1. Not enough money into private pockets
Susya Bar Dror ,   Israel   (05.04.12)
Apparently nothing moves because the kickbacks into pockets of decision malers are insufficient.
2. Last man in the whole world investing in Israel and they
Miron ,   USA   (05.04.12)
are about to gut the sucker, just for the heck of it.
3. Is this true?
Tim ,   Brighton   (05.04.12)
If so its disappointing! The Water Industry must be one of Israels future Industrial Jewels in the Crown We have to get this act together - root out corruption, encourage competition and train expert scientists and engineers so that we can become self sufficient in water, build unassailable economies of scale, build and operate commercial Water Desalination and Supply Plants abroad and develop Tanker Export of Emergency Water worldwide
4. a separate article discussed numbers, Israel was projected
Miron ,   USA   (05.04.12)
to require 250 mln cubic meter / year until 2020, reaching capacity in 2013. Sounds to me private enterprise outrun the plan by more than a year and now Israel has spare capacity to sell to neighbors. By the way, that article complained Israel had only 60 mln cubic meters of water / year desalination production with capacity cupped at 125.. Based on the old numbers and new numbers it sounds to me Israel capacity stands at 1/2 billion cubic meters of desalinated water / year with 250 mln being put on - line. Now, that sure sounds like a serious stab at superpower.
5. Corruption in Israel is a national security Issue
Eli ,   Jerusalem   (05.05.12)
No one should be allowed to monopolize markets...no one should be allowed to price control...no one should allow mafia involvement in the national water carrier, the transportation industry, the telecommunications industry or the weapons industry and yet this is what you get in Israel. For how long must we suffer while 20 some families rule the country and enrich themselves at our expense. Heads should roll!
6. Mayim: A Bureaucratic Screw-up
The Prophetess ,   SC,USA   (05.06.12)
"This is an ongoing governmental failure that impedes the public interest," NBN, JNF, and other agencies encourage Aliyah to bolster Israel's population. Suppose in this next year, thousands, perhaps several million Olim make Aliyah from USA and Canada? Where will the mayim come from? Clearly, not the "government."
7. Make Electricity and Fresh Water at the same time.
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (05.06.12)
Israel should use a molten salt tower that uses heliostats to focus the sun to the top of the 500 foot tower.... to heat the salt to 1000 degrees F...... This heated salt can then be used to heat water into steam..... to run a steam generator to make electricity. Normally this water is condensed and reused in the system again. If Sea water was used to make steam for the system....then it could be reused after condensing it into fresh water for the public....while new sea water was pumped into the system to create steam in a continuous cycle. You could get electricity as well as fresh water. If you could figure out how to do it off the coast of the Mediterranean in the sea......without using land on shore....that would be even better. Solarreserve.com has an example.
