1. the men in black;a funeral parlor?or the death of decency
yossi   (03.23.12)
The senior officials, the rabbis, the haredim, all frauds perpetrated on us, the govt.; who doesn't give a damn. Fraud is the policy of the land, with countless on the take. ----- Equal to a doctorate degree? disgusting. A parasite degree would not be out of line.
2. It is known that Isreli kids cheat.
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (03.23.12)
I worked in high schools yeshivahs as well as other schools. If I caught a kid cheating, and I had to be 100% sure, I failed him. The kids were forewarned. Instead of thanking me for teaching his kid some morals, I had one father, threaten me for not giving his son another test. This is how it starts. Maybe if teachers had been tough on them when they were kids this would not have happened.
3. Rabbis praise fraud, genocide, etc...
jooo ,   los angeles   (03.23.12)
Just read that torah
4. deja vu in other latitudes
Borislava ,   Sofia, Bulgaria   (03.23.12)
I'm not saying it’s normal, but this scheme isn’t unique - to go to the exam, instead of another. #2 Children are children everywhere - if they can play instead of studying - they do. Personally for me - physical activity is no less important than learning.
5. "Rabbi expected more from them!"
Ben ,   Chutzlaaretz   (03.23.12)
They expected "more" money no doubt! Silly boys.. you paid off the wrong people, though the price for paying the right people is significantly higher than 3-6K Shekels. Not that this phenom is only found at Yeshivot. It is pretty much universal sad to say! People with Honor, Integrity, Honesty?? Sorry, rare these days.
6. rabbi factories
mea   (03.23.12)
It seems the intimacy of learning has evaporated inside the yeshivas. That there are so many students being churned out that rabbis cannot even recognize imposters/ students is a sign that there are simply too many students. End the subsidies and find out how many people stay in the convenient loathing stations called yeshivas. I believe you will find that once the permanent vacation paid for by the sweat of others ends, the neighborhood will thin considerably. Eithet that or the women will be out working two, three jobs while the men "study". It's disgusting that this situation persists.
7. Hillul HaShem! Fake rabbis!
Rabbi Chaim Shapiro ,   Netivot, Israel   (03.23.12)
We must stomp out corruption in religious community!
8. what a shame!!
daniela ,   panama   (03.25.12)
Those guys are supposed to be rabbis that will teach moral and spiritual values in their communities??? That is what they learn in the Torah?? That s why many non observant people, when they see things like that happening believe that religious people are no better than they are and have nothing to teach anybody... that's a shame! and it should be punished in a strongest way.
9. Fraud
Steve ,   Ra'anana   (03.25.12)
Is this the example that the most "religious" set for us? Or is it last week's story about fictitious enrollments in yeshivote. These so called 'religious' but totally non-observant Jews do more to destroy the beauty of Judaism than all of the secular forces they decry. We should look to this segment of the population as beacons of goodness, kindness and integrity. Too often they are the opposite.
10. the beggars are still bagging, stealing.
yossi   (03.25.12)
Being a rabbi is a fraud --- the rest is only govt. sponsorded Beg, beg, and beg some more to an obliging and generous govt. YOUR MONEY
11. Surprise?
Steve ,   Ra'anana   (08.19.12)
Is there anyone reading this story who is really surprised?
