1. Why am I not surprised?
Cynic #2   (05.01.12)
Because the IDF is holier than holy.
2. I can tell you, who carries responsibility
Yael Schlichting ,   Qiryat Motzkin   (05.01.12)
It's those, who fire missiles indiscriminately on Israeli civilians! And I am asking B'Tselem in return: What about the war crimes of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad? Have you ever wasted a second to think about the fate of Israeli children, suffering from continuous missile fire? No, for B'Tselem, the wellfare of terrorists is the higher value and Israeli civilians, children, elder, women, men, are not worth the protection of the IDF but stateless Arab civilians are? I tell you, what I would do with my family, if I would see myself in such a conflict: I would pack my things and go! Instead they climbed on the roofs of their houses to demonstrate that they would not leave!
3. Reply to Cynic # 2.
FG   (05.01.12)
Exactly as you say. Every word is the true. This is the only reason I clicked "recommend"!
4. I don't think I've ever read such an assinine response
EZRA THE PROUD JEW ,   USA-ISRAEL   (05.01.12)
in my entire life. Btselem is comprised of a brood of misguided, ideological freakazoids who have no understanding of what responsibility is. Their salaries are too high for the garbage they spew. Israel needs to examine the slanderous activities of this bunch of thugs and haters. In time of war there will always be collateral damage, especially when dealing with the likes of falestinian-arabs who intentionally put civilians in harms way. The soldiers and pilots are cleared via an investigation; there was NO intentional action to harm civilians: its just a sad result of a tragic mindset these gazans live under; PERIOD. If they don't want to put themselves in danger, they need to overthrow the idiots who run their little enclave and decide on civility rather than hatred, violence and brutality...which is the falestinain way. btselem should burn in gehenom for their INTENTIONALLY NEGLIGENT ACTIVITIES WHICH FUELS HATRED FOR ISRAEL AND VIOLENCE AGAINST JEWS WORLD-WIDE. Fools!
5. Hamas is guilty of war crimes for using human shields
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (05.02.12)
Gaza is small, but it's not so tiny that Hamas & Islamic Jihad has to put rockets & weapons in schools, hospitals & people's homes. They are cowards that hide behind women & children.
6. Bombing Israeli civillians for years didnt bother the UNHRC
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (05.02.12)
Neither Goldstone nor his hit squad were shocked. Hamas chose to hide and fight amongst their civillians, without wearing uniforms, predictably creating Civillian casualties Neither Goldstone!s goons nor the UNHRC noticed that either
7. during war everyone loses
pini   (05.02.12)
8. Hmm
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.02.12)
So, when will war crimes charges be brought against NATO forces for the deaths of over a million civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq? Waziristan? Yemen? Libya? And if Hamas refused to allow civilians to evacuate certain areas that Israel had announced and leafletted well in advance of the operation were going to come under bombardment, is it not then Hamas that are the war criminals? But we already knew that. I wonder how the posters and No. 1 and No. 3 would react to eight years of daily missile barrages into their backyards from a hostile entity across a border. Something tells me that such an experience would quite take the gloss off their pretend "humanitarianism." It is SO easy to be pious when the missiles aren't falling on YOUR head, isn't it?
9. It doen't matter
Khan ,   U.K.   (05.02.12)
Israel has just ratched up the Karmaic response somewhere in time and space. These scales will not be balanced.
10. Even when it did
Baruch Jamili ,   Bayit Vegan   (05.02.12)
There is a built-in fail safety mechanism for all members of the IDF, extended to Mishmar HaGvul too, that if you commit a war crime or a crime against Palestinians, be sure you won't be found guilty, and it's as if you didn't commit the crime you know you did commit. A Supreme Court Judge told the father of a dead Palestinian girl during the trial of a Mishmar HaGvul trooper that finding the trooper guilty of killing his daughter wouldn't happen because it has never happened before. The trooper became a Chozer B’Tshuva.
11. Who is B1Tselem?
Gábor Fränkl   (05.02.12)
B'Tselem's foreign donors and financial and powerful political backers proving their sharply anti-Israel quasi-antisemitic agenda is well-known for the public by now.

Chatich   (05.02.12)
Here's what I think happened: one of IDF's regular pal informants became angry with al-samouni sr., for whatever reason; pride, honor, ovine adultery, whatever. Perhaps he wouldn't allow him to marry his 6 year old daughter. Anyway, ahmed the informant figures "I'll fix him good!" and and "informs" the IDF how old man somouni's house is full of rockets, or hamassholes or something else the IDF wants to blow up, and voila, mohammad's your uncle. Shekels to sufganiot, this is how it went down. Either that, or hamas didn't like them for whatever reason and arranged for the above scenario to be "leaked" to the IDF.

some one please tell those idiot stupid no brain people in bet'salem war is war not picnic you do not attack us we have no reason to attack you you atak use we have power to defend ourself 300 rocket in a week is not a jock tell bet'selem to get out of israel
15. It's like the Palestinians
babawawa ,   new york, usa   (05.02.12)
didn't shoot rockets into Israel. If you start a war, don't bitch about losing. Sorry for the loss of life, but come on. Get a grip. You can't remain silent against the attempted murder of Israeli civilians and then blame everyone but yourselves when you get it. If these people loved their family half as much as they claim, they never would have allowed rockets to enter Israel.
16. #13
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (05.02.12)
If you have any evidence that the IDF commited war crimes, please send it. Until now, the only "evidence" was from Israeli Leftists who were paid to invent the "evidence".
17. how on earth 21 members of the same family
ghostq   (05.02.12)
lives in the same house, usually 5 or 6 members, but never 21 people under the same roof, something is right here by pali report, in time of war you don't have family reunions, so 21 don't seems from the same family. even Bin Laden had less relatives when he was killed.
18. TRAGIC DEATHS APPLY ONLY TO HIDING BEHIND CIVILIANS.
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (05.02.12)
The law, as well as the UN, declared it a crime for setting up launching pads in civilian homes with the right of defense not being negated even from loss of innocent lives. In no way can this be charged upon the IDF. Let the UN now charge those who are responsible for the deaths of those killed, instead of using them as a weapon against Israel.
19. to #13 Robert charles Menson wasn't thretned
ghostq   (05.02.12)
with rockets. and non of his family members were killed by the victims. in time of war things as such happened. after all ANZAK troopers were also killed IN gaza battle by arabs. That is y there is a city called Gaza in Australia.
20. #2 Yael
Aussie Thinker   (05.02.12)
You are not thinking! Imagine you are in Gaza, which has been invaded by thousands of IDF troops and tanks. They have divided Gaza into 3 sections. No-one can go out less they get shot. Where are you going to take your family Yael???
21. #8 Sarah
Aussie Thinker   (05.02.12)
We are not talking about NATO here Sarah. This is about the IDF investigating itself again, and surprise, surprise, everyone is innocent! What NATO is doing, is what the IDF did in Gaza during Cast Lead, so both are gulity of killing innocent civilians. The 8,000 rockets were not fired EVERY day over 6 years, Sarah and 99% of them fell into open fields, not people's backyards. Stop exaggerating Sarah!
22. deliberate harm to civilians
observer ,   Egypt   (05.02.12)
Israel's intention detectors works well before any Palestinian attack, but lack sensitivity after finishing Israel's operation. Israel doesn't commit any war crime because it only wages operations or campaign, but never ever war.
23. Geneva Conventions
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (05.02.12)
It is a tragedy, and one cannot bring back those who perished, but one must also recognise that Hamas were operating from civilian buildings, contrary to the Geneva Conventions, and threfore placed civilians in danger. A commanding officer is not omniscient.
24. To: No. 22
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.02.12)
Oh, we waged war pretty well when we kicked your sorry asses in 1947, 1956, 1967 and 1973. Of course, YOU started all those wars, but I guess you've forgotten that. No matter. Just remember what we did to Egypt, and keep in mind that if Egypt keeps on its current path, it's going to happen again. But you've grown accustomed to having your proverbial clock cleaned by tiny little Israel, right? Or did Egypt wage mere campaigns or operations in 1947, 1956, 1967 and 1973? By the way -- all those missiles, suicide bombings and other assorted terror attacks -- were those ersatz "Palestinian" "operations" or "campaigns," or were they acts of terror, and doesn't the sovereign State of Israel have every right to defend itself? If you cannot stand the heat, it's best to get out of the kitchen. You lose the right to weep and wail when things do not go as you planned.
25. To: No. 21
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.02.12)
It's a matter of proportionality. If NATO is not guilty of war crimes -- no charges have even been brought -- then how can Israel be guilty of even the mere accusation? I would not have bothered to investigate; I think it was wrong for Israel to cave in to international pressure. By the way -- there is no "exaggeration." The law looks to intent, not efficacy. The war crime occurred each time Hamas terrorists fired a missile into Israel. Where the missiles may have landed is entirely irrelevant. War is hell and civilians do die. But there is a vast difference between the careful operation conducted by Israel during Cast Lead and the indiscriminate carpet bombing techniques of NATO. Moreover, of all the casualties in Gaza, nearly 80% were terrorists. Israel did its best to avoid civilian casualties, but it is not always possible to do that, particularly if Hamas uses civilians as human shields. And Hamas stockpiled weapons in hospitals, schools and mosques. Under international law, those hospitals, schools and mosques became legitimate military targets. The only war crimes in Gaza were committed by Hamas. You need to go back and think some more.
26. #21 Aussie
Cynthia ,   USA   (05.02.12)
Before the IDF went into Gaza during Cast Lead, Palestinian terrorists were firing 85 rockets and bombs per day from within the civilian population to Israel. They refused a ceasefire and intentionally provoked the IDF response. Sarah is not exaggerating. An estimated 8000 rockets have been fired at Sderot. The rockets are unguided and hit schools, homes, farms, streets and public buildings. The population of Sderot had 15 seconds to find shelter after a code red was sounded. That includes women with young children, senior citizens and handicapped individuals. Several people have been killed and severely wounded from these attacks. If rockets land in fields it's because they missed civilian targets. Palestinian terrorists are still firing kassam rockets and bombs at Israel. No need to feel sorry for them. They put their own people in harms way and take no responsibility for their actions. Aussie, you need to do your homework.
27. # 8 Not mine
Sarah B. ,   U.S.A./Israel   (05.02.12)
though I share some of the points. The freak imposter mentions "million civilians" dead in Iraq and Afghanistan. This shows an absolute lack of factual knowledge and some uncapacity of dealing with numbers. Americans did a good job in Iraq and our fellow soldiers are facing hard times with the Talibans. They deserve absolute respect. Disgutsting imposter: I hope you can answer to your acts before the Courts very soon. Just wait.
28. # 21
Sarah B. ,   U.S.A./Israel   (05.02.12)
"99% of them fell into open fields"... so, by your rationale there should be a high number of Israeli victims to make this a "fair conflict"? Is that what you want? Dead Israeli people? If they were a little bit more competent they would have exterminated all communiteis around Gaza. We are talking here about effective military means to face a challenge. NATO and IDF in many aspects operate with the same challenges, facing the same hardships and even the same enemies. But, once more, the IDF is the "immoral" army. You know what? Forget about all this. You have your thoghts, you will never change.

The orderlies at the asylum really must take better care of that poor, lonely and delusional troll ..... perhaps a nice PB&J laced with a nice anti-psychotic will do the trick.
