61. #26 Shai - He was defending his country
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.18.12)
against some that lied to immigration in order to get in,who then particpated in demonstrating against the government he had lied to in the first place
62. #28 Keren - Fire him for what?
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.18.12)
defending his country against someone that lied to Immigration about the purpose of his visit, in order to sneak under false pretenses? The creature that he hit was guilty on two counts 1) Lying to Immigration about the purpose of his visit 2) Refusing to obey a direct order to disperse
63. #48 Barbara
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.18.12)
While you were watching the video, by any chance did you hear Eisner's telling him to disperse Which resulted in him refusing a direct order to do so The coin has two sides, look at both
64.  36 YOU ARE WRONG
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (04.18.12)
Punishing Eisner is wrong and you are wrong... Stop talking about traps and crap... The dane was intimidating and he got exactly what he deserved and maybe even expected..Eisner's action put an end to the whole march..In any other country, an officer would be praised for that.. It is time Israel shows the world, we will no longer tolerate hostile demonstrations and lies about us and our democracy. They want to demonstrate ? Let them do it in Gaza or palestinian territories...It is time for us to grow some "spine" and "teeth"...When we begin respecting ourselves, others will respect us too, Maurice...Enough with the gheto mentality...
65. The Eisner Incident
NS ,   Long Island, NY, USA   (04.18.12)
This will forever be known as the Eisner Incident for the damage that Lt.Col. Eisner did to the repudation of Israel. An officer must never lose his cool no matter what the provocation. If he does then he puts the lives of his men and women in danger. People have yet to answer the question; if Eisner couldn't handle a situation involving Eurotrash punks then what makes him think he could handle a promotion to Balad 1-the Officers Training School? Gantz's decision was a wise one in order to close the incident.
66. we all are Eisner
miriam ,   israel   (04.18.12)
67. To No 46, the disgusted european
New Yorker ,   U.S.A.   (04.18.12)
"and this creature who hits women and youths..." No twisting logic here. Eisner had not just hit any random women and youth hanging out on a street corner. Those hit were foreign provocateurs. They did not come with peaceful intentions but were there to advance Israel's enemies' destructive agenda. You are on their side - so you know. Eisner's dismissal can only be explained away by political expediency. This thing is not new. And Israeli top brass is not alone in carrying out such shameful act. There was actually a good movie about British exploits in South Africa ar the turn of 20th Century, during the Boer war, called Breaker Morant, which was based on the true events. Something similar, although in a milder fowm, has just happened in Israel. Those foreign "activists" should have been treated harshly.
68. #36 - Jennie
Maurice ,   Montreal   (04.18.12)
The world does not work the way you wish. You can not isolate Israel into a iron impenetrable box and ignore the rest of the world. If you really think you can do that you are very naive.
69. Gantz and Eiser
joel ,   usa   (04.18.12)
Gantz wanted to please the UN, he maybe planning a diplomatic post in the UN, tsk, tsk, tsk; these protesters ahs no legitimate business in israel, they wanted to create a "syria situation" in israel and Gantz is just so ignorant!
70. Gantz: Shame on you!!!
Taz Man ,   USA   (04.18.12)
Gantz is a sorry excuse for a military officer; he couldn't carry Eisner's jock-strap. I wouldn't serve under cowards like Gantz...under officers' who don't take care of their own. This truly weakens the moral of the IDF; Gantz has truly screwed-up! This is going to have a lasting impact (negatively)! God bless Lt. Col. Eisner; and, may the Lord judge Gantz and the Israeli leaders' for the cowards they are! God bless, Israel and His Jerusalem! A Christian Zionist
71. Government of Clowns
AlexB ,   Berlin,Germany   (04.18.12)
Don't make aliyah and dont´t expose your child to severe danger and risk ( IDF )for a Goverment of Clowns that don´t care about you , about your kids and the scurity of an jewish Israel. If this government isn't able to protect you from antisemites better stay put. If they can´t protect you from european antisemites they can´t protect you from Iran. I'm so sad. Realizing that we probably won't be able to maintain Israel alive , due to this government of clowns.
72. #64: Intimidation! Look at the video or are you blind!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (04.18.12)
With what was he intimidating a Lt. Colonel with an M16 - his blond hair? Yes, the whole idea was to provoke and and damage Israel by these left wing haters of Israel and Jews but his behavior was an insult to the IDF and Israel! He, as every soldier and citizen of Israel knows that the Palestinian propaganda machine will do every to vilify Israel and he co-operated with them by loosing his temper! Senior Officers in ANY army don't loose the cool in a demonstration. What would he do under battle conditions? He has disgraced his uniform. I am sure that if a French Soldier hit a Jew in this way all of you would be screaming from the rooftops for criminal prosecution.
73. Together with #18 I also salute Lt Col Eisner
meghan ,   israel   (04.18.12)
and if you are the real Sean Bean, your one of my favs...watching Missing!!! and sorry you are not in GOT this season. I do fear for Israel when they so easily get rid of a soldier than has done so much, but we say a door closes another opens and I hope his door will lead him up a good path. The IDF isnt what it used to be, and this sort inccident will make many a career soldier wonder about changing jobs. We may just loose the creme de la creme.
74. Lt.Gral. Eisner, thank you for defending Israel!
Emperor ,   USA/Israel   (04.18.12)
I am appalled at the decision of the IDF and Barak. Eisner should be praised, not castigated by the media and his superiors. He defended Israel against the scum that are allowed to enter and protest freely; he was attacked before the so called "incident". The media is gloating because they think this is good Hasbará; tout-au-contraire! It is high time that we stop genuflecting to international and local media. Lt. Gral. Eisner: TODÁ RABBÁ for being a brave soldier and defending our people.
75. Who let the meshige Sarah B. out again?
David   (04.18.12)
76. Next Israeli war
Pedro ,   Brazil   (04.18.12)
Next Israeli war you will send the Danish protestor to fight for your israeli children ?
77. To: No. 33
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.18.12)
Actually, I spent five years in a Zahal uniform, and mustered out with the rank of Rav Seren. Where and when did you serve, or were you too busy hitting all the dive bars on Yonge Street while I served the Jewish State? I've been to Brooklyn once, I think, in my entire life. Perhaps twice. When in New York, except for traveling out to our vacation home in the Hamptons, I rarely venture outside of Manhattan. Why would I? I have everything I need right there. I wish your nieces and nephews well. With an uncle like you, they will need all the good wishes possible. Yes, I have a great deal personally at risk. That's why I've grown as conservative as I have. Kindness hasn't worked; generosity and tolerance hasn't worked. Perhaps it's time to give up the carrot and go with the stick. Ever consider that?
78. #33, right on the money!
mea   (04.18.12)
79. Blood thirsty armchair generals
mea   (04.18.12)
unable to reverse the circumstances and grasp how awful this incident was for Israel. What is strange is that most of you are pathetic evangelical wannabe Jewish xtians posting on boards.
80. Now let's see if the reaction is the same
Zev ,   Israel   (04.18.12)
when the violence is against right wing protesters. Somehow I doubt it.
81. damage was done
observer ,   Egypt   (04.18.12)
can Gantz dismiss sympathizers as well?
82. ANGER!!!
Israelimadashell ,   Israel   (04.18.12)
So, the guy got angry at neo-nazi protesters!!! so not normal! But was it also ANGER for our leaders to throw babies/children/pregnant women, etc. out in the middle of the night at gunpoint into the COLD without mercy from Migron! I think all those involved couldn't control THEIR ANGER EITHER! AND WERE NEVER PUNISHED FOR ACTING LIKE MONSTERS! but instead, the same creatures running our country above are the ones responsible for throwing a hardworking soldier out of his job. these soldiers are VERY TAXED, do grueling work, are under EXTREME PRESSURE and they have to deal with low life monsters like these protesters! so, the first thing our gov't does is go after OUR OWN SOLDERS BECAUSE HE ACTED-really the way he should. There was no consideration for all this poor guy goes through everyday to keep us all safe!!! only the poor poor protester who supports TERRORISM AGAINST JEWS! we just have to support world opinion over the needs of our own people. I'm sick!! i wish that Hashem will bless this Eisner and all the hardworking soldiers whose work is obviously not appreciated and sometimes condemned when it doesn't match political and selfish goals!
83. I would have promoted him!!
MICHAEL ,   CANADA   (04.18.12)
We need officers like him to show we will not take shit from anyone! I commend you!!
84. This explains why
Dave Cannon ,   San Souci Park   (04.18.12)
This explains IDF behavior in the last Lebanon war. You would not allow your Army to commit to war and fight . Israel should turn all its soldiers into social workers . Send them all up to Southern Lebanon with a pen and a legal pad and counsel Hezbollah members. Your Nation is being destroyed by Liberals. In the next war be sure to give flowers to the Golani Brigade so they can give them to Hezbollah members . This soldier did NOTHING wrong. The Israeli government is making the world think Shaul Eisner did something wrong . Find someone in Israel like Vladimir Putin and elect him PM.
85. You are the blind one
#72   (04.18.12)
Wasn't the video doctored? After it made its turns in the media, then they talked about the office's broken hand.. Israelis are so naive, plain childish and not sophisticated at all. Once you fool me, you are the fool, twice I'm the fool, How about daily, Mr. DAvid?
86. Israel security personnel beat Jewish residents
Pinchas ,   Israel   (04.18.12)
Bottom Line: Israel security personnel beat Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria with clubs during protests, but when a foreign anarchist is hit, it is a crime and the entire military leadership condemns it. The law is not applied fairly in Israel.
87. Hashem bless Mr Eisner
Luis ,   Madrid   (04.18.12)
I am sad by this. G'd bless Mr Eisner.
88. C of S Benny Gantz
ltrail ,   United States   (04.18.12)
Played right into the hands of the professional protesters. Former IDF Chief Rabbi Avichai Rontzki commented on Gantz' decision to relieve Lt. Col. Eisner from duty, saying it "sends out a wrong message. I agree with his assessment. The professional protesters got a reward for their acts of so-called non-violence which caused the Lt. Col. to receive two broken fingers. The IDF knows the true account.
89. Comment #2
ltrail ,   United States   (04.18.12)
Yes, the protester got exactly what he deserved.
90. to 72
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (04.18.12)
"What would he do in a battle conditions" ? What do you think soldgers do when defending Israel from enemies ? Throwing candies ? They kill the enemy, no ? Eisner didn't loose the cool. He acted on a provocation and prevented a much bigger problem, that might have happened, David... For once we had 'wiped their noses"..And all is quiet and dandy..So why are You and others are beeting yourselves up for ?
