1. Shalit speaking?
cristian ,   earth   (04.05.12)
Gilad Shalit deserve prison for slipping instead defending the border! How this guy is daring to speak? He should be grateful that his family were militating for him, now, shut the f**k up and mind your own business!
2. Can I sign the petition online ? Please
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (04.05.12)
could you give me the link !
3. The guy is a criminal
Sarah B. Israel/U.S. ,   Jerusalem   (04.05.12)
Sorry, dearest, but the guy is a criminal. He betrayed his country and he has to pay for that. Dont come with shtuyots liket he "did for Israel" or "he is a true zionist". The man has no moral reference. If he misbehaved there, he will do the same here. Enough with criminals here.
4. The guy spied for Pakistan for money!
S. Michael ,   Carversville, PA USA   (04.05.12)
Let him rot and take care of his pal, Bernie Madoff, another embarrassment to the Jews. Jews have problems getting security jobs in the U.S. because of Pollard. He deserved what he got and more.
5. Two Cases
Adam Neira ,   Paris, France   (04.05.12)
Mar Samuel stated in his interpretation of Jeremiah's prophecies that we are commanded to "Seek the welfare of the nation you dwell in !'. i.e. The better the patriot the better the Jew. Jonathon Pollard broke very serious laws in his home nation. Gilad Shalit in service of his country was kidnapped. In matters of jurisprudence, the two cases are entirely different. Jonathon Pollard has probably served enough time however and should be released. If he is released all Israelis must show appreciation to President Obama, his advisors and the various men and women serving in the intelligence services. His release must also be handled quietly. Triumphalism should not be on display.
6. Obama hates Israel
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (04.05.12)
I doubt he'll do the right thing and release Pollard, however, with an election and his need for ego massaging, he might make me wrong, ( I hope )
7. ! Perhaps you should take your own advice and SHUT UP!
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (04.05.12)
You've gone too far, this isn't the inquisition meathead.
8. @ 5 you have a valid point
sheik rattle & roll ,   usa   (04.05.12)
that it must be done quietly, however Israeli's are to arrogant for that. First they must recognize the US as a secular country and our value of a nation is not based on religion. Pollard is an American first that betrayed his country. Just because he is Jewish means nothing to us. We don't care if he is of Italian, German, Chinese, Russian or Martian descent he was born an American and betrayed his American nation. If Israel would show some respect and let us deal with it quietly as friends maybe we would bend a little, however they make the clown a national hero for betraying his country annoying the average American. On top of that they demand diplomatic protection at the UN ( VETO) and military aid like we are indebted to the State of Israel.
9. # 5 Adam Israel DID release over 1,000 jailed pal terrorists
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (04.05.12)
for Shalit, remember? If Shalit asks for Pollard's release, that's his right. Give thanks to Obama, for what? he's held Pollard for the duration of his time in office, in addition, while also 'demanding Israel end all settlement activities'. The only chance Pollard has is that this being an election year and with Obama's falling poll approval numbers by Jews... he might, just in hopes of garnering more Jewish votes. I doubt even this calculated cynicism will work.
10. Don't See Eye To Eye On This One..
ACortez ,   Anaheim, CA, USA   (04.05.12)
I'm a huge supporter of Israel but stop whining about Pollard. He did the crime and should serve the full sentence...Period.
11. Shalit asking release of Pollard
Harold ,   USA   (04.05.12)
Shalit made me laugh. Pollard spying action was to make money and have fun. He made money from Pakistan, The Soviet Union, Israel and others. In other words he was not only a pure Israeli spy.

Harold ,   USA   (04.05.12)
This Israeli or Jewish request is not new. They asked previous US President and all refused. Pollard is an American Jew and the US laws must be applied on all no matter what the reliegion is. By the way President Obama needs no Jewish votes at all.
13. #4, 8 if it was so simple
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (04.05.12)
It would help if you backed up your statements with facts, but you don't because you can't. The fact is that it does matter that he was a Jew, and not Chinese, German, Russian or Pakistan. Pollard got life for transferring information to Israel. Schwartz served no time for working for the Saudis. Chinese spies (the great friend of America): Peter Lee (no jail), Montaperto (3 months) and Meng (2 years) Alavi who spied for Iran got 15 months. Abu Jihad who spied for Al Qaida (in uniform) got 10 years. Sombolay who spied for Iraq got 19 years
14. Pollard solicited Israel and other nations
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.05.12)
He sold classified documents for $$$$. Not exactly a role model.
15. Obviously, # 3 is not the real Sarah B.
Sarah B. Admirer   (04.05.12)
Isn't it amazing how prolific Sarah B's imposter has become in these threads? Hats off to the real Sarah B. To her imposter, I say 'you've got way too much time on your hands, and way too few brain cells'. Bad combination.
16. The more you know -
Solomon2 ,   USA, D.C.   (04.05.12)
It is telling that the more access American Jewish officials have to Pollard's file the more they want him to remain in prison. I noticed this first with the Jews on the prosecution team. President Clinton said the same thing about the Jews at the highest level of his Administration years later Apparently the reason Pollard remains in jail is for something different than what he was prosecuted for. That is how justice sometimes works in America.

Harold ,   USA   (04.05.12)
This spy case is purely American matter and not Israeli. Pollard is a US citizen and he has to be judged according to US laws and not Israeli laws. So please shut up and mind your own business. Pollard cost the US govenment billions of dollars and he has to spend the rest of his life in the big house.
18. #3 Sarah B: This time I agree with you!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (04.05.12)
Gilad was a prisoner captured, let's be honest about it, due a a total breakdown in military discipline for which his commanders should faced, at least, a reprimand! We must not forget that twoi were killed in the incident, one an officer, and other injured. He was held by an inhuman an barbaric organization in defiance of International Law and the Geneva Convention! Jonathan Pollard was a spy who spied on his own country and is being held in prison, after being convicted in court of law in a democratic country and in terms of that county's constitution! Gilad Shalit has no business in getting involved in this and this applies to every Israeli as well. I am sure that if an Israeli was caught spying for the USA and an American soldier, who had been a prisoner of a terror group in Iraq or Afghanistan had asked Israel to release, him the response here would have been "mind your own business"! That is what Gilad and all Israelis should do.
19. Obama and Johnathn Pollard
susie ,   somewhere im the USA   (04.05.12)
Former Hamas captive Gilad Shalit signed a petition urging President Shimon Peres to help free convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard from S prison, Yet learned Thursday. The petition links Pollard's plight to US President Barack Obama's announced intention to award Peres the Presidential Medal of Free Petition to Peres: No medal before Pollard freed! Peres says discussed Pollard pardon with Obama who during his speech at last month's AIPAC conference, Obama said that he chose to bestow Peres with the US' highest civilian honor over to his "embodiment of the values of dignity and freedom." Since then, nearly 30,000 citizens signed a petition urging Peres to use the occasion to proote Pollards
20. TO Sarah B. admirer
Sarah B. U.S.A./Isra ,   Jerusalem   (04.05.12)
Dear, let me frank to you: I really dont need your admiration or your hat manueverability. I dont have to make my comments suits your believes. If you admire me, thanks. If you don't, just get a life or go to a shrink.
21. Israel has a new poster boy
zionist forever   (04.05.12)
We all want Jonathan Pollard released but I really am sick of the Shalit family and the rest of the zero to heros like Daphne Leef. We have Noam Shalit taking advantage of the support he was given when his son was a captive to advance a political career. Both Gilad & Daphne Leef are also acting as poster boys for the left doing the international circuit talking peace and things like this to foreign politicians. I wish all these people would just go back to the very ordinary lives they had before their five minutes of fame. If we are looking to man who is famous because he was taken prisoner and a woman who started a tent city protest as ambassadors then we must be desperate.

Pollard is a traitor.needs to sit in jail and you shalit should remain silent and enjoy your freedom.u r no peace ambassador
23. The truth concerning Jonathan Pollard
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.05.12)
Jonathan Pollard didn't spy for Israel against the USA for some very simple and fundamental reasons: 1) Israel and/or the Mossad gave Pollard no orders to spy on the USA. 2) Jonathan Pollard wasn't spying on the USA - he was fairly and justly trying to obtain a piece of information regarding Israel's foes and enemies (among them Iran and the Arab states) and the USA explicitly promised Israel to hand over this information to Israel. USA however reneged on that promise, and didn't hand over that piece of information to Israel. Pollard, who feared for Israel's security, decided to get hold of those papers and documents - that USA originally intended to hand over to Israel. 3) The piece of information that Pollard had "stolen" from the USA wasn't about America at all. The piece of information was about Israel's foes and enemies - Iran and the Arab states. How giving an ally valuable information about it's arch enemies could harm the national security of the USA is beyond me, because the "stolen" information didn't concern America or American national security or classified American military information at all. The information had nothing to do with America. What is even more strange is that MANY PEOPLE - Americans included, have spied on America in the past with the explicit intention to steal top secret information CONCERNING America's national security FROM America, on the direct orders of hostile regimes - among them the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Despite the fact that these spies spied on America for a foreign HOSTILE regime and gained information that could potentially endanger American lives, those spies received much less severe penalties. And they have all one thing in common: they are gentiles. I suspect that the extra harsh treatment of Pollard has less to do with him posing a "threat" to America's national security and has more to do with the fact that he is a Jew. Pollard should be released at once. There is no moral reason to keep him in prison.

Why do you keep insisting Israel "demands" it. It was the US who began aid to Israel, and it was a US idea, because Israel was seen as being of immense value in containing the Soviets. Usually, its the US acting on its own initiative. Now Israel may have asked for this or that at one point or the other, but I never heard of demands. Secondly, I want to know how you would feel if Israel gave life sentences to those Israelis who got caught spying for the US, like Yosef Amit and Andrzej Kielczynski.
