Dear brother. As a renewed Christian Catholic, true friend of Israel and of Jewish people, I do understand your revolt against the terrible sins committed by my Church, and others, during past times. But since II Vatican Concil (1963/65), it has been changed. Pope Benedict XVI, in 2008, said: "Being Anti Semitic means to be Anti Christian". We share common values, including about the refered issue above. Warm salutes.

Of afilliated British Jews about 80% are at least nominally Orthodox. There's been little public response because we can't believe what's happening. The Jewish family/home and procreation are the foundation of Jewish life. We accept civil unions because we accept everyone has civil rights, but that is not what we Jews understand as 'marriage'. Next they will demand marriage in synagogue/church/mosque/temple, and the European Court will support the prosecution of clergy who refuse.

In earlier generations the classical Reform Jewish view distinguished between ritual law and moral law. They rejected ritual law such as Shabbat, Kashrut, mikveh etc, but they accepted the Torah's moral law, such as the prohibition of adultery, incest, sodomy, bestiality. Now they are rejecting the moral law. If you reject Jewish ritual and Jewish morals, what's left?

Although mainstream British Jews and Catholics share views on the sanctity of life and the definition of marriage as one man marrying one woman, nonetheless the Catholic Church on its own has the clout to make a govt think twice.
