Pollard was a spy ,he gave away his countrys' secrets .He got caught and was punished. He deserved to be punished.I have no problem with him being punished. .Clearly ,the United States decided to make an examply of him ,probably to deter future israeli espionage against the US. What is caustic about this however and does not sit well ,is that the punishment was not in proportion ,especially when compared to other spies.That is where some folk have a problem . He deserved to be punished ,no question ,but he is now sick and compassion would refelect well on all parties involved. I do not condone what he did ,but espionage probably occurs all the time if one is realistic about things.

Yes "a spy is a spy is a spy" and by that statement you should then agree they should all be treated the same...except in the case of Pollard who was sharing secrets with an "Ally" (or so Israel thought) to protect Israel from its enemies. Israel can come clean with who Pollard operated with. who were Pollards handlers and who in the then Israeli government knew about Pollard. Israel comes clean Pollard walks tomorrow

After Pollard was arrested the Israeli govdernment lied to the US about who knew about Pollard and at what level in the government and also what information Pollard gave Israel. It's these lies that are going to insure Pollard dies in prison. Blame it on Israel's government not on the US justice system.
