNBELIEVABLE amount of weapons and IT technology to the US. Israel gives more high tech to the US than it receives. Raytheon is already using Israeli Iron Dome technology to develop a similar system for the US.
14. The US paying for those additional
seadog1946 ,   ArthurKill, NJ   (03.22.12)
short range Iron Dome/Hairnet batteries, that will be deployed in a foreign country (Israel), is cheaper than the US having to design/build/ship a similar system. We'll borrow the money from China, buy an off-the-shelf product from an Israeli arms manufacturer and pay to have the manufacturer ship it to the nearest IDF facility.
15. i am shocked....
Sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (03.22.12)
That the US will give more aid to a foreign government instead of giving money to local governments in the states that are laying off teachers and policemen due to budget cuts and lower tax revenue. Israel can afford to pay for it's own defense,
16. #7, Proud country, the US, not threatened from short range.
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.22.12)
We don't need short range missiles in this country, but why is it relevant to Israel? Israel would be delighted if the US wanted to buy more of its weapons, of any kind. As an isolated country which does need short range missiles, and which has the technology for developing and operating those missiles, and which has money to spare, Israel should take care of itself. The bipartisan congress would be thankful and Israel would have retained its pride; Ambassador Oren would save time by not delivering shaming speeches. You and I would feel better about ourselves.
17. $$ to Israel a drop in the bucket
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (03.22.12)
how many billions of US dollars go elsewhere to people who don't like America or Israel? Americans fully support Israel. A concept you cannot fathom. Soon, Jerusalem will be the officially recognized capitol of Israel. Israel will annex Judea and Samaria. Meanwhile, muslim on muslim deaths are mounting. Although they are not my friend, I hate to see the carnage and the massacring of innocents by these crimes against humanity. A specialty of the muslims word wide.
18. #11
Jim044 ,   USA   (03.22.12)
Tom, I still like the idea of using a large "EMP" device over Tehran and disabling all their war equipment and computers while not killing all the "innocents", if any. could drop it in with an ICBM then stand around with the rest of the world scratching our heads with "where did that come from" ....jf
19. Russians and Chinese are sweating
Leon ,   Los Angeles, USA   (03.22.12)
Support for Israeli anti-missile defense system helps advance anti-missile capabilities. This in turn scares Russians and Chinese since their nuclear missile "defense shields" are quickly becoming irrelevant.
20. Michael @ 3, let me help you.
leo ,   usa   (03.22.12)
Never ever make anti-semite's problem your problem. . For every lowlife who will be saying this you will find thousands of decent people who are happy and ego to help. . Your comment is the comment of very weak man and at the same time your comment is an insult to American people. . Wipe you nose and shape up.
21. To: No. 16
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.22.12)
There are a great many U.S. assets overseas that do need short range missile defense systems. First of all, Iron Dome can be deployed on aircraft carriers. Didn't know that, did you? Think of all the places where U.S. Navy aircraft carriers are deployed (assuming, of course, that you can think, which is a fact not in evidence). Now, think of South Korea. Forgot that one, didn't you? Next, you may wish to consider the former Soviet republics -- all U.S. allies -- which share long borders with some very unpleasant countries. Oh! I guess you overlooked that as well. You seem to overlook a great many things. There are more examples where short-range missile defense systems would be welcomed by the United States and its allies, but I don't wish to overtax your "brain." By the way, I feel very good about myself. And Israel's pride is that much stronger for having made available to the United States a much needed defense system. How unfortunate that you do not feel very good about yourself. Unfortunate, but not particularly surprising. Perhaps you should consider antidepressant medication in addition to your anti-psychotic meds.
22. #21, I thought out every one of those.
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.22.12)
Like, defending an aircraft carrier is done from the range of its radar, over 500 miles away. But I will not bother with replying to your nonsense -- always simplistic, thought impaired, arrogance amplified.
23. #21 - oh please...
seadog1946 ,   ArthurKill, NJ   (03.22.12)
US CVNs travel within a 3D protective sphere provided by it's BattleGroup consisting of numerous air/surface defense cruisers/destroyers/submarine(s), it's own close in weapons systems and embarked air wing.

You are quite dim upstairs Michael-just read the answers to your post.
25. #9 Mikey and #7 Sarah B.
Rob ,   Orangevale, U.S.A.   (03.23.12)
First of all, to the venerable, verbose Sarah B. Read the article counselor. I was informing my fellow countryman Mike, that he was wrong. Again, I state I would rather defend myself nude, than have you mouthpiece for me in court. Who the hell said Israel was a "welfare" state? Nothing is more repulsive to you, or I, than your so-called "sewer which is the Moslem(sic, your spelling?) world". What TB did you read? "The US doesn't have a short range missile system"? What? Yeah, right dopey. Can you say 'Mexico". How about narco-terrorism? Try mouthing the word Cuba. We have short range weapons. I doubt it is really even you Sarah, or this is one of your stupidest posts. Prozac madam, may slow you up a bit, if it is. Now for Mike, # 3, the guy extolling hate for Israel. Perhaps the haters you talk to are against helping Israel, but here in my hemisphere, ( I live in the outskirts of the capitol of California) people are tired of the Pal, Hamas. Hezbollah, PRC bull!@#$. There are anti-Semites aplenty that will howl about helping Israel. Obviously, you are one of them. We ARE gonna spend money to save Israeli lives, and yeah, probably American lives too. You might wanna try reading 'Stupid books' so you will not look so stupid, and may even learn something. It's a good thing. Shalom Israel, Rob
26. Obscene Handout to Military Contractors
Richard Braverman ,   USA Cafornia   (03.23.12)
.. At a time when returning veterans are living on the streets, when roads, highways and bridges are crumbling, Howard Berman has the temerity to take the peoples' money and give it, not to Israel, but to a select group of military contractors and their cronies in a transparent attempt at theft. Just think $500 million dollars to friends and family without having to prove the junk works. $500 million dollars to stand proudly and throw your chest out while others starve. Berman does not care about Israel or America, he only cares about his bank account.

john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (03.23.12)
Well Rob,how do you know that post no 7 is the real Sarah B?She does not misspell and use capital letters in her post like in NOTt and HAVE.You obviously do not know that there is a Sarah B impostor on this site.Come on, Sarah is not stupid.Shalom.
28. To: No. 25
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.23.12)
Sigh. Iron Dome is not a weapons system. It is a missile defense system. The United States has plenty of short-range missiles, but it does not presently have a short-range missile defense system. DEFENSE system. Get it, dopey? Speaking of "dopey" -- it's "capital of California," not "capitol." Good luck in the courtroom. Have no fear -- I'm kind and generous, and I will be sure to send you a care package in Lompoc or Pelican Bay. Hang around naken in Pelican Bay. They'll love you there.
29. PAY
James ,   Milan, Italy   (03.23.12)
Reading some of the people here I cannot stop thinking how freaky the israeli defenders are. It would be much cheaper to reach a peaceful solution than to build more military installations that they KNOW will not protect them eventually. Just to preempt some of your comments, Israel was offered many opportunities for peace but they want everything. Then they ask the terrorists in Chief in Washington to pay for it. Israel made their bed and they should lay in it.
30. #27 John
Rob ,   Orangevale, U.S.A.   (03.23.12)
You're right John, It didn't take much to expose the troll Sarah B. Her last post misspells the word naked. She/he wrote 'naken'. Hers would have shown at least a modicum of intellect. Where did the prisons come from? She/ he is obviously not from New York, as he/she has knowledge of these institutions. Probably has a boyfriend there.Pelican Bay is for the worst offenders in our state. A stupid tort lawyer couldn't send a person to the store, let alone to Pelican Bay. Hang around Gaza witch, they'd love you there, as you would meld with the other imposters called 'Palestinian' Shalom Israel, Rob.
