1. These two had probably just completed
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (03.26.12)
military service and just wanted to have some adventure and fun as is normal for young people. Nonetheless, the world is not a secure place for adventurers, less so than in my generation. This situation is very troubling because these two girls are lost to us and because so many young Israelis go globe trotting in an age of terrorism in which Israeli Jews are so often the targets. I hope these two girls will be heard of and that young Israelis will become more aware and more careful.

3. Prayer brings us closer
Rinah   (03.26.12)
I am praying for their safe return. May HASHEM guard them and keep them safe; may you all be aware of His presence in this situation and always. .
4. Hope they are OK?
froike ,   NY NY   (03.26.12)
It never ceases to amaze me how brave, naive, cavalier, some Israeli youth are after their IDF Service. Being in the IDF develops character and is invaluable life experience. However, there is a lot of evil in the world! Places like Mexico and Guatemala, India, etc, are not the safest of tourist locations. Two young and pretty girls alone among the predators is not a good situation. I hope they are well and pray for their safe return. My advice....Have a nice vacation in the US, Canada, or stay in Israel. Israel has it all! Stay safe and be kind to your parents!
5. Hoping
Birdi ,   Israel   (03.26.12)
& praying these 2 girls will be found to be safe & well asap.
6. I am neverendingly stunned by the...
Gideon Reader   (03.26.12)
...rank stupidity of young (and even otherwise adult) Israelis, who think that they can drift throughout the world with their backpacks on their back and their Israeli passports as if it were safe to do so. I know. IKnow. They are tough. They served in the army. Nut that does not make them in-freaking-ing invincibile. Their parents have a certain responsibility as does the Israel counterterrorism bureau. Central America is a BAD place where more murders take place than Iraq or one of the other Butt-hole-i-stans. Central America is home to lots and LOTS of Hezzbollah operative and Islamic sympathizers. The press/media also has a duty to inform and advise of the dangers and not just soak up the tragedies for story fodder. For Crissakes, GROW UP!
7. I Hope they are OK
Joe Sombrero ,   USA   (03.26.12)
Mexico in some areas is more dangerous than Afghanistan over 50,000 killed in the Cartel war over the last few years. I will pray for those kids. You said three Israelis were with them where are they and are we sure they were Israel?
8. Please tell your young people
babawawa ,   new york, usa   (03.27.12)
Central and south america are not safe places to go. Drugs, terror, murder. It's all there. The US state depart has an advisory against traveling to Mexico for sure. Praying this is all a misunderstanding.
9. GROW UP!
Geil ,   Dallas USA   (03.27.12)
Gideon, I can see where you are coming from. However we Israelis/Jews are FREE! It is not stupidity, it is not letting evil prevail! Millions upon millions of Israelis and Jews have traveled the world forever, we experience life, and no evil will prevent that. Even in the face of danger, we will live life. And yes, we have paid, but even more so, we have lived! On the flip side of that, I believe anybody that can hurt two girls in almost any circumstance, should be killed and rot in hell. (; May G-D keep them safe. And if anybody is harming them, may they and their loved ones rot in hell for eternity. Amen!
10. safe
geil ,   usa   (03.27.12)
they are safe. they did not have a phone on them. thank g-d theya re safe
11. Home safe
Bat ,   Toronto   (03.27.12)
As per lian's Facebook profile, they are fine and it was all a misunderstanding, with last minute changes in their scheduled bus ride. They should still be safe for the rest of their trip, but at least good news.
12. That part of Mexico is not very safe right now
Gad Abadi ,   Mexico City, Mexico   (03.27.12)
That part of Mexico has been known lately to be somewhat dangerous to travel by bus, robberings and kidnappings have happened, some drug cartels kidnap buses to make the people work for them. May all this be not their case and may Hashem bring them back safely very soon.
13. Jews should only travel to the US or to Israel
k ,   US   (03.27.12)
never underestimate the anti-semites in the world who are willing to harm Jews
14. Mexicanos ayudando a israelies!
Fe MacDonald ,   Mexico   (03.27.12)
I am Mexican and I am from Palenque, Chiapas... I am too sorry about this. But I would like to help you. I am in Europe right now but I am going Mexico soon anyway I have friends and relatives on that area, if you tell me how I would like to help you I could ask my family there. I love Israel soo much and I hope H'Shem keep these girls safely... G-d always has angels around the world to help His people!
15. Woman Found - Safe without problem
Tom ,   Xela, Guatemala   (03.27.12)
We received an INGUAT travel bulletin this morning saying the 2 women were found safe and sound. They had changed their plans and travel to the Peten area of Guatemala instead of Lake Atitlan. There were never in trouble or danger just a miscommunication. Tom http://xelapages.com
16. Don't demonize unnecessarily
Gringa ,   Guatemala   (03.28.12)
My husband and I live and work in Guatemala, near the border of Honduras and El Salvador. I've been traveling through Central America (with my backpack) for 2 years now. What happened is absolutely tragic and I pray they are found safely and soon. But this could have happened anywhere. Yes, our region has a disturbingly high crime rate, but they are beautiful countries with wonderful people. Some, however, are desperate, as are people are in every country. All I'm saying is lets focus less on the region, and focus more on finding them.
17. Like we dont have enough to worry about
Al   (12.02.12)
Here we have two dimwits who ought to know better going to SA looking for adventure. You would think that after having been in the army they would have learned self dicipline and order. But noooooooooooo, what they learned is to be selfish stupid and arrogant. God only know what their parents are going through.
