Carl   (04.24.12)
I did my reserve duty for years in Judea and Samaria and events like these were routine.
32. jewish compassion
Iletzter ,   TA- Israel   (04.24.12)
While it is true Jewish compassion is a Jewish quality and natural trait, I hope he doesn't grow up to becaome a terrorist.

Two serious problems with your post. First, in any other country in the world with a war between two ethnic groups, this is NOT the norm. Look at every single modern war. You're remarkably ignorant if you think this is the typical wartime situation. Second, it's not that Israelis are demanding a pat on the back. It's that this story serves as more evidence(which is completely censored and ignored by many national medias) against the hordes of people who claim that Israelis constantly target Palestinian children and endlessly cause as much pain and suffering as possible on them, and that Israeli soldiers are inhuman beasts who have no regard for Palestinian life. People, who like you, have no understanding of the nature of this conflict yet are quick to jump to any assumptions that delegitimize Israel because of your political biases. The only thing absolutely amazing is how blind you are to the mentality of Israelis yet how quickly you can misinterpret their reaction in an arrogant and nasty way.
34. Taylor it should be routine where suicide bombers do not go
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (04.24.12)
to cancer clinics, children are not fitted with suicide belts and women ask not to be scanned because they have a metal plate in their leg then blow up the soldiers as they allow her through. Despite many examples of this behaviour the IDF risked their lives for the enemy. You deserve a pat on the back for bigoted ignorance and prize winning amnesia.
35. no. 8, the truth hurts. Deniers can

google "Palestinian dies after being delayed at IDF checkpoint* Ynet, for the first of "many".
36. To: No. 35
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.24.12)
Do you have any idea how many Americans die each year because an ambulance doesn't arrive in time? Shouldn't you therefore shut up? I'm willing to bet that the same occurs in other countries as well, and those countries do not have the serious security concerns that Israel does. Have you bothered to ask yourself why those ersatz "Palestinians" that may or may not have died at an Israeli checkpoint did not seek medical care in Gaza or in the ersatz "Palestine" Authority? They wanted autonomy; they have it. Why allow them access to free sophisticated medical care in Israel at all? They have their autonomy; let them make the best of it. Does it occur to you just how hypocritical it is to try and straddle both worlds? Israel owes them nothing. Perhaps the ersatz "Palestinians" should spend a little less on terror and a little more on medicine. Splendid idea, don't you think?
37. Lt. Col. doctor?
Jerusalem Joe ,   jerusalem   (04.24.12)
This must be the first batallion in Tsahal where the batallion doctor is the same rank as the batallion commader: Lt. Col. A batallion doctor is usually a Lt/Lieutenant/Segen. A doctor who is a Lt. Col./Lieutenant Colonel/Sgan Aluf is usually a doctor for an entire division.
38. #30 Taylor T
Phil ,   Ireland   (04.24.12)
The reason why this story is so important is because you will never hear it on any other country's news. It's because you and all the other Israel bashers will never acknowledge one good thing that comes out of israel. Absolutely amazing.
39. #38. All the more reason
Tim ,   Brighton   (04.24.12)
For Israelis AND Palestinians to celebrate such positive stories. I would urge the Palestinian Press to give coverage to these stories to show both sides and the rest of the world that Cooperation and Conflict Resolution ARE possible and Violence and Hate ARENT the only games in town
40.  # 30 PALS AND THE FOGEL FAMILY
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (04.24.12)
We have no better examples of these two cases. An entire Jewish family was murdered while Jews save thee enemies sick child. We save them they murder us.

Loved your post, and I thank you for it, but you need to realize that "TaylorT" is somewhat intellectually challenged. Considerably, actually, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I am very kind. Thank you again for you extraordinarily insightful and articulate post.
43. Cred to soldiers, but distorted focus:
AM   (04.24.12)
... the [structural] problem is of course that the IDF [occupation] soldiers are stationed, and block the local [Palestinian] population (and ambulances, etc) from passing through, a check point some 10 kilometres east of the green line. Who should have to ask soldiers for permisson to pass on the way to get medical care, on one's own homeland...?!?
44. 8
zionist forever   (04.24.12)
" There are many, many, many many, many, many stories of Palestinians in desperate need who have dies while waiting at checkpoints for hours " Has it ever occurred to you there might be a reason for these checkpoiints? You could try asking the surviving members of the Fogal family or the relatives of those murdered by suicide bombers or gunmen. Terrorists don't wear military uniforms they are men & women and have even used children in the past so we need checkpoints. " There are also stories of ambulances prevented of reaching the injured " Did you hear the stories about Hamas using UN vehicles and ambulances to transport weapons and terrorists because they are traditionally allowed to bypass the checkpoints. If they misuse the special status given to things like ambulances then that special status will be revoked and innocent people will die because terrorists abused the system to take advantage of it for their own purposes.

46. Zionist forever , can you give FACTS
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (04.24.12)
about UN vehicles ? we ask this # 8 about facts , but he can do the same . But we know that a priest has transported weapons and ammuniton for the terrorists , was jailed i think . No honest person can say that those check points , and the security barrier , are'nt usefull . Sad to say that we needed to use and build them , this money could have been used for other things . If one day they are'nt needed anymore , we can demolish them . Murdered persons can't be brought to life again ....
47. TIM IN BRIGHTON

GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL YOUR FAMILY. AMEN AMEN DANNY
48. #35 - he died of cardiac arrest
William ,   Israel   (04.24.12)
I seem to recall many people dying of cardiac arrest, when having sex to dealing with people at the Dept of Motor Vehicles. Should that all be banned too to ensure everyone's safety? I Googled further and found nothing but talkbacks on the same article. I changed the words around and found a lot of articles where "Palestinians" attacked checkpoints killing others, including a nice one recently on Land Day where "Palestinians" threw firebombs at troops.
49. #43 - first, it's not their own homeland...
William ,   Israel   (04.24.12)
that has already been heavily disputed with facts. Second, in 1999, there were ZERO checkpoints and no security wall. They had absolutely free movement into Israel and beyond. It was their move towards terror and their horrific slaughter of hundreds of innocents in a short time that ended this Utopia for them. If you want to complain, do it to those who created this problem. The mayor of Jenin said it best when he admitted his city became safer when the security wall went up, forcing criminals and terrorists to Jerusalem envelope to enter Israel. Intelligence reports show how terrorists comb the areas of checkpoints and report to each other where they exist in order to circumvent them, to get into Israel to launch attacks. And finally, there is plenty of evidence of an increase in terror when checkpoints come down, usually as part of confidence-building measures. Your post is full of distorted facts, and I'm happy to have presented you with the fuller picture.
50. WHO,S HOMELAND YOU MEANITHE JEWISH HOMELAND.

And IF the first aid hadn't worked, and the baby had died (which DOES happen in such cases), the soldiers would have been blamed for killing the baby.

his home in the middle of the night and arresting him... It's interesting the one time an IDF saves a Palestinian baby it becomes a cause celeb...and it makes the papers...too funny, just too, too funny...and so rare there are 50 posters patting themselves on the back..... TATA.
54. #53
Phil ,   Ireland   (04.26.12)
You have a sick mind. It's so rare because people like you will never give any credit for the numerous good things that come out of Israel, including the technology you use to post your opinions. Good news stories like this deserve higher profile but you will never hear it from the media in the west. Of course when you do hear it, you spin it into some kind of hate filled crime. I pity your sad warped mind.
55. #30 Israel needs to publish more
American Girl ,   USA   (04.29.13)
Of these articles it's about time that the acts of kindness are publicized.
56. #53 lolol at one time You don't get it do
American Girl ,   USA   (04.29.13)
You. The Israelis have a habit of helping people who need medical assistance. It's part of their cultural heritage. There are probably Israelis wondering why this is news because it is a common event. The problem is that many many many people don't know this. Sigh...never mind
