The officer in charge of this unit must be punished....soldiers do not become worriers with this....but with respect and honor to be soo.

Initially I was upset reading the report. Then I watched the video. I looked at the blindfolded soldier and imagined he was Gilad Shalit. The life of an IDF soldier is not one of peace and tranquility. At any time like Shalit they can be kidnapped and treated much more harshly than seen on the video.

This video hardly captured my attention. I couldn't walk for two days after my 'goodbye' from my unit. While getting hit with rods is certainly extreme, the soldier's peers are just giving him a toughening up that the IDF is no longer allowed to give thanks to all the mothers and women that have taken over the military.

This is a total joke, not abuse!!! How stupid and 'politically correct' can people get!? Hazing for a fraternity in High School makes this look like a bunch of little girls. Try taking a baseball bat to the butt from huge guys who take a running start...20-30 times. They hit everyone in the upper back and arms, NOT near vital organs. This wasn't abuse; it was a silly ritual that soldiers do. In the US Navy when you get your crow; every other sailor that has a crow is allowed to belt you on the same arm repeatedly throughout the entire day. Thats a tradition a few hundred years old! Your whole are is completely black and blue for a week and half afterwards. I think everyone overreacted like a bunch of babies. NO ABUSE HERE: JUST HAZING. ITS THE ARMY FOR G-D'S SAKE!!!

This is just a show on stage. Even the beating is not real. Why are Israeli soldiers filming rheir own "THING" and "GIGS" beats me. They film their dancing, their beating, their training....what else? Perhaps it is supposed to be funny...that's all.

After watching the video I must say that the only violence seen is that of guys having a bit of hazing nonsense.Certainly no one was hurt in anyway.Go and watch a good rugby game in the army-then you will see a few bruises .I speak from experience.
