I find it so ironic that Israel is always being held on a rein by the USA, because the idea is that the USA will always protect Israel. But when it comes to Iran, Israel must wait until the US elections are over later this year before they can act. But by then, it may be too late. By then Iran may have the A-Bomb. It seems to me that if Israel acted now to defend itself, it may end up protecting the Americans later on, because American time wasting will threaten American security plus Israeli security. Perhaps now Israel is the more mature and intelligent country, and in defending itself as it should, it will come to be seen as the saviour of Western security years later. America is powerful for sure, but i trust Israeli brains more. Israel must do what is right for Israel. Don't wait for anybody else, and don't trust anybody else. Betrayal implies that there was some amount of trust between two parties. The USA does not trust Israel anymore than it does Iran, therefore there was no betrayal. The President is doing what he was put in office to do: make a final and complete break with Israel. Previous US Administration moves were subtle - condemnations of various Israeli actions - starting with George H. Bush. The destabilization of Iraq (under the ruse of "WMD's") created another radical Islamic state in order to put more pressure on Israel to change its policies. I suppose the rationale behind the strategy was that it is far easier to pressure one state (Israel) as opposed to many (the Arab nations). I imagine the next step will be sanctions against Israel if the strike is accomplished (as it must be accomplished).

And so what is the world going to look like if Iran becomes a nuclear power? Do you really want a nuclear armed Iran controlling the Straits of Hormuz? If you think the price of oil is high now, just wait until Iran starts to disrupt oil supplies from the Gulf. Also, Israel is not a sh*tty little country. Very well said, Rob. It's especially true that Israel is losing both the "friend war" and the "enemy war." Iran doesn't need to develop nuclear weapons in order to harm Israel. All Iran has to do is drive a wedge between Israel and its last remaining ally on the planet. Perhaps Iran has been playing Israel all along with this intention in mind. Some on Ynet think Israel can go it alone in the world (and possibly be better off for it.) They might get their wish. I'm not sure how Israel will fare without the US, especially without US protection in the UNSC. Much of the world is itching to sanction and punish Israel and only the US veto at the UNSC stands in their way.
