31. #29 Obama is no GWB.
(05.06.12)
No sh*t Sherlock. But he's in for a rude awakening, and he knows it.
32. 12 Persian cat - WRONG
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (05.06.12)
Israel has the capability to attack Iran. And the article spells out the timing probability. Congress would then act surprised when Iran shoots back at the US and might even do something. The counter-attack would guarantee Obama's reelection, just as Pearl Harbor got Roosevelt four terms - US History 101.
33. The fitness factor
Observer ,   Israel   (05.06.12)
Bibi has a clean bill of physical health , but what about his mental health. Seems to me that for his position the latter health index is far more important.
34. #25 two choices
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (05.06.12)
Stay in Tel Aviv, maybe you will need the grave Move to our homeland in Judea and Samaria, and live.
35. #27 Of course this will backfire
TaylorT ,   Earth   (05.06.12)
What else to expect when giving children the reins of a state? But it's nothing they're not used to, they spent most of the last 2000 years fleeing from one country to the next. And when Israel crashes around them, it's very doubtful they'll blame things like this manipulation for why no one (in the end) chose to back them.
36. Nations decline when they overreach
Tom ,   USA   (05.06.12)
Germany foolishly attacked Russia, the US thought it could tame both Iraq and Afghanistan at the same time, and now Israel wants to take on Iran. All of the latter were undertaken by nations which had had remarkable success in war and become drunk on this success. Taking on Iran militarily is foolish. Of course it could be Israelis leaders are bluffing and they know they could never succeed in causing significant damage to Iran without a huge cost. Let's hope they know this, anyway.
37. Why fight your enemies when you can blackmail your friends?
Kevin P ,   St. Louis, USA   (05.06.12)
Isrealis must be feeling confident to so brashly brag about how best to play Americans. As others have pointed out, do Israelis really think Americans aren't aware of this? Needless to say, if an attack on Iran goes badly, Israel will get the full blame. This could very well be the thing that causes a shift in American thinking on an alliance with Israel. Articles like this will be presented as "evidence" of how Israel dragged the US into war (while the US had spent years undertaken a full court diplomatic press against Iran.) Iran doesn't need to build a nuclear weapon to harm Israel, it has already succeeded in doing the one thing that will most hurt Israel: drive a wedge between it and its sole protector on the planet. Are Israelis ready to have their leaders indicted by an international court? Are they ready to have world-wide sanctions imposed on them? Are they ready to have their enemies emboldened? They better get ready. Perhaps this was Iran's plan all along...
38. #37. Israel will triumph again; regardless of Iran's plan.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.06.12)
#37. Israel is more than capable of dealing with Iran. Attempts to paint Iran as a super power are quite laughable. We are talking about the same nation that couldn't defeat Saddam Hussein's far from mighty forces. So forget about your fear mongering. Israel will triumph again; regardless of Iran's plan.
39. Can mean anything
Expat ,   Vienna   (05.06.12)
Early elections can mean anything: 1- strike Iran before and get elected shortly after -- means after the fact endorsement by a majority in Israel. Hussain Obama must help immediatly in order to rescue his own election; he'll hate it, but Bibi will not care because he's already good for another four years. 4-strike Iran in 2013 or later. Makes only sense if Obama is not elected again. Otherwise, he might just refer the issue to UN and watch. 3- dont strike Iran because Hussain Obama said NO or because its not feasible, but get elected for another 4 years before Bibi's base will erode, because they may regard him as undecisive or coward. So, what's the point to speculate??
40. #35 The likes of you would have us..
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (05.06.12)
eternally wandering. It just so happens that now we have OUR OWN homeland to protect.... The fact that you have a problem with this reveals your bigotry
41. Re: Repent
greenlee   (05.07.12)
Where was god during the holocaust. The fact is god only helps those that help themselves, the strong will eat the weak and the weak shall burn in hell forever. If you are too weak to survive you will die, if you have the will to survive then you have a chance. If you want to play by the rules, you will lose. If you are willing to do whatever it takes to win you can. If Iran gets a bomb and goes on a suicidal rampage, it wins. A few generations no one would care one iota.
42. The Answer
Watchman on the wall ,   Yisrael   (05.07.12)
Most miss the truth right in front of their eyes... Ezekiel 38 & 39 descibes WW3. Preceding that is the war of Psalm 83. ( Israel's neighbors will all be destroyed for attacking with a coallition or Arab armies). In all of this The Lord G-d will be on Israel's side and they will NEVER lose a battle or war. They are His promised nation and Jerusalem His Eternal city. The truth was prophesied by G-d centuries ago and we are the generation who will see these events take place. All who curse Israel and the nation and try to divide up Jerusalem in the coming days will likewise be destroyed and scattered . Be careful what your tongue states which comes from your heart concerning Israel'. The Lord pays attention to ALL this and you too could be effected , as everybody will be given a chance to either support or not support Israel in Her time of need. Gen. 12:3

The US is not "protector" of Israel; it's the other way around. Israel is the only democracy in the Mideast, Israel is the only and unconditional ally America has in that region and behind. Israel has the military and scientific expertise the US possesses and more. Israel has the brain power that America lacks in the above mentioned fields. Did you know that every piece of hardware Israel obtains from America is taken apart and adapted to combat scenarios in the Mideast?? Did you know that Israel is able to defend her self against multiple threats, just as she did in all the wars against combined Arab forces in overwhelming numbers and equipped with the latest technology Russia could provide?? Are you aware that the money the US gives Israel it also gives in equal amounts to Egypt and Jordan? (at least since the Camp David Accords). Do you know why?? Because the US has a stake in ensuring that American-style democracy take hold, especially in the Mideast. Well, if you were able to read up to this point you can go to your nazi party weekly gathering in the sticks of the "show me state" and be a little more informed, although still an antisemite.
44. Uh, 29?
Mike Lumish ,   USA   (05.07.12)
Sharon told Bush NOT to attack Iraq because he recognized that the real problem was Iran. Get your history straight. Israel Thrives http://israel-thrives.blogspot.com/
45. to # lucky 7
J.Gad ,   Israel   (05.07.12)
".. It is wise to play games with your best ally?" To analyze politics is not a play game amigo. Be careful, Iran is not your "genie in the bottle".
46. #35 TaylorT. You see...
Phil ,   Ireland   (05.07.12)
..there you go exposing the real reason for your bitterness. You can't bear to see Jews having their own country so you try to delegitimise both the Jewish state and the Jewish people. Your teeth must be ground down to the gums because of your seething anger against the people you are so jealous of.
47. Reading No. 43 is like watching Soviet propaganda
Kelly ,   Israel   (05.07.12)
And not very good Soviet propaganda at that. Please stay in America.
48. #43 is a laugh a second
Kelly ,   UK   (05.07.12)
I almost thought it was satire as it's rare when so many cliches are strung together in an attempt to be anything but humourous.. Hopefully Danny boy is quite young.
49. That's not the reason for early elections
Vlad   (05.07.12)
Bibi knows its likely that Obama will win a second term, and Israel is in for four more years of trouble. In his second term, Obama can push Israel more aggressively with regards to the peace process. What Bibi wants is an election victory that will allow him to challenge Obama on grounds that he has been given a clear mandate from his people to continue acting the way he has.
50. # 43 & 48
Daniel ,   NYC, US   (05.08.12)
Actually, I wrote using historical context and facts. On the other hand, I should have used simpler English so someone like you could understand. And by the way, you're kelly in Israel or kelly in uk????
