1. "peace process" scam
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (04.29.12)
Israel and the Arabs were on the verge of peace during the Shamir and Ahrens government. Sadly, the extreme Left seized power and forced the Oslo accords that recognized the terrorists of the PLO and then armed and imported Arafat to Israel. Arafat then murdered all the peace-loving Arabs, and with Leftist collaboration, set-up an education system that guaranteed there will never be peace. The "peace process" has nothing to do with peace. It is a scam, a racket for a small minority to make huge profits by spilling innocent Jewish and Arab blood.
2. Lulz cats
Philos ,   Herzliya   (04.29.12)
This is some seriously deluded liberal nonsense. As if the occupation were not the main impediment to Palestinian institution and economic building. If you disagree read the reports of the World Bank, the IMF and the UN Development Agency. All three organizations agree that the main impediment to the "lofty" goals that the authors claim the Palestinians and international community should be pursuing are the Israeli occupation authorities. . Total delusion.
3. Bantustan
Rolf ,   Ge   (04.29.12)
I would remind the writers of this bs SA efforts to create supine Bantustans failed. Reprehensible as the SA government was it had the vision to see the madness of their policies.
4. For the process to succeed, the parties and the internatinal
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.29.12)
community must adhere to the fundamental elements of international law that were designed to prevent the Arab Israeli conflict in the first place, and then to resolve it: San Remo conference decisions, 1920 League of Nations decisions, 1922 United Nations Charter, Article 80, 1945 And, finally, United Nations Security Council Resolution, 242, 1967 And, until the parties accept these elements and are ready, with the assistance of the international community to stand by them, the September 1995 Interim Agreement will have to do.
5.  #4 makes an excellent point.
R in Jerusalem ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.29.12)
Because of these resolutions, a s well as because of Israel's history as a nation state in the Land of Israel and there always being a Jewish presence there, Israel has at least as good a claim to Judea and Samaria as the Palestinians. This is DISPUTED territory and needs to be negotiated. Oh, and by the way, the lost the war and don't get to simply dictate terms. Their lack of will for real negotiations has kept them stuck since 1967.
6. The two state solution was achieved on 31 October 2011
David singer ,   Australia   (04.29.12)
...When the State of Palestine was recognised and admitted as a member state of UNESCO. The issues of Palestinian statehood and Palestinian homelessness are now off the diplomatic agenda. Oslo and the Roadmap are extant and extinct.
7. Ya Salam! What irks you?
Israeli 2   (04.29.12)
You won't have Tel Aviv, Haifa or Beer Sheva. NO! Not even Eilat and Kiryat Shmoneh. Actually the best thing for you is to say thank you to anything thrown on your lap.
8. Palestinians feel Israel can be conquered
Sam ,   Canada   (04.29.12)
Palestinians have always felt and still feel that Israel can be conquered so that they don't have to settle for half a loaf. They feel that there are more Arabs, that their cause is just and they will eventually overcome. Israel and particularly Jewish liberals are giving the Palestinians too much credibility in wanting peace. They are putting the words they want to hear into Palestinian mouths. The result is more Western pressure on Israel to make concessions to the supposedly peaceful Palestinians. The liberals are doing more harm than good.
9. "The two-state solution has been achieve..." back in 1948!!
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.29.12)
This is when the final British soldier left "Palestine" behind and the legal partition of it - note, "Palestine" is a territory, not a nationality or a state - of 1921/22 was to be implemented. Back in 1921 77% of "Palestine" was handed over to the Arabs who, subsequently, renamed their part Jordan, since "Palestine" is not an Arab term. And, in 1922, the rest, 23% of "Palestine", located between the Jordan River and the Med. Sea, was assigned to the Jews, who subsequently renamed their part Israel since 'Palestine" is not a Jewish term either. Presently, the two states, Jordan and Israel, make the full extent of "Palestine", thus a two-state solution.
10. The Problem is:
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.29.12)
That we have been spouting too much hate on TB forums like this one that it has generated a mind set of 'No Retreat', even if a step back is in all of our best interests. Its turned into a game of who blinks first. What we need, is bravery on all sides. A realisation that we are all brothers and sisters, particularly us of the Semitic persuasion, and we need to co-operate, sooner rather than later
11. # 10: Why can't you post under your own name? Why do you
JBI   (04.29.12)
need to impersonate another person? Aren't you proud enough with your observations and your thoughts? And, if you are not, why spew them in the first place? Shame on you!!
12. #10
Hal ,   UK   (04.29.12)
Very well said. Jews and Arabs are indeed all the same DNA
13. Imagine this now . . .
AlbertoGA ,   St. George, USA   (04.29.12)
A so called Peace, and then what ... A house by house assasination of the Jews. Well I just was mentioning Syria. All Loving People also ! Assad as the Master Butcher ! Here we have Muslims against Muslims. How about Muslims against Jews ?
14. Hal UK no 12
LION OF JUDAH   (04.29.12)
Yes, Jews & Muslims may have the same DNA, and we are also first cousin. But the hatred & Poison towards Jews are unbelievable. There will never be peace between Jews & Muslims, until Islamic Imams in mosques stop incitements and hatred against Jews as well as have to to teach their children in madrasas good things about Jews. Stop teaching your kids hatred and how to kill Jews, then there will be peace
15. #12 Yes but to be a Jew has nothing to do
Yossef   (04.29.12)
with DNA, it's a question of civilization, and the foundations of the civilization we are fighting for: justice, freedom, free-will, knowledge etc. Everybody can become a Jew, it's just a question of choice.
16. Some uncomfortable facts...
Roy Doliner ,   Roma   (04.29.12)
Three basic problems: 1) The Jews, an ancient people with a rich culture, language and history spanning thousands of years, cannot deal on any real issues with an artificial people who were invented in 1964, with no unique language, culture, or history that can distinguish them from any other Arabs of the region. 2) Abbas and the other head thugs of these so-called "palestinian" Arabs have no real intention or motivation for creating, developing or maintaining a state. They are welfare queens who make a fortune in easy handouts from the EU, UN and USA. Why should they exert any energy to become independent and lose all this easy cash? 3) The Arabs have no intention of co-existing with Israel or ever accepting any Jewish State. Their only true intention is to destroy the Jewish country, and not to construct one of their own.
17. NPR & media major obstacle
Baruch ,   Houston/Israel   (04.29.12)
Lourdes Garcia-Navarro, the pro Iran and andti Semitic journalist for NPR exemplifies the tools used by the currupt Arab states to impede progress toward peace. Garcia-Navarro and her ilk have staked their careers on there being a bloody and painful future for the region. The narrative can change to become solution focused. In fact Dr. Divine makes one of the most cogent cases for allowing the peoples of the rewgion to take control of their own narrative. Let us stop funding organizations like NPR, stop welcoming reporters who want to use their position for the nihilistic Arab propaganda machine, and make a constant effort to refocus OUR discussions on the future of the state(s) and region. Ms. Garcia-Navarro can return to doing what she does best. Make cases for illegal immigration to the US. The success of that propgand machine is manifest in the plummeting quality of life in the US. In the meantime I understand Dr. Divine's message to read, we, in the region hold the future in our own minds. So lets grasp it, begin inclusive discussions that rewite the vision of the future to be more than the immediate political process.
18. uncomfortable facts: #16
Yosef Y. MSc' ,   USA   (04.29.12)
Right on, Roy, Yours is one of the Best, short articles I have seen on Ynet. Glad it was published - despite the leftist garbage inclination.
19. JESUSALEN
JESUSALEN ,   JESUSALEN   (04.29.12)
you´ll not still the majority to do wrong or give testimony in a case you bowing to the majority to pervert justice that is necessary to circumcise them to educate and save the torah of moshe and that is necessary to circumcise them and ordering them to keep the law of moses, was it called someone circumcised? not conceal, has he been called one in uncircumcised? not circuncide, circumcision is nothing and the uncircumcision nothing is but keep the commandments of the eternal and circumcised the eternal your elohim your heart and the heart of his seed so loves your elohim with all your heart and with your whole being that you live to the eternal and the connnoisseur of hearts elohim gave testimony giving the ruaj haqodesh as also to us and nothing relatively between us and them purifying their hearts by fidelity now what they prove to elohim to impose a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we have been able to lead
20. To No. 10
Gabe ,   Canada   (04.29.12)
Jordan's abandoned population should not be Israel's problem. Jordan must take care of them one way or another. Loosers have no rights !
21. #16 roy - excellent post.
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.29.12)
22. Different narratives
James ,   Israel   (04.29.12)
Different narratives are indeed at the heart of this conflict. The author does a nice job explaining the incorrect Palestinian narratives, but ignores the other side, such as: "g-d gave us this land," "all the Arabs hate us and want to drive us into the sea," "the Palestinians started all the war against us and therefore we are justified in ethnically cleansing them." Firstly, no one cares what's written in some book that is thousands of years old. Secondly, thinking all Arabs do or think the same thing is bigoted and ignorant. And lastly, the Palestinians didn't start these wars, various Arab nations did under the leadership of people who are now dead. Most Palestinians want what everybody else in the world wants: to live in peace, raise children, and to be happy. It is up to the Palestinians to confront their incorrect narratives, and us to confront our incorrect narratives.
23. The post at No. 10 is not mine
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.29.12)
This troll is British, or comes from a Commonwealth country. "Realised?" No self-respecting American would spell it like that. The grammer leaves something to be desired, as well.
24. To: No. 12
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.29.12)
In point of fact, that is not the case.
25. End dangerous fraudulent "peace talks" now.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.29.12)
After well over two decades of "peace talks with Palestinians", what has Israel gained? Exactly nothing. What has Israel lost? 1) Tens of thousands of maimed and murdered civilians. 2) Freedom from rocket attacks on many Israeli cities. 3) Most of our self respect and the respect of others. 4) Freedom from pressure to cede our land to our genocidal terrorist enemies. Israel must reestablish our former pre-Oslo policy of refusing to talk to terrorists. End the dangerous, fraudulent "peace talks" now.
26. Article is a load of crap
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (04.29.12)
We did agree to share some of our land, the Arabs have demanded all of our land in return. The entire premise of this 'article' is total bullshit. The issue is that the racist Arabs demand as a minimum our genocide that is the entire issue.
27. If you really wanted peace you would be training your people
Be honest!!!!!!!!!!! ,   Israel   (04.29.12)
for peaceful cooexistance and tolerance instead of praising suicide bombers and naming streets after them. You would have changed your school text books and you would not be running kids TV that calls Jews "devils with a tail". There is absolutely no sign that Arabs WANT peaceful coexhistance. NONE.
