1. bibi should have been evicted from the
jason white ,   afula, israel   (04.05.12)
P.M.O. And ehud buraq should be evicted from Israeli politics and sent into permanent retirement. We have dangerous politicians sitting in the knesset or as president of Israel. We will suffer from these politicians who think they are more intelligent than the rest of us. But quite the opposite is true!
2. Well Stated . . . Until Last 3 Paragraphs
emanon ,   USA   (04.05.12)
I realize this is an opinion piece, but had the author stuck to the provable facts, the article would have been more compelling. I fail to see any connection between the events in cities of the same name in Texas and Israel. A better conclusion would have been the restating of what has happened to Gush Katif since Israel forcibly removed the Israeli residents from their homes, razed the buildings and turned the land over to the terrorstinians. Nothing good has come from that and nothing good will come from repeating this mistake in Hebron. That will be provable over time.
3. Same ole...
Max ,   New York   (04.05.12)
David, when are you going to start saying something new, instead of repeating the same rhetoric always...move forward. We get it, many agree, but this is not going anywhere.
4. good article. barak is a useless politician
hippocrates ,   earth   (04.05.12)
bibi loves him though. also the last paragraph of the article was not needed; don't mingle facts on the ground with superstition
5. It is a SHAME, that this eviction ever took
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (04.05.12)
place ! WHAT HAS BECOME TO THE ZIONIST DREAM ?
6. David, I like your analogy...
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (04.05.12)
7. This despicable incident highlights Likud's grave mistake.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.05.12)
Ha'ivri makes many good points. While it is not surprising that our genocidal enemies seek to drive us from every home in Israel, it is despicable that a Likud P.M. takes orders from them. Essentially, Bibi appears to accept large parts of our enemies' hateful narrative. By doing so, Bibi betrays everything Likud stands for and everything an overwhelming majority of Israelis vote for. This despicable incident highlights what a grave mistake Likud made when it reelected Bibi as it's leader.
8. cannot go against the God of Abraham
Lance Le Roux ,   cape town RSA   (04.05.12)
just want to say ,whoever blesses the seed of Abraham will be blessed, who ever curses the seed of Abraham will be cursed! So, whoever and whatever country that wants to deny Israelis their right to obtain land which the God of Abraham gave them, are in for a bumpy ride!! Interesting about the tornados, isn't it?
9. David Haivri is a hypocrite
Avraham ,   Galut   (04.05.12)
This guy openly tries to endanger fellow Jews and he sucks up to Christian missionaries. Hypocrites like Haivri are part of the problem, and why the entire world hates settlers.
10. More Lies
Joe Sombrero ,   USA   (04.05.12)
It looks like according to Israel national news bulldozers and tractors are being located near the settlement of Migron. At what point does the Israeli people start to resist the destruction of these Legal Settlements. More lies and deception. I would not be surprised if the Goverment struck on Passover.
11. You are asking why?
Susya Bar Dror ,   Israel   (04.05.12)
There is only one single reason: Jews are news.
12. Hebron Machpela Hose eviction
Iletzter ,   TA- Israel   (04.05.12)
I was not able to go through the whole article. However , your points regarding the patriarchs of the Jewish nation , unfortunately have relevance in this case. we have a Pm and especially a defense minister who is pursuing his personal agenda - and using the Army for this purpose. Barak has no idea or care who some patriarchs from 300 years ago were. He doesn't give a hoot about his own parents or grandparents - why should he think about 50 generations ago. as far as he concerned , he would do what ever he can if it helps his persoanl interest. I doubt if he ever entered a synagogue - for parying. He believes in money-power-his prestige and status. Nothing else matters. PM is also worried about one thing- longevity in the PM's seat. With people like this at the helm- all your arguments are in vain.
13. Bibi is most uilty; he could have stopped this evil crime...
Efi ,   Israel   (04.05.12)
he didn't. He could HAVE immediately fire Barack; he hasn't. Bibi is the BIGGEST DIRTY RAT.
14. Settlers acted without permission
Harmen ,   Leiden, Netherlands   (04.05.12)
The article is onesided. The Israeli Ministry of Defense states that the settlers did not have the necessary permits. Hebron is an inflammable city. The small Jewish community there has to be protected by the military. No wonder that the military wants to control any migration of Jewish settlers into the area. After all, the army has to protect them, which is very dangerous and something that any good military officer would want to manage carefully. It seems like the settlers were trying to force the Israeli government to accept what they wanted, without consideration of the dangers this could pose to Israeli soldiers. The author of the column should at least discuss this point of view. Stating that this is a "normal" transaction is a rhetorical tric. It is not a normal transaction, but a very sensitive and perhaps dangerous initiative by the settlers.
15. Will Barak pay the owners cash for the house?
Netanya ,   Netanya   (04.05.12)
Only seems fair, otherwise the owners paid for a house they are not able to take possession of, due to Barak.
16. answer to #2
Leah Goldsmith ,   Itamar Israel   (04.05.12)
to #2- Katrina was the direct result of the evacuation of Gush Katif. The ripple effect of what happens here in Israel indeed affects the entire world. The tomb of Yosef was decimated by Muslims and almost a year later to the day the twin towers came falling down- at the hands of Muslims. Both the holy site in Shechem and the towers represent Middat HaYesod, world finance. The world is but a narrow bridge held together and connected to the lifeline, believe me.When the world understands this- when Israel's vital places become appreciated will there only be peace on earth.
17. 4 Holy Cities
eli ,   boston   (04.05.12)
David, there is a glaring error with the facts in your article...as far as I'm aware, there are 4 holy cities in Israel...what about Tiveria? What gives?

deborah lurya ,   irvine CA   (04.05.12)

David ,   USA   (04.05.12)
William Koenig has an entire book written of which I have a copy, which documents hundreds of occurrences where the US sticks its nose into Israel's business resulting is natural disasters within hours afterwards or at the same time. If it were only once or twice then I would say it is a coincidence, however, it has been hundreds of times. Leah at #16 named one such occurrence. You can go on line to "Whitehouse and World News and order a copy. It will enlighten you.
20. #14 Harmen or Hamen?
David ,   USA   (04.05.12)
Just what is your name and why is this some of your business?

22. Hebron for JEWS on Pesach
deborah lurya ,   irvine, ca   (04.05.12)
Jews are entitled to their human rights, and are entitled to live where they so desire and not be expelled from their homes just because they are Jews. Ethnic cleansing is a crime against humanity. You don't see anyone throwing Arabs out of their homes or villages in Israel for simply being Arab. What happened in Chevron yesterday right before the Jewish holiday that commemorates our freedom from bondage and our deliverance to freedom was not a coincidence-- it was done deliberately to demonstrate to the Jews and the world who is in charge and that they have no freedom or rights.
23. #9. Jews legally own Judea and Samaria.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.05.12)
#9. In the first place, Jews aren't "settlers" in Judea and Samaria. Judea and Samaria have belonged to Jews for more than 3,500 years. Countless international law authorities have proven Jews legally own Judea and Samaria. In the second place, the world couldn't care less about "Palestinian" poseurs. That includes the vast majority of the Arab world.
24. #16 / #19
emanon ,   USA   (04.05.12)
Understand, I am on the Jewish side of this. What happened in Hebron to the Jews was just plain wrong, despicable, groundless and inhumane, as was Gush Katif. As for the Internet as a source of information . . . if I were to buy into everything I read on the Internet, I would be convinced there once was a peaceful flowering country in the middle east that had Jerusalem as its capital, was founded by arabs and was forcibly overtaken by those nasty descendants of the followers of Abraham. That is what the arab world has put up out there and wants the world to believe. I will try to find the book you mentioned, David, read it and decide for myself. For now, at least, I remain a skeptic for what you and Leah are proposing. Up until those final paragraphs, I agree with what the article's author says.

I can't find the website you talk about. Is this the same William Koenig that has a web site in his name?
26. Ha'ivri
Ed Codish ,   Pardessiya   (04.05.12)
Arabs have no right to live wherever they want in Israel. In particular, the Arabs of Hebron are not even allowed to visit Israel without difficult to get passes. That is, the basic concept of this piece is false. Perhaps, after peace, everyone will get to live wherever he wants.
27. David is Right! & PassOver is Real! Israel is 1 Nation!
Shirl Lehoski ,   Dallas, USA   (04.05.12)
David correct & tornadoes started touching down near Joshua & went north! Is not superstition; Psalm 121 explains. Many miss a detail about Exodus, Moses knew that the First of The Spring crop must be Given as Holy & Shabbat required. It is pharaoh NOT allowing that was the final straw. Israel, The People & The Land, are HaShem's , The Apple of HaShem's Eye!
28. emanon
David ,   USA   (04.05.12)
Yes, it is the same William Koenig.

The name 'Harmen' is a Dutch (Frysian) name. Perfectly valid. I don't agree with him. I am Jewish, Dutch, and I am partial to the nonsense that is being spread about Israel in the Western media. From his perspective, his point is solid and deserves honest answering without abuse. Your line: 'what business is this to you' could be easily returned to you, living in the USA as you do. 'The same as yours' would be my equally valid answer, if I were him, apart from the fact that this is an internationale forum and therefore, open to every opinion. People, Hasbara is something that concerns all of us. If a European is criticizing Israel using words as TBers like Split and Edithahn like to contribute: By all means, do your thing. If a Talkbacker is, in your view, misguided, talk to him. Harmen did not respond from an anti-semetic, knee jerk reaction, but he shared his view without abuse, from an honest, perhaps misguided, point of view. If we start villifying people who, at least, were interested enough to visit this site and contribute in a reasoned way, we're losing our ability to convince people who may not agree with us now, but are open to reason.
30. the answer to David's question
Richard ,   Kfar Adumim, Il   (04.06.12)
goes back to "land for peace", which, in the final analysis, equates and makes morally equivalent, Arabs killing Jews with Jews building (or in this case buying) houses in Judea and Samaria. Ever wonder why selling property to a Jew is a capital offense according to the "Palestinians"? Because what they want is "land without peace". "Land for peace" sounded like a good idea after the '67 war, but look where it's gotten us. Time for Israel to wake up, smell the coffee, and put an end to government by Peace Now.
