1. It is evident that ynet talkback is merely....
Robert ,   Australia   (04.09.12)
....a vehicle for those on the far right to express their radical views and to foment war. Grass is proven correct.
2. Sanctions failed !
Mark Smith   (04.09.12)
Obama's much trumpeted sanctions against Iran have failed miserably ! Countries like India, Pakistan are all actively helping Iran easily bypass the half-hearted sanctions efforts. Successful use of barter system, routing payment thru tax-havens, smuggling oil & goods across border etc....all effectively nullifying the weak sanctions attempts. Obama is a liar & wimp, only interested in his re-election. Only fools believe him. Sanctions EPIC FAIL !
3. Waiting for Godot
Ahmed Khalid ,   Tehran   (04.09.12)
Waiting for Obama's "sanctions" is like waiting for Godot ! You have to ask Obama whats the use of "10% sanctions with waivers" ? Iran is mostly self-sufficient in food items, few imported items like cars, gadgets etc are affected. Also has over $100 billion in cash reserves in tax-havens & gold bullion, which is enough for few years. A total naval & land blockade may have been more effective, but not such eye-wash sanctions. And since many countries are co-operating with Iran in thwarting the sanctions, they are clearly not effective. ha ha ha ha !
4. Israel doesn't listen to demands so why..

would Iran?
5. I wonder if Iran realizes ...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.09.12)
... that it has signed its death warrant. Given the number of innocent individuals executed by the cruel and tyrannical Iranian regime, there is some poetic justice in that. Iran -- as presently constituted -- will not be missed. A nation led by madmen.
6. In essense Ahmadinejad is correct. Obama needs to back down
Miron ,   USA   (04.09.12)
and apply sanity check to keeping 3 aircraft carriers where 1 should not be. With all attendant results. Israel has a dominant role in ME and America needs to re - adjust its policies, or there will be no allies left at all.
7. "Satisfied" means Shach Mat - Check Mate
Israeli 2   (04.09.12)
The Israeli attack on Iran is imminent. Now Iran must pay for what they have cooked. Just like how Israel slapped them with the computer viri and slapped them with some executions, so too when we attack and invade iran they will be quite with their hands begging for surrender. I know Israel. I have been right every single time.
8. Iran's positions regarding its legal and open nuclear...

program have been public knowledge for a years. It's Israel's "ambiguous" nukes that are must be eradicated. I welcome Israel's "special forces" assault on Iran's facilities. The trees there need fertilizer.
9. for what it's worth
Gabriel ,   Leien, Netherlands   (04.09.12)
I am sure that Israel can do much more than commiting four additional Islamist souls to 'martyrdom'. It is high time that the West, meaning the US, Israel, and the few remaining European states who haven't yet lost their minds or caved in to militant Islamic pressure, to make a point. I think a mushroom cloud over Tehran will make a most poignant point. I am not going to say I will rejoice in this feat, because the Persian culture is a culture I'd like to see preserved for humanity, yet my desire to see my own (innocent) people living to experience another day overrides this sentiment. I truly am sorry if this offsets some of the Talkbackers around here. I live in the Netherlands now, I have experienced bombings living in Israel in my youth. My mother was afraid to let me ride the bus. To play the moral card condemning Israel is very easy if you haven't ever experienced indiscriminate bombings and the sense of insecurity that only the prospect of possibly being blown to smithereens while eating a Pizza can give you, at age ten. Ask the Schijveschuurder family about this lamentable aspect of Israeli life, which only exists because successive Israeli governments fail to provide their citizens with the protection that is their due. The world's opprobrium is something that Israeli's should learn to ignore.
10. "As far as Israel is concerned, the Iranian response is good
Mark   (04.09.12)
I believe that similar statements about "being good for Israel" have been said about the Holocaust and 9/11. How is understanding that a nuclear armed Iran being possible (although not likely to ever occur, without a prod by Israel) is certain and not a possibility. Why is actually MAKING friends, rather than BUYING them so hard for Israel. Iran has oil, and doesn't need (lent) US dollars. They don't have a price, and don't need to "deal." It's time to realize this.

12. Re: 'substantial difficulties'
TaylorT ,   Earth   (04.09.12)
Of course Israel would have problems attacking Iran. That's the reason they're trying to get the US to do it for them. And if it weren't for the hyper ego of Israeli leaders, they may actually succeed in this. But, fortunately, they're their own worse enemies: they desperately need help, but want to pretend they don't. A fine example of the dissociative nature of the Israeli government (as well as being something else to laugh at them for.) They're like children who tell adults they're able to do something themselves when clearly they aren't.

Since yours is the first talkback posted, how would you know what anyone else might comment on this thread? Are you prescient? Privy to divine secrets? No. Silly me. You're just a common, garden-variety asshole of the first water.
15. Surrender Dorothy
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (04.09.12)
The effectiveness of any Israeli attack would be defined by its underlying purpose. If it is to destroy an enrichment facility, that is one purpose. If it is to create a casus belli for the US, that is a horse of a different color. The article hints that Israel will allow talks to go beyond May 15. Have to wonder what conditions will be attached to that.
16. Dont worry, just attack
Victor Max   (04.09.12)
Don't worry, just attack ! The USA will be dragged in to protect their precious oil reserves, which they are far more interested in, than any Jewish lives.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.09.12)
First of all, Israel's business is to see to the safety and security of the State of Israel. Iran is likely to respond to a pre-emptive Israeli strike by attacking a U.S. asset. But that's the U.S.'s problem, isn't it? Do you remember when Israel tried to dissuage the United States from attacking Iraq in 1991? Israel knew that any Iraqi response would necessarily be against Israel and, sure enough, SCUDs did fall on Israel. The United States told Israel to suck it up. Well, Israel now returns the favor. Suck it up. We will do what is best for the State of Israel, and let the chips fall where they may. What goes around, comes around. How do you like it? Any conditions attached to that?
20. #12 half correct
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (04.09.12)
You are correct that the pro-Fatah dynamic duo Barak and Netanyahu are failures that caused Israel damage that Zionist leaders would not. But you tell only half the story. It is a critical American and Saudi interest to attack Iran, more than for Israel. The racist Obama was so preoccupied with destroying Israel and replacing it with a new Arab state that he ignored American interests. He could have taken care of Iran peacefully two-three years ago, but chose not to. After his miserable failure in replacing Assad, Obama won't do anything until US elections because he is afraid a war will cost him the re-election. Obama is gambling with critical US interests in his efforts to maintain his grip on power. After the elections, the US can easily defeat Iran unless the Iran gets nukes by then. If they have nukes, things will be bad. Thank you Obama

Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (04.09.12)
Thank you for clarifying the Israeli government attitude towards American lives. We have a different President now. maybe this next war will be paid for by an income tax surcharge, with exemptions for the currently serving. That "go shopping" method of war effort didn't work so well on the last two wars.
23. er, ah, "Barry, about that 'demand' business'
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (04.09.12)
one thing both Israel and Iran can agree on, "demands' from obama go unheeded. In fact, both thumb their noses at our soon to be one term Prez. Gosh, seems the novelty of 'hope and change' is changing into reality, our greatest American necessity is, a new President. I'm changing for hope, voting for, ROMNEY!
24. # 9 Gabriel Netherlands
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (04.09.12)
Thank you for your insightful post. You are a child of Israel and you know first hand what life was and is living in Israel. I don't know your politicians so I can't comment however, your mother has ( and father ?) done her job well, keeping you alive. While being born a Jew can be hazardous to your health ( some idiot aims at you strictly for that reason,) remaining alive is the goal. The opposite are nations filled with hateful other non Jews who seem to worship death, their own as well as others. "for what it's worth", life is worth the struggle, so many others were not given that opportunity. Shalom.

30. Ahmadinejad' plagiarizm.
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (04.09.12)
I am informed, that some distant relatives of Adolf Hitler still live in the US. If I were in their place, I should sued Ahmadinejad for copiing. Just like der führer he also insisting for total military efforts, liyng he want peace only. He has plans to rule first the muslim word, later more. He is unsatisfied with the world's economic and financial system and wants to change it.Exactly how Hitler. And finally, of course both sick man hate the jews and want to eliminate them.
