1. The answer would be to beat these foreign
jason white ,   afula, israel   (04.23.12)
agitators and throw them in prison for years. Also to make sure they do their time in prison and tell their governments to keep out of our internal affairs. We need to build prisons that are not country clubs and to make sure they are places that people will fear going to.
2. Just proves that a 2-nd year student has more brains&grip on
tom ,   tel aviv   (04.23.12)
reality that most of our idiotic "intellectuals" (a la Amos Oz &Co) and not so few politicians (fill in the blanks)! Bravo!!!
3. Now he 'get's it!
tiki ,   belgium   (04.23.12)
What most of us have 'gotten already a long time ago. Israel can stop this ridiculous thing in a minute. Stop being so tolerant to the ones who hate you & those infantile 'activists'.
4. Adventure tourism for Danish pastries. Not many go to Sudan
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (04.23.12)
they slaughter Christians there. It is not PC to notice. Set fire to Coptic Churches and kill Copts ? No problems. Kill Kurds? Who cares? Dead Arabs by the tens of thousands. Not their problem. Its the romance of wearing Arafat the Egyptians keffiyye and then going to a 5 star restaurant, then out for more sloganeering. Then going home to recount their heroic adventures Who is paying for it all?
5. answer: raise the $ cost of protesting
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (04.23.12)
Give soldiers on guard duty riot gear and a paddy wagon to arrest all those rich spoiled protesters who contront the IDF protesters. Then charge with them with administrative fees: cost to arrest them, to provide them with "hotel surcharges" a roof over their head and bars around their faces, until their flight is ready to take them either home. Finally charge them with violations of military rule which should be of significant cost to deter them and others from doing it again.
6. Brilliant and accurate article
trevor ,   modiin, israel   (04.23.12)
So what do we do...become like Sudan, Egypt or Syria...or continue to accept the dollars and pounds of these so called spoiled activists...? A stunning article - please send to every major newspaper
7. Excellent article, plain, honest and simple!
Yuval ,   Haifa, Israel   (04.23.12)
What is happening is so obvious! Armchair liberals preaching morality to Israel when the Arab world is burning all around us. The world has lost its moral compass.
8. couldn't agree more!
ej ,   tlv   (04.23.12)
i've had similar conversations with these "Activists" in Tel Aviv- they scream and yell about our "occupation" but some have never even been to Gaza, and some only visited Ramala, which is actually better off than most arab towns and villages in the Near East and Africa!
9. The obvious
michael Pielet ,   israel   (04.23.12)
Who lets these anarchists, enemies into the country? Who is responsible. When we answer that question we will know how to solve the problem.
10. Heil Hypocrisy! Siiiieg Heil!!!!!
HaifaGuy   (04.23.12)
F***ing triple-charge them for the beer, the hotel room, the plane ticket and the escort services and watch how they suddenly stop coming here.
11. Thank the government
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (04.23.12)
Leave Russia and China aside: a tourist who looks threateningly at an American police officer will be tasered, beaten and jailed before deportation. Anyone who crosses a US marine perimeter after a single warning is shot dead or the marine will be courtmartialed. The "Leftist radicals" are not to blame, they are having a good time with their Jew-baiting. The problem is Netanyahu, Barak and Gantz who love anti-Israeli anarchists and hate IDF officers.
12. you mean they are like Brevijk attention seeking egotists
avrom ,   bet shemesh   (04.23.12)
but in no danger of being locked up for life and not demonised indeed they are glorified by the left wing media
13. This is nonsensical
Sam ,   London, UK   (04.23.12)
So the argument is that because Israel gives human rights to foreigners, it shouldn't have to give human rights to Palestinians? Makes total sense...
14. Give them what they want
Steve from Raleigh   (04.23.12)
Ship them off to Gaza and don't let them leave. Ever.
15. An absolutely EXCELLENT article!!!
William ,   Israel   (04.23.12)
Thank you for sharing your candid conversations with us. So many have accused the Left of exactly what you wrote - of arriving in "Camp Ramallah" to protest and party because they are spoiled brats. The "Palestinians" think they are so beloved of the world and in reality, it's Israel's open society that draws them. Now - with that in mind, it's time to make illegal protests a very, very costly thing. That is - legally, morally, emotionally, and ensure they suffer diplomatically for it.
16. there is a bigger problem here...
jo b ,   israel   (04.23.12)
these foreign activists really are like parasites leaching onto any attention and anti-israel anti semitism they can instigate, but the reason they are allowed to do this is because israel has the leftist cancer growing inside it with large numbers of young brainwashed israeli born and raised radicals that themselves are just as bad if not worse than any of those foreigners... ridding our own society of our own leftists radicals is priority # 1 because when the world sees israelis themselves fighting their own soldiers, of course it justifies the foreigners cause as well.
17. Cowardly Euros
ACortez ,   Anaheim, CA, USA   (04.23.12)
Europe has become a cesspool of cowardly communists/leftists/socialists. Euros have become spoiled as they didn't have to do a thing during the cold war but sit and watch as America provided their security. Europe will soon be at each others throats as communists/leftists/socialists will not accept responsibility when their governments go bankrupt. They will blame each other and I can only hope America sits by and allows them to tear each other apart this time. Jews should leave while they can because they'll be the first to be blamed.
18. Activists?
Naftali   (04.23.12)
To add to what was well said in the article, there is no other conflict area in the world, that these so-called activists go to and place themselves in front of soldiers or policemen. Even in the US, if they confronted State Troopers who are blocking an area, they would be hammered. If you look at the video of the Eisner incident, none of them have any fear, they walk right up to the soldiers and get in their face. There is no where else in the world they could get away with that. This shows as well that their whole "bad Israeli, good Palestinian shtick is a lie.
19. Make cowardly leftist poseurs pay dearly for their evil.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.23.12)
The author is right on target. Cowardly leftists would never confront any real human rights abuser such as China or Iran. However, they always feel comfortable attacking Israel because they know they will never have to pay a price for it. It's time to change that calcuation. We must make it very clear to pampered leftist poseurs that when they work for terrorists; they will be dealt with as terrorists. If they suffer injuries or death, as a result of assisting terrorists, Israel owes no apologies. When leftists impose costs on Israeli security, as a result of their posturing, they should be required to pay all costs and heavy fines also. It's time to end the free ride for cowardly leftist poseurs.
20. Its disconcerting but ISRAEL WILL TRIUMPH!!!
EZRA THE PROUD JEW ,   USA-ISRAEL   (04.23.12)
These foreign radicals shouldn't be allowed into Israel, indeed: they should be barred completely. Any news organization that has ran stories that are completely false and propaganda should be banned from Israel. But the bottom line will remain the same. The Jewish people shall triumph and these lunatics will fade away as they all do. Chai Yisrael.
21. #13 sam
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.23.12)
No, the argument is that everyone in Israel has rights. This includes arabs. Palestinians don't because of Hamas and Fatah who control their own people. It is impacted by Israel due to their desire to kill the Jews.
22. #13 - and by "human rights" to foreigners, you mean...
William ,   Israel   (04.23.12)
the right to violate Visa restrictions as allowed by sovereign nations? Or the right to enter a war zone and be protected by those troops they curse and stone, which is a violation of the human rights of those soldiers who are now put into harm's way by the existence of these foreign instigators? And by "human rights" to "Palestinians", are you referring to the right to commit war crimes and target civilians through terrorism, as has been the case for years? Your ilk cry for the "human rights" of the "Palestinian" who waits 2 hours at a checkpoint, but are silent on the "human rights" of the Israeli civilians who are maimed or killed through suicide bombings, making checkpoints a necessity! Your post is analogous to UK soldiers killing Irish civilians, then decrying the fact that "British people can't walk freely around Dublin without being hassled, thus violating their human rights". Is that about right?
23. #16 - is it about anti-semitism or just plain laziness?
William ,   Israel   (04.23.12)
Are these foreigners just more anti-semitic or just lazier and more spoiled than their past predecessors? I tend to think the latter as we've seen the same lazy protesters demanding the world for themselves through localized Occupy movements around the world. Each protest turned into a hippie party with one goal - "we want want the people who worked hard for it have". They do not cry for "opportunity" but "redistribution". The same here with the Israeli Leftists. Lazy, spoiled brats with a sense of self-entitlement, looking for a cause to join but not to invest in. They want to party, they want to feel like their life has meaning - partly, and they want someone else to pay for it. That's why they support the Pallys (hoping they don't lose the State and their right to part in the process) and run from their obligation to serve in the military or do anything meaning for the public at large. Leftists will tell you - they protest and fight for the good of all Israelis - which is BS just as the Ultra-orthodox will claim - they study Torah for the good of all Israelis.
24. #18 - Works for "Palestinians" too
William ,   Israel   (04.23.12)
"Palestinians" and Leftists claim Israel is a brutal occupation regime and they act worse than any other country in the world. Yet. one image that is available and often ignored is how the youth run after and jump on APCs in Nablus without fear or repercussions. Do the youth do the same in Homs? Hell no! They don't do it either in Lhasa, Chechnya, Kabul, or Pongyang.
25. Impressive article for second year student
Sue ,   Israel   (04.23.12)
Well done!
26. two words...PEPPER SPRAY
Alexis ,   Jerusalem, ISRAEL   (04.23.12)
Yes, these "activists" are know-nothing, spoiled hypocrites at best, or outright Jew-hating racists with mental deficiencies at worst, but more to the point, our army, border patrol, police should *not* verbally or emotionally engage with these pieces of dreck, but instead give them the order to cease and desist, and once they literally or figuratively cross the line: PEPPER SPRAY them! Hoping that these creeps who are actually despicable provocateurs will get it through their thick heads that Israel is not what is wrong with the Middle East, but what is *right*, as Bibi said, is useless. They will only ever understand a good slap in the face, but it doesn't even have to come through physical contact or lots of fancy words: pepper spray them, cuff them, and have them shipped out and never allowed back into Israel! It's time for us to step it up - no more 'Mr. Nice Guy', and absolutely no need to worry that it jeopardizes our democracy or humanity. In fact, to allow them to keep walking all over us like this poses more true threat to our safety and democracy!
27. Reality Check
John ,   Chicago   (04.23.12)
The Arab world is burning? The vast majority of Arab countries are living in the same exact way they have for years, with the exception of few revolutions. The author of this article fails to mention that Greece, Cyprus, and many other countries have very similar situations.
28. Spot on!! Same goes with UN here too!
David ,   Israel   (04.23.12)
The most UN cars I've seen hasn't been on the borders or in the Palestinian territories where I've served - its been outside fancy restaurants and beachfronts in Tel Aviv, Herzliya and Jerusalem !
29. The Author is right....most talkbackers are dead wrong....
GR ,   London   (04.23.12)
The author of this article is dead on target. The vast vast majority of the activists who engage in the Arab-Israeli conflict are ignorant poseurs too scared to where they are really needed - and who work out their own issues through this conflict.... ....however.... All these talkback warriors whos ay the answer is arrest and beat them are dead dead wrong! The fact that Israel tolerates this behavior is a symbol of her strength, not her weakness. Israel is strong enough not to worry about silly gap year kids....there are real enemies to fight! Let them come, let them wave their signs, let them spend money in the local bars and hostels. Engage them, maybe they will learn something..... Saying we should silence people, that we should imprison them, that we should beat them are words of weak, scared people (and pretty ugly emotions). Engage and convince, don't silence. Save your fighting energy for actual enemies - chasing these spoiled kids around isn't tough, it's a silly waste of effort.
30. Israel is the playground for provocateurs & agitators.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (04.23.12)
This now confirms it. The only solution - loosen a few teeth and darken a few eyes. That will solve the problem because basically, they are cowards on a fun trip. Unfortunately however, the politicians are terrified to discipline these pests in a firm manner so they keep returning for more and more fun and games.
