Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.23.12)
The difference being that it was those other (illegitimate, by the way) offspring of "Father Abraham" that lost all the wars they started. That's geo-political, Markie boy, not religious. You can call me anything you want. I don't take you seriously so, no, it won't hurt in the least.
62. Jew-hatred is in the Quran
meir ,   TA   (04.23.12)
63. The promotion of the 2 state solution is
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (04.23.12)
an antisemitic ploy to destroy the Jewish state...This is the modus operandi of todays Jew haters !
64. #54 me thinks you don't know any history
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (04.23.12)
They claim the exact opposite of what you stated. So who is more likely to represent their think you or them? I think I will go with the Arabs. You are too full of shit to be believed.
65. @35: Yes, Facts Are Facts
emanon ,   USA   (04.23.12)
Facts are facts: Gaza is a launching area for missiles and mortars directed at civilian targets. Facts are facts: arabs are killing civilian Jews at random. Facts are facts: arabs are taught Jews are not human. Facts are facts: Israel was always where it is now. Facts are facts: Jerusalem was never important to the arab world.
66. Istvan,
Walt K ,   Sherbrooke, Canada   (04.23.12)
What are you talking about ? Envious of who ? Here in Canada, there is no problem exept few isolated incidents, and most of people does not care what happens in Israel. They are too busy. So don't feed the fire and don't think that the whole world is like your third world country.

Jonathan ,   MN/US   (04.23.12)
You are aware Sarah that the only reason Israel won The Yom Kippur War was because of some bad tatical choices on the egyptian side right? please do some research on said war before you respond
68. #10 Taylor T
Phil ,   Ireland   (04.23.12)
Yet again you show such blinding ignorance that nobody can really take you seriously. What occupation are you talking about? The one that the West thinks is occupation or the one that the Arabs mean? The Arabs went to war against Israel PRIOR to what the West believes was the "occupation". Your arguments mean nothing. Israel offered to hand Judea and Samaria and Gaza over to the Arabs in exchange for recognition and peace in 1967 but this offer was met with the 3 no's. No recognition, no negotiation, no peace. So your theory won't work will it? You're the one in denial if you can't see that.
69. Start by dealing with Israel bashers on Israel's payroll.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.23.12)
Some of the worst Israel bashers are on Israel's payroll. As professors, politicians, journalists, judges etc., they collect generous salaries while bashing Israel. It's time to end the free ride for these hatemongers, fire them and charge them with treason, if appropriate. As for the E.U., U.N., etc., let's stop pretending they are our friends and accept their "help" in advancing the phony dangerous "peace process".
70. The two state solution has been achieved ...
david singer ,   Sydney   (04.24.12)
... with the admission of Palestine as a member state of UNESCO on 31 October 2011. Not one of the 194 countries involved in that decision has sought to have that decision referred to the International Court for its advisory opinion on whether Palestine is a state or not. Until that happens - the decision stands. Palestinian Arab statelessness has ended. And so should UNWRA, Oslo and the Roadmap.
71. To Mr's Sarah B
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (04.24.12)
Lady, if you are, really, who you say you are, I regret very much your aggressive "talkback" about the mine, and your lack of basic politeness. I feel myself much offended. I am a true friend of Israel, that I endorse since I was a teenager. But I am sure that you don't represent your people. God bless you.
72. #12 ACTUALLY, YOU ARE WRONG
Frank-el ,   Seattle USA   (04.24.12)
Circular "pre-emptive" arguments to the contrary, you are incorrect insofar as Isarel started the Six Day War by initiating major active hostilities resulting in a state of open warfare. The State of Israel itself admits it. There plenty of counter-arguments to debate the "pre-emptive" nature of the attack and we'll never know if the Arabs would have launched a real war since Israel did it. And spare us the childish name calling, etc.
73. Horst , consider this
Dennis ,   NYC, NY   (04.24.12)
If the French were shelling you, you'd ask them to stop. If they didn't, you'd kill them all. Israel gave back Gaza. Look what happened. Arafat waled away from negotiations. The only peace the Arabs are willing to accept is to have Israel disappear. That is simply not acceptable to anyone but a suicidal lunatic. Arabs have no rights in their own lands. It's a concept alien to their existence.
74. Do you really think Israel is gonna be accepted one day?
Prince ,   NY US   (04.24.12)
i don't think there's is something like anti-jew by itself, it's a fruit of anti-israel movement. for how much israel gets supported by world's biggest powers(us,gb,fr.). israel will never get accepted and in a such region, so please stop wasting time ruining world's peace and do something worth admiring for jews
75. #72
Phil ,   Ireland   (04.24.12)
You can spin it all you like but Egypt throwing UNEF out of the Sinai and massing its troops along Israel's border and closing the Straits to Israeli shipping with an announced intent to fight to destroy Israel sounds to me like they were going to go to war. If you say we will never know because Israel didn't give them the chance is kind of missing the point. If we think like that then we can say we will never know if Hitler intended to occupy all of Europe because Britain and the allies didn't give him the chance to do it before going to war.
76. #74 Prince
Phil ,   Ireland   (04.24.12)
"Anti-jew" as you put it existed for as long as there were Jews. You can't use Israel to excuse it. Try reading for yourself instead of listening to Arab propaganda. If you think Israel is ruining world peace, you haven't looked anywhere near close enough to the cause of conflicts in general.
77. No other Ynet columnist can so successfully
Robert Haymond ,   Israel   (04.24.12)
put a material piece together such that one pictures the whole subject with thoroughness, accuracy and incisiveness. These three qualities appear to be Professor Dann's trademark. It is always of value to read his works on Israel within the Mideastern context or the European and North American.
78. nothing new
(04.24.12)
BINGORION DAYAN AND GOLDA those whome shared the state birth knew two things that they wish that the arabs will forgot and israil must kept the power forever
79. #35 short on facts
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (04.24.12)
According to every international law and treaty on the subject the lands in question are ours. It is the Arabs that have no legal claims. We have stolen nothing - everything the Arabs have is stolen.
80. #75 THE SPIN IS YOURS
Frank-el ,   Seattle USA   (04.24.12)
The simple and plain fact is that Israel started the hot war. This is a historical fact. Unlike you I don't have to justify it so it's you who spins like a dradle. And based on your "logic" the US should have started WW3 several times over with the Soviet Union (or vice versa) since there was massing of troops, blockage os access and heaven forbid name-calling! Fortuneately less-bloodthirsty minds prevailed at that time. The killing of 34 US sailors on the USS Liberty amply demonstrates Israel's war-mood at that time...but I guess you'll spin that one as well, eh?
81. #80 Notice the spin?
Phil ,   Ireland   (04.24.12)
By saying Israel started the "hot" war, you have already started to spin. If you can't see Egypt as the instigator of the war, then you must be one of the revisionist types who try to rewrite history to suit their theories. As I said, Churchill never gave Hitler a chance to fire the first shot at Britain. Sometimes nations can't afford to sit and wait while talks go nowhere. Such was the case with Israel in 1967. You expose yourself as the spinner in this case.
82. Racism ???
ltrail ,   USA   (04.25.12)
The first comment of the article is not about race at all. Rather it is about Jew-haters of all races. What are you thinking? Duh.
83. Palestinian BDS National Committee
ltrail ,   USA   (04.25.12)
The Palestinian BDS National Committee, et al, are flat-out anti-Jew. Hatred toward Jews is their entire mission in life. the Divine will of God has already happened: Jews have returned to Eretz Y'srael and will eternally remain in The Land. I urge anyone with sense, to disassociate themselves from the BDS movement.
84. 2 States, 1 Country???
ltrail ,   USA   (04.25.12)
....Is not a good solution. If the size of the State of Israel is divided, as you say, the muslims will just want more, or all, of the rest of the State of Israel. The muslims do not care about their own state. They only want Jews to disappear.
85. The Palestinians...
ltrail ,   USA   (04.25.12)
Were birthed in Syria, Jordan, and Egypt (to name a few nations). They were booted from their lands for attempting to overthrow those governments. They migrated into Eretz Y'srael like a caravan of gypsies. They neither pay taxes nor do they work to improve Israel's Society, when compared to other Arabs who have become Citizens.
86. The Six Day War
ltrail ,   USA   (04.25.12)
Hmmm. Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt (and other arab nations) moved their armies to the borders of the State of Israel before Israel did anything. Your view is flawed very badly regarding who started the War. Your comment is an attempt to alter historical facts; which cannot be changed.
87. 66, Istvankam, even if you try hard to
WE all know what ,   happened in   (04.26.12)
shove your head in the sand, you will some day be overwhelmed by the same problems of hatred, anti-Semitism and ant- whatever simply because people like you do not want and are not ready to deal with such ugly aspects of human behaviour. You as a brave Hungarian should know better. Your country and most of your people excelled in anti-Semitism and crimes against humanity during WWII. But some memories are very short, aren't they? What about the Nyilas just to refresh your taste?!
88. What's Next ?
Eli B ,   Dublin, Ireland   (06.14.12)
Hello, I truly like this site and appreciate the effort being made. Elie Weisel said in a speech to the UN that the definition of Anti-Semitism is when you hold the Jewish people to a higher moral standard then the rest of the world. Jews make peace. Jews make war. Jews eat. Jews starve. Some Jews like to live with everyone. Some Jews want to live with Jews. Some are religious and some are not. Where is the outcry about...where is the UN ??? Executions in China Freedom of Religion in Saudi Treatment of Women in Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan and I could go on.... The bottom line is this. Peace is always better than war. Freedom better than captivity. Love better than hate. So what is next. How do you turn a campaign of hatred to one of reconciliation and understanding? How do you move forward when some countries are taught that Hitler was a hero and Israel is not on any map in their geography class? I am serious. How do WE move forward. Are there more of us who chose to protest for peace and understanding. I chose LIFE over martyrdom and a culture of hate and destruction. Life includes ALL OF US....Bábism, Bahá'í Faith, Christianity, Gnosticism, Islam, Judaism, Rastafari movement, Mandaeans and Sabians, Samaritanism, Ayyavazhi ,Bhakti Movement, Buddhism, Din-i-Ilahi, Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Manichaeism, Mazdakism, Mithraism, Yazdânism, Zoroastrianism, Confucianism, Shinto, Taoism, African diasporic religions, Indigenous traditional religions and many more. People who hate seem to be more united then people who love. When do like minded people get together and say stop. Stop the insanity and move forward. Don't justify hatred with pieces of history that suit your cause! I am ready to move forward. Move ahead to a better world.

clearsighted ,   Boston, MA   (07.27.12)
Sorry, Eli, your choice is of no consequence. You can naively demonstrate for peace all you want and it will accomplish nothing so long as there is one group in this world which does not want to coexist but rather to reign supreme; which believes that their "god" has commanded them to exterminate all of the Jews; which worships death more than life. These aren't "pieces of history that suit [my] cause." They are today and now. It's time take of the mental training wheels, Eli, and come to grips with the reality that we are not in a war over land but rather in the middle of a religious war confronted with an implacable enemy with only one goal: The genocide of the Jews and the subjugation of the rest of the world.
